Kate you are playing a blinder, keep schtum & keep having the stiff upper lip. The queen would be so proud of you & William right now.
Your silence is speaking volumes. If someone I barely knew attempted to hug me, I would recoil, it's not appropriate as is overfamiliarity.
You have a great circle of friends from childhood & school you can trust who have your back & a wonderful family who raised you beautifully.
Millions of British people are so proud of how you are winning & owing this. Stay strong Kate, you've got this.

Oh, the face pulling at the wedding! I remember watching that at the time and thinking "wow!"
Just seemed so rude.

Cariadz · 11/01/2023 10:10

Oh come on now, I really struggle to imagine them making such faces if say the white Archbishop of Canterbury had overrun his time

You don't see non white people laughing at the self important, pompous tone of white preachers in general ‐ so why laugh at how black preachers preach differently unless you think your way of being is innately superior to theirs?

I doubt the Archbishop would ever overrun his time when the RF is present. But I’m quite sure he could do so, just like any other clergyman, on any given Sunday and leave his parishioners making faces to the person next to them and saying - he didn’t half bloody well go on this week. I’ve done it myself. Have also sat there thinking - is he ever going to stop.

warmzebra · 11/01/2023 10:12

@Cariadz Say Japanese royals were pissing themselves laughing at a Eucharist ceremony that overran its time, come now, do you really think they were laughing at time management, or the fact that Brits have a different ceremonial style they consider naff and inferior to their own?

You'd do that as a representative of Britain while televised across the world? Assuming it's nothing to do with his race/black Southern associated preaching style (which I find hard to believe), what would be the point of your being literally paid to represent the UK then? Just funding a bunch of overgrown toddlers dressed up in what looks like the adult equivalent of frilly onesies

Cariadz · 11/01/2023 10:20

No one was pissing themselves laughing.

To to be very honest, quite often when I’ve seen things from a different perspective I’ve laughed myself, at myself, or something going on.

And I’ve had a lot of practice at it over many decades as someone who lives in and has embraced a very different culture to the one she grew up in and left when I was 18.

MrsPeachBottom · 11/01/2023 10:28

If it were an Italian preacher getting emotional in a thick accent and talking about history and love, I really think people would think it was romantic & great. I don’t think anyone would notice the time spent as it was extra minutes in an already long ceremony.

i think the attitude is that Americans and emotional Americans aren’t classy & aren’t high brow don’t belong near royals or the Queen in the same room.

Also if you have any empathy for the plight of minorities, black people, the history of slavery and the impact of colonialism - eg English arrivals only 100-200 years ago and what it did to Australian indigenous people - they basically covered up genocide and massacres.

if you have any care for a reality beyond your own white privilege one then his speech would be moving and worth spending time listening to. They weren’t even listening or caring about how it was a moment in history and a chance for unity. The message was overshadowed by Camilla and late chuckling under their couture hats & Zara looking like she was doing a pregnancy poo and didn’t care who saw her facial expressions.

In this case be was a faithful man and wanted to use his platform to spread his message about unity & love & how momentous the occasion was given racism in the world. That’s not what he said but I imagine that’s why he thought it was worth going over…

He was given permission by the Church of England.

Cariadz · 11/01/2023 10:30

I’m pretty sure the late Queen wasn’t chuckling. And it was in fact 3 others.

Meghan is a mixed race American who is marrying into the British Royal Family with a history steeped in colonialism.
King Charles kindly arranged for a Gospel choir to sing in order to reflect Meghan’s black heritage.
A black American Archbishop conducts a sermon.
Some members of the royal family decide to pull faces during the sermon…..and stifle their laughter.
The optics were terrible . No excuse

Thanks hun.
Honestly I'm still FEWMING about that dress.
First fucking Pippa showing me up on my day with her arse and then Char has to wear a lampshade at Harold's. I can't fucken win!

Omg Pippas arse! That's right, I had forgotten about that 🤣🤣🤣 Now those dresses fitted well!!

MissTrip82 · 11/01/2023 10:34

You would ‘recoil’ if your brother-in-law’s new partner with whom he is besotted hugged you? Really?

How staggeringly rude.

It doesn’t have to be your thing but politeness would surely prevail.

I find it very hard to believe that Kate would have been so rude, no matter what her feelings.

He would have to have done more than speak with (as you put it) a thick Italian accent and talk about history and love to make the lasting impression the Bishop has for some.

I saw two interviews including the late show one recently and Harry looks worn down and upset

Surely not the one that @vera99 linked a few posts above yours? Stephen Colbert. Harry comes across really well. Relaxed, amusing, reflective and the audience loved him.

OP... the 'yankeeWally' tumblr link. I cannot believe your ignorance on this person. She was exposed as one of the 25 accounts used to promote hate and division, and she has actually been banned from YouTube and Twitter and has been arrested at one point.

Read this...
One of the most prominent anti-Meghan and Harry accounts promoting the “moonbump” theory was run by Sadie Quinlan, a Welsh pensioner who heavily promoted the false narrative that Meghan was never pregnant. Her account, called Yankee Wally, accumulated almost 19 million views and earned around $44,000 a year, according to Bot Sentinel’s findings. YouTube banned the account in March, citing violations of its policy against content designed to harass, bully or threaten.
Quinlan inadvertently revealed she had been buying up fake Twitter accounts in bulk to promote her cause. She also posted videos on YouTube showing viewers how to make negative reviews about Meghan’s book rise to the top of Amazon’s book review list.
Yankee Wally identified as one of at least 25 accounts devoted to posting round-the-clock anti-Meghan content on YouTube, with almost 500 million combined views and an estimated $3.5 million in YouTube earnings.

OP. Your sources are hateful.

warmzebra · 11/01/2023 10:39

Oh dear, if you genuinely believe the Royals would likewise have pulled faces at one of their own (eg Justin Welby) overruning his timeslot, all I can say is that you're pitifully naive and slavish. They take pomp and ceremony very seriously, when it's in their own image and one of their lot.

If you've grown up around different cultures, I'd have expected you to be more alive to the nuances of behaviour around "ingroup" and "outgroup" members. It doesn't make us bad people, it's psychologically and sociologically verified that we all subconsciously do it, you and me included.

But most grown ups know you can think "wtf, how naff" about a different cultural norm, but you shouldn't display it on your face out of respect. Especially on national telly and if you're literally paid to exist to represent your country. However I truly hope you enjoy your slavish existence defending people who almost certainly don't hold your social subgroup in high or even decent regard either — and won't be afraid to show it publicly!

I've seen the most disgusting pathetic slurs on here today. But then that's what happens when you weaponise mob hate for a political end. One begins to understand how actual witch hunts and burnings happened though I supposed we shouldn't be surprised it wasn't long ago in geological time when we lived in caves grunting at the moon !

On a serious note, this whole royal issue really upsets me and has gotten beyond the joke.

I saw two interviews including the late show one recently and Harry looks worn down and upset.

he says, “say what you want because I’m stuck in this chair” and then goes on at length about the press twisting his words about killing people in Afghanistan. He looks fragile, nervous, on edge, not himself.

after watching the itv interview for myself you can see he’s really in pain about his family and his mothers death.

I can’t help but wonder why the royals don’t care. This poor man is worn out.

he’s given his version of events to Oprah and Netflix to find beingn a list and security - big deal.

seems like they’re all at fault here for letting the press feast on his wife & giving them a break.

I don’t think he’s a whiner, think he’s worn out. His whole life has been marred by tragedy and now he’s in a prison where he can’t be free from the press and is constantly defending twisted stories. He has zero freedom as one of the most recognised men in the world.

He can do whatever he wants because he has always had minders clearing his way, for wherever who wants to go.

See my post above!

This person has been arrested and banned from Twitter and YouTube. She ran a co-ordinated fake news campaign of hate against Meghan.
Elon Musk I think has let her back on Twitter so the hate for money and racism continues.
