I read that and actually feel sick and also quite emotional about it.

It is so gratuitously cruel.

LavenderHillMob · 11/01/2023 09:39

He has an awful attitude towards people who work for a living. The very people who facilitate him.

This extract from todays times show his awful descriptions.

Simon Case, William’s private secretary, is referred to only as the Fly, while Sir Clive Alderton, Charles’s private secretary, is called the Wasp. They were, Harry said, “three middle-aged white men” who had consolidated power through “bold Machiavellian manoeuvres”.^

He writes: “The Bee was oval-faced and fuzzy and tended to glide around with great equanimity and poise, as if he was a boon to all.”

He says Alderton, a career diplomat who served as ambassador to Morocco, was so “weedy” and “self-effacing” one might be tempted to push back. “That was when he’d put you on his list,” writes Harry. “A short time later, without warning, he’d give you such a stab with his outsized stinger that you’d cry out in confusion. Where the f* did that come from?”

So how many people are actually reading the book and not just snippets spoon fed to them?

I think asking that question is frowned upon here. Everyone is clearly capable of making their own minds up based on carefully selected sections, deliberately chosen to reflect him in a bad light. Chosen by papers that he's currently suing.

So what's the context that puts that extract in a GOOD light?
I'm certainly not going to enrich Harry further by shelling out £28 for a full cooy

So are you saying that he didn't write that he mocked and tortured his disabled Matron? That the page we are looking at is somehow different from yours?

Are you saying that isn't in black and white that this happened? And under what possible context could that behaviour ever been seen as anything other than cruelty?

longwayoff · 11/01/2023 10:03

Oh, but he's a feminist, you know, so you must be 1. Twisting his words. 2. Brainwashed by the media twisting his words 3. Have completely misunderstood what he meant. You've used a 'mistruth' there OP. Any misogyny that is clear in the text is Not Harry's Fault. What with his being a Feminist and all. Tsk.

Try and keep up. You can purchase the book for £14 in Waterstones, and be safe in the knowledge that charities will be benefiting from sales. Hth.

The official charity of Meghan and Harry's private jet fund. As Archewell is now defunct.

Vile creature. He's so wrapped up in himself he doesn't 'see' anyone else.

How anyone will be able to listen to him pontificating about 'compassion' with a straight face after this is beyond me.

CathyorClaire · 11/01/2023 10:17

He's promised $1.5m to his own charity.

No doubt he'll be trousering the rest.

Swissmountains · 11/01/2023 10:17

Can you imagine living with someone that is this gas lighty. I am mean he is literally gas lighting the world with his lies and expecting at least some of us to believe his nonsense.

In Harry's house:

Pass me the cereal.
We don't have any cereal.
I am looking at the box.
No, that just says Kelloggs it does not say cereal
Okay fine, I will just have toast.

Archewell made a staggering $50,000 over the course of a whole year, according to their accounts, it doesn't even cover their overheads. It is not even viable anymore.

I think the charity Harry is referring to is the one he has set up for himself.

SnowAndIceLobelia · 11/01/2023 10:21

Oh I thought the charities mentioned were the charity shops when people have finished with the book.

The parts I've read remind me of the English homework my children did in Year 5 or 6 when they had to cram in as many adjectives as possible.

Do you understand what a ghost writer is?

He just sickens me even more after reading about this. What an awful person he must be.

Yep - what kind of person writes this, checks it over and finds it remotely acceptable? Poor woman.

No children's charities in the UK that he supports.

Archewell is registered in the state of Delaware, it’s shady accounting laws allowing them to trouser 95% of profit as ‘expenses’ and only requiring 5% to go to charitable endeavours.

had they registered it in California, where they live, that figure is reduced to 60%.

Go figure.

fUNNYfACE36 · 11/01/2023 10:25

I imagine 'pat' is an amalgamation of several people or details have been changed enough to mske her unrecognisable

CathyorClaire · 11/01/2023 10:29

It's all very murky.

We still have no clarity over how substantial donated funds originating in the Royal Foundation then placed into Travalyst (his private company) have been allocated.

How can that possibly be considered to be a 'charity'? If only 5% best case goes to anyone/anything in need. It is just smoke and mirrors. Their compassion for the world, their charities. It is all lies. The whole thing. And whilst once Harry cared about veterans etc, he has in fact abandoned most of his causes a long time ago in favour of inflating his own funds. Whilst telling us all to be kind and stop judging his private jet use (as he lectures us on the environment)

I've made up my mind myself reading the book that it was cruel, unkind and insenstive to include jibes about her appearance and disabilities

Who on earth thinks that this is a good story to recount? Did he have unconscious ableism?

CathyorClaire · 11/01/2023 10:35

And to add. This is the 'travel company' which managed to accrue debtors and creditors in amounts coincidentally very similar to the RF receipts during a global pandemic when no-one was travelling.

Any Jouno worth their salt should be following the charity claims and uncover the truth.

ThighMistress · 11/01/2023 10:44

Reminds me of when mil said “I donate to charity every week.” Knowing mil, I was very surprised, but thought I must have misjudged her. I had not. She went on to say that she put a green token in the Waitrose charity choices box when she went shopping.

And I think the same about H&M’s charitable endeavours - much trumpeting about very, very little.
