Omid Scobie in Finding Freedom said that Meghan received security training, including on how to deal with being kidnapped. Omid Scobie says in a tweet below that a Palace Official confirmed this was true, But it was not.

In both the Mail court case and in Harrys book Spare, it was revealed Meghan was not provided with this security training.

The Palace straight out lied to Omid Scobie.

Omid Scobie also worked for that bastion of truthful journalism, Heat magazine.😀

You're the one asserting that Omid Scobit must be correct in his tweet, even though he has form for lying and has given no details of his sources. "Palace Source" is totally meaningless.

Given that it's well known that 'the palace' does not comment on security matters, has it never occurred to you that Scobie might be lying to save face?

Have you read Spare? Harry says that he lied to the Palace about this, when they asked him. He decided a journalist was calling their bluff and so took the risk. So then they took him at his word.

What is the definition of security training or kidnapp training as such. It could be something as simple as explaining how you will work with your security people. Something like a briefing that everybody with security following around will have!

Why on earth would 'the palace' be sharing highly sensitive information with hack journalists? What would be gained by so doing?

Everyone lies sometimes. Everyone interprets and remembers things differently to other people. Sometimes journalists lie, sometimes they don't properly check their sources, sometimes it's about interpretation.

None of that us any kind of revelation and nothing in this thread is revelatory either.

I hope if anyone suggests in the media that Omid Scobie is lying that he sues them. He is a journalist and will not have tweeted what he did without evidence.

in this interview he states he checks all his facts twice, so it should be easy for him to show two letters from BP.

he also says he was one of only 3 journalists invited by MM on her last day of public duty. Which is strange, given his pedigree of working (mainly) for trashy magazines. He’s not exactly credible, is he? Why would anyone release sensitive information to any journalist, far less someone like Scobie, who is basically a gossip columnist?

No one is saying the Palace don't lie, they are saying that you have no proof from this statement that they DO lie.

That could have come from someone who observed the security gatehouse!

In any event, even if it was released by the palace, it’s the type of statement that increases their security. It’s telling whoever might want to have a crack that they’ve got to get past the security hut first. And it’s hardly a surprise that they’d have that. Very easy to guess they probably would.

Why do you want to attack Omid? Oh I know! He was Royal correspondent for Harpers Bazaar. It is a glossy fashion magazine, but has a bit of celebrity news in it.

Of course it can't be proved that Scobie is lying because he only refers to an unnamed 'palace official'. Impossible to prove either way. However, we are as free to speculate about the veracity of his claims as you are about 'the palace'. If you want to contact him with details of this page, feel free. You do seem terribly bothered about anyone questioning him, although that's par for the course when one is a 'journalist'.
