Funding Freedom - Palace lies

babsanderson · 20/01/2023 13:25

Omid Scobie in Finding Freedom said that Meghan received security training, including on how to deal with being kidnapped. Omid Scobie says in a tweet below that a Palace Official confirmed this was true, But it was not.

In both the Mail court case and in Harrys book Spare, it was revealed Meghan was not provided with this security training.

The Palace straight out lied to Omid Scobie.

So the palace just confirmed to Omid Scobie about Meghan's security training? Why on earth would palace officials be discussing security matters with a magazine journalist?

I'm no fan of the royals but this seems to be highly unlikely.

babsanderson · 20/01/2023 13:58

It is normal to fact check and for Palace officials to deny or confirm facts.

Even relating to security matters? So if someone wanted to fact check how many royal protection officers were assigned to a particular royal the palace would confirm this? Would they also confirm what type of weapons they carry?

babsanderson · 20/01/2023 13:45

@GoingOnce Do you understand how journalism works? Fact checking is totally normal. People can say no comment. But in this case the Palace said the story was true, even though it was not.
The Palace lied.

Just bear in mind its not the palace saying anything. The only confirmation you have is from OMID SCOBIE that the Palace confirmed this (The Palace have not told the public they confirmed this!)

Now apparently its not true - again, who says it's not true? Harry and Meghan. NOT THE PALACE!

Peoples lack of critical thinking astound me....

GoingOnce · 20/01/2023 14:03

They lied 😱 OMG I don’t believe it! And to that renowned journalist Omid Scobie? He’ll never get his Pulitzer now.

Boulshired · 20/01/2023 14:03

Any royal correspondent can make claims if they are plausible, it it turn out incorrect they fall behind the palace source. Who knows if the source ever existed.

Yes, and if he has an official letter from the Palace, then he can produce it.

but I bet he doesn’t.

There is no way that the palace would comment on security matters. They even said when the thorny issue of Harry’s security arose that they don’t comment on security matters. Anyway @babsanderson, why do you insist Scobie tells the truth? He is a journalist. I’m pretty sure you don't believe journalists when they say negative things about the Sussexes. Why do you insist he must be truthful ?

babsanderson · 20/01/2023 14:06

Okay so now the line is the Palace does not lie is it? Even though you accept the Palace did lie to journalists about Harrys drug taking?
It is clear the Palace lies again and again and we can't believe a word they say.

OP posts:
TrashyPanda · 20/01/2023 14:07

Scobie wasn’t exactly a credible biographer.

he worked for a US gossip magazine!

TrashyPanda · 20/01/2023 14:09

Okay so now the line is the Palace does not lie is it?

no, what people are saying is that Scobie is not credible.

therefore we do not believe him.

because of Scobie.

nothing to do with the Palace.

babsanderson · 20/01/2023 14:10

Omid Scobie worked at Harpers Bazaar. It is a women's fashion magazine with items about celebrities, etc. It is recognised as pretty reliable.

No one said there may not be lies about other things, but it is improbable that they would comment on individual security training. This would obviously be telling any bad agents what advice and training g the principals had received which would allow the bad agents to potentially know how to counter this training. It’s not rocket science

babsanderson · 20/01/2023 14:11

So do you think the Palace does not lie? In spite of evidence to the contrary.

But you uncritically believe a 'journalist' who is known to be an official spokesperson for Harry and Meghan?

I agree with others above. There is no way 'the palace' would ever speak to a journalist about security matters. Very easy to blame an anonymous 'palace official' but anyone with any clue knows that they do not comment on such sensitive matters, certainly not with a known hack like Scobie.

I do love how that anonymous faceless entity known as 'the palace' is to blame for everything these days. Unless of course it's the 'British Media'. Or William. Or Camilla. Never the people directly concerned of course.

Ffs. Can you read? No we don’t think the palace doesn’t lie. We think this is probably a case of Scobie getting his facts wrong. Because the palace wouldn’t comment at all on security matters

Serenster · 20/01/2023 14:13

Yes, of course, Omid Scobie’s past work at Harper’s Bazaar is totally relevant to why he is a controversial media figure today. 🤣

Omid Scobie provably lied in a sworn witness statement to the High Court when he said Meghan and Harry had absolutely nothing to do with Finding Freedom. If you want to take anything he says as truthful, that’s up to you, but we have every reason to distrust everything he says.

babsanderson · 20/01/2023 14:13

@smilesy They do not release detailed outlines of the training. Saying they faked a kidnap situation to teach someone how to deal with it does not help anyone.
I can google any firm that provides security training and get this level of detail i.e. not much.

It might be reliable in terms of what will be fashionable next season. It isn't hard hitting investigative journalism.

babsanderson · 20/01/2023 14:15

Okay so the Palace lied to protect Harry around drugs accusation, you accept that.
Do you think the Palace tells other lies to journalists?

Funding Freedom

Much more relevant title than the original.

Definitely a Freudian slip.

Redglitter · 20/01/2023 14:15

babsanderson · 20/01/2023 13:43

It was a lie. The Palace lie all the time to the press. This is one example.

Whereas Harry is totally honest & accurate in everything he says

babsanderson · 20/01/2023 14:16

@greenbackers Don't be ridiculous. No one has claimed it is. But it is also not the kind of publication that was being alleged.

Ok. But they do have a blanket answer of not commenting on security matters. Why would they do so specifically for Meghan?

babsanderson · 20/01/2023 14:16

I swear William and Charles could go on TV and say we lie all the time about Harry and Meghan, and you would still all excuse them.
