Kate you are playing a blinder, keep schtum & keep having the stiff upper lip. The queen would be so proud of you & William right now.
Your silence is speaking volumes. If someone I barely knew attempted to hug me, I would recoil, it's not appropriate as is overfamiliarity.
You have a great circle of friends from childhood & school you can trust who have your back & a wonderful family who raised you beautifully.
Millions of British people are so proud of how you are winning & owing this. Stay strong Kate, you've got this.

Opening post was cringeworthy.

‘You got this Kate’ has made the hairs on my arms stand up with embarrassment.

I bet you were one of those girls who had to phone a helpline when Take That split up.

Kate gave birth on 23/4/18.

H & M got married on 19/5/18.

Assuming the bridesmaids final fittings were approx a week before the wedding, the PoW would potentially be post partum-ly hormonal and sleep deprived (unless they were availing themselves of a night nanny).

Kate seems to have considered after the spat, that Meghan would be stressed about the wedding and hence made an allowance, apologised/took flowers etc.

Meghan, saved the actual details of the situation for future character assassination use, giving no consideration to Kate having given birth less than 2 weeks before the event.

Well, that's my take on the situation anyway.

I am Aussie but & I don’t like hugging but we have all sorts of cultures here and I would take no issue with someone that did want to hug. Given that she’s riding the heir and the person she’s meeting is riding the spare, I’d say that’s something to bond over and motivation to speed up the getting to know you process. I find the commenters on here take themselves very seriously & are very guarded & unaware that other cultures might meet future in-laws/interact differently and that’s okay - perhaps that’s the issue really isn’t it - that a white English Princess 👸 should decide how a biracial Commoner should greet her in her own home, not the other way around. I’ve had French and Italians greet me with face kisses. You’re all acting like Meghan went up to someone on the metro and gave them a bear hug.

On the issue of bridesmaids dresses, seems hard to imagine that Givenchy didn’t have a plan for their biggest publicity moment and that all hands were on deck. The dressmaker was at Kensington Palace and they have help. I am sure someone from Givenchy could have pulled an all nighter in the worst case. To me it feels like a power play and a sabotage abs competition.

I think KM has had amazing publicity these last years and even in the midst of some fairly awful Rumours. That surely came at a cost to someone.

GlumShoe · 10/01/2023 17:14

Op, are you Joe Lycett?

If so, good work!

If not, are you 6?

I agree with you there, it's bad enough when your mum tells your friends about a story from your childhood when you had a "strop" as a toddler.

For it to be forever immortalised in a book that when you were 3/4 you cried because your flower dress girl didn't fit for your aunty's wedding. Is harsh on the kid.

We all know what kids are like, what if one of her schoolmates who isn't too nice finds out, will they tease her "you cried because your dress didn't fit" kinda thing. 😳

Behave! Nobody will be teasing Charlotte about crying as a three year old.
They might "tease" her about her "pedo" Uncle though.

Best thread about the Royals yet! Kate is probably reading it with a family size bag of Monster Munch.

Totally this. Can't believe others don't see that. Point is, Kate apologied and, if you were to look at it objectively - based on messages seen - Meghan's was most definitely the most rude. Plus she apparently didn't respond to Kate for a long time either.

But the Take That comment was comedy gold. Should be framed. Hahahahah

junglistmassive · 10/01/2023 17:20

This has to be a wine up, surely!

Mrswhirley · 10/01/2023 17:20

@MissHavishamsMouldyOldCake 😂🤣😂🤣 best comment I’ve ever seen on MN!!!

MrsPeachBottom · 10/01/2023 17:21

And for goodness sake with praising the royals for ‘dignified silence’ they’ve just been outted by one of their own for leaking, planting, briefing, spoon feeding and basically doing everything but blowing the British press to control the narrative as much as possible.

Clearly they weren’t keeping a dignified silence all these years & their press office wasn’t working for M&H’s reputation and name… because they’re now chatting to Oprah, 60 minutes and living in California & blowing up the secret strategies of press PR.

Lampzade · 10/01/2023 17:22

Tbh I am beginning to believe that Kate is not as lovely as we have been made to believe.
I think her behaviour with the regard to the bridesmaids dress was awful tbh.
They had a tailor who was readily available to do alterations. All Kate had to do was take the dress to be altered.
To actually contact Meghan, (who was most probably stressed and having issues with her father ) was not a nice thing to do.

GyozaGuiting · 10/01/2023 17:24

God this place is awful sometimes. I think the Op was trying to be kind. Doesn’t deserve this pile on.

Florissant · 10/01/2023 17:26

Catherine, you are doing a great job.

Don't pay attention to the Ginger Whinger and his toxic wife.

Iamacatslave · 10/01/2023 17:28

Comedy gold.

SequinsandStilettos · 10/01/2023 17:29

Trying to be kind with an OTT sycophantic post and username to someone she doesn't know, who would deem her the hoi polloi = beyond weird, even for a troll post.

If it was too long, it doesn't require a tailor to take the hem up. Anyone with basic sewing skills could do it.

This is completely correct. Keep in mind Meghan’s belief that Kate had just given birth and so needed special sensitivity was thrown out by Kate and William (the latter of whom shoved his finger in her face)… so evidently no special accommodations need be made.

It’s astonishing to me the dissonance people seem to have: “H&M dragging a girl into an argument…” but Kate was the one who did that? And if Harry censored the texts, you wouldn’t believe him, as made clear by those who want to see more texts while simultaneously saying it’s dreadful to share private messages.

I don’t love the woo stuff, but my god I wish Harry would have our country back and we can ditch the PoP and the King for him. Can’t stand being associated with cheaters and paedophiles, it’s embarrassing.
