Funding Freedom - Palace lies

Omid Scobie in Finding Freedom said that Meghan received security training, including on how to deal with being kidnapped. Omid Scobie says in a tweet below that a Palace Official confirmed this was true, But it was not.

In both the Mail court case and in Harrys book Spare, it was revealed Meghan was not provided with this security training.

The Palace straight out lied to Omid Scobie.

😱

SpookyBlackCat · 20/01/2023 13:34

I guess they were just fucking with him.

Peverellshire · 20/01/2023 13:34

Harry had a tracker device etc, did Meghan? Was it something like that, that could come broadly under the umbrella of 'security training' or similar. Not defending.

babsanderson · 20/01/2023 13:38

The story was specifically detailed about the type of security training Meghan allegedly had with a faked kidnapping. Not simply being given the equivalent of an air pod to carry.

OP posts:
MarshaMelrose · 20/01/2023 13:40

Has she been kidnapped or something through her lack of security training?

Peverellshire · 20/01/2023 13:41

Was it an 'outright lie' or was it something planned and pending?

GoingOnce · 20/01/2023 13:43

Why would they help him with his fact-checking? Why did he feel any entitlement to that? To assist with selling a book that aimed to trash the royals?? Not really what the people working at the Palace are employed to do.

babsanderson · 20/01/2023 13:43

It was a lie. The Palace lie all the time to the press. This is one example.

His grammar is shit too

Abra1t · 20/01/2023 13:43

Funding Freedom

Much more relevant title than the original.

babsanderson · 20/01/2023 13:45

@GoingOnce Do you understand how journalism works? Fact checking is totally normal. People can say no comment. But in this case the Palace said the story was true, even though it was not.
The Palace lied.

Brilliant typo.

babsanderson · 20/01/2023 13:45

Title is wrong with a typo, I am on my phone. I hate that we can not edit.

It’s a Freudian slip of a title.

Especially since the tweets the OP attached are Omid Scobie pimping his next book.

MarshaMelrose · 20/01/2023 13:48

It was a lie. The Palace lie all the time to the press.

Yes, the palace does lie. The palace lied to the press that Harry hadn't been doing drugs because they believed Harry when he said he wasn't. Aren't you outraged? What about the palace lying that Diana wasn't involved with the Morton book because Diana swore she wasn't? Total shocker.

babsanderson · 20/01/2023 13:50

The Palace lie to protect members of the Royal Family and to make the Royal Family look better.
So we are all agreed then we can't trust anything the Palace says since they lie?

piliomachaon · 20/01/2023 13:50

How can we know that Sconie is telling the truth here though? Are you going to fact check that? How can we ever tell if anyone is ever telling the truth. There's been so many proven lies & misrepresented statements in Finding Freedom, the Oprah interview, the Netflix doc, Spare Part the novel etc. Who knows what's true and what isn't anymore?

Serenster · 20/01/2023 13:51

Omid Scobie says in a tweet below that a Palace Official confirmed this was true

I wonder if that would be Meghan herself, by any chance?

I cannot imagine the Palace ever, ever comments on matters that relate to the family members’ security. So I find it very hard to believe that Omid obtained this information through any officially sanctioned statement. If a “palace official” speculated or told him something incorrect, that’s the risk he takes, surely?

barneshome · 20/01/2023 13:51

who cares

TrashyPanda · 20/01/2023 13:51

Has Scobie produced the official communication from the Palace, stating this?

or did he just speak to “someone”?

im leaning towards the latter.

seems strange that the Palace would officially comment on this.
equally, why didn’t Meghan and/or Harry correct him?

As it was Harry and Diana who lied, can't really blame the palace if they believed their bosses. Acorn doesn't fall far from the tree, though, eh?

The Palace lied.

I’m more inclined to think Scobie made it up. He’s the Sussex equivalent of the palace press office.

binkie163 · 20/01/2023 13:53

Well if it has been tweeted it must be true 😂

TrashyPanda · 20/01/2023 13:56

So either:

Scobie doesnt check his information

or

he has no inside source of information (and that includes H&M)

neither suggests he is a credible source.

talk about shooting yourself in the foot.

”I was wrong but it wasn’t my fault!”

grow up.

babsanderson · 20/01/2023 13:56

I know Royalists love to slag off Omid Scobie because he tries to tell the truth.
