Are we all going to sidestep the fact that 'gold digger' Meghan was paying for everything.
'we don't have money for her'

She was paying for heaters, lights and sofas. You name it.
All the while we are being fed that she is a 'gold digger' who has come into a privileged family.

They’re both millionaires in their own right so I have no idea why they were buying ex display sofas or furniture from IKEA, but I guess that’s up to them 🤷🏻‍♀️

Harry couldn't work out how to stick a banking app on his phone.

I think we have probably concluded he has a mobile with applications on it by this point.

Andanotherone01 · 13/01/2023 11:43

Her engagement dress was bought by Charles to the tune of £87,000. Catherine’s engagement dress was £350

Swissmountains · 13/01/2023 11:45

This whole poor is me spiel is pretty disgusting given the very real cost of living crisis worldwide, it is beyond tone deaf when we are talking about multi, multi millionaires!!

Megs was pissed off because she was given a 'tiny' cottage at KP and expected to be a princess and live in a castle, like Windsor for instance. She has publicly openly whinged about how small and horrid it was for them, and how beautiful and well furnished William's pad was!

It seems they are continuing the Cinderella narrative despite living in a huge mansion in LA and clearly making tens of millions moaning about their sofas!

You really couldn't make it up.

I had thought the Cartier jewellery was said to be her wedding gift from Charles? Kate got a similar diamond bracelet/necklace/earrings set on her wedding.

Yes, I recall reading at the time that the Cartier jewellery M wore on her wedding day was a gift from KC, the tiara was loaned by the Queen (which we know) and for her evening do, M wore Diana's aquamarine ring.

Doesn't Harry get a military pension, or some payment as an ex officer?

Although am sure that the RF are really controlling about money.

He was only in for ten years and any pension would be based on a captain’s pay. In royal terms it’s small change. In normal people’s terms it wouldn’t be enough to live on.

Stressfordays · 13/01/2023 11:46

I think its very tone deaf of him to be complaining about his finances at this time. He wants public support and most of the public are struggling to heat their homes and feed their families.

BunnyFantastic · 13/01/2023 11:46

Under Diana’s will, Prince Harry received access to his inheritance from her when he was 30. Diana’s will named her mother and one of her sisters as trustees. Charles had nothing to do with the administering of any of that money.
At a conservative estimate, he was worth at least £10m when they met.
Harry could definitely run to a couple of sofas.
Either he didn’t care how he lived pre-Meghan, or he’s tight with money, or it’s something else entirely. But, as with a lot of things in his book, the pettiness, and the firstworldess of how he presents it, paints such a ridiculous picture of him.

FanFckingTastic · 13/01/2023 11:47

@notanotheroneagain
You've made quite a few assertions that Harry had no access to the inheritance money that he was legally entitled to and that any money that he did have was being controlled. Can you share the details that you have to back these claims up, or is it just your opinion? It seems to me that there is plenty of evidence to suggest that Harry had plenty of money.

I'm sure he could get a pay pal account and flog a few second hand clothes on eBay if he really wanted too.

HaveYouSeenNancy · 13/01/2023 11:48

I don't understand why anyone would believe a single word written in Harry's big book of lies.

OMG12 · 13/01/2023 11:48

Both are multi millionaires in their own rights. Maybe she used her credit card to get insurance on the sofa? Who gives a shit, they both clearly had enough dish to buy any sofa they wanted - their personal choice! I suspect it’s more their lack of knowledge on how ordinary life (like buying sofas) works. It all sounds a bit “common people” by Pulp to me, wanting to play at being poor!

queenofarles · 13/01/2023 11:48

Serenster that’s another bracelet ,
Emily Andrews mentioned it when Meghan wore the tennis bracelet during the Fuji trip , she said it was a gift from Charles.

I’m sure he could. I was merely pointing out that any military pension he might be getting is negligible.

HaroldandWilly · 13/01/2023 11:54

I find it hilarious that the OP has just implied Chelsy Davy, who has a net worth of about $40million, was a gold digger. Hahaha

BananaCocktails · 13/01/2023 11:57

Why does anyone care Charles bank rolls Kate and William as well

BananaCocktails · 13/01/2023 11:58

And unlike Kate, Megan had her own personal wealth, Kate has taken from the public purse for many years now and didn’t have much capital when she married. William.

queenofarles · 13/01/2023 11:59

An IKEA sofa is £500 , a meal and few drinks at Soho house costs more than that,
it’s insane how he’s making a fuss about it.

Ridemeginger · 13/01/2023 12:00

So is it being implied that Meghan was under some kind of terrible hardship being asked to pay for her own wedding dress (if she did pay for it - recollections varying on this too). Did it have to be so expensive? Wouldn't it have been lovely if she had ditched the Givenchy idea, and worked with an independent British businesswoman of colour, to create something that didn't cost such a massive amount of money and celebrated everything Meghan stood for in entering the RF?

Aphrathestorm · 13/01/2023 12:00

Rich people are rich because they don't spend their money.

Do people really not get this??

She took him to a furniture village
I don't know why
But they had to start it somewhere
So it started there
He said pretend you've got no money
She just laughed and said
Oh you're so funny

I said; yeah
I can't see anyone else smiling in here

Are you sure?
You wanna live like common people
You wanna see whatever common people see
Wanna sleep with common people
You wanna sleep with common people
Like me

But they didn't understand
They just smiled and waved their Royal hand

Rent a flat above a shop
Cut your hair and get a job
Smoke some fags and play some pool
Pretend you never went to school
But still you'll never get it right
'Cause when you're laid in bed at night
Watching roaches climb the wall
If you called your dad he could stop it all, yeah

You'll never live like common people
You'll never do whatever common people do
You'll never fail like common people
You'll never watch your life slide out of view
And you dance and drink and screw

Because there's nothing else to do
Sing along with the common people
Sing along and it might just get you through
Laugh along with the common people
Laugh along even though they're really laughing at you
And the stupid things that you do

Because you think that poor is cool
Like a dog lying in a corner
They will bite you and never warn you
Look out, they'll tear your insides out
'Cause everybody hates a tourist

Especially one who thinks it's all such a laugh
Yeah and the chip stains and grease
Will come out in the bath
You will never understand
How it feels to live your life
With no meaning or control

And with nowhere left to go
You are amazed that they exist
And they burn so bright
Whilst you can only wonder why

I would be fuming if I was sofa.com, or IKEA for that matter.

They are decent companies who furnish millions of people ‘s homes worldwide. H&M talk about them as if it was the equivalent of going to the tip and finding a cardboard box to sit on.
A two bedroom detached house in central London with extensive private gardens, free. ( one that was good enough for the heir to the throne btw). Colour me outraged.

I was thinking to myself, I don't find ikea that cheap for furniture lol some bits are but not most of it

RedToothBrush · 13/01/2023 12:14

My biggest issue with IKEA lately is them actually having stock in when you want to buy something!!

I know! She stopped working to be with him and then she wasn’t even paid for some of the official engagements and she had to pay for basic stuff. I’m sorry - but a heater is something really basic and Harry should have provided this.

I don’t begrudge anything she’s done to earn money.

No Royal is "paid" for official engagements.

Their salary is the money given to them by the Monarch....

LaBrujaPiruja · 13/01/2023 12:16

Meghan was not worth $5m. Impossible.

I could believe she had half a million or so when she married H but no more than that.
