Tbh I am beginning to believe that Kate is not as lovely as we have been made to believe.
I think her behaviour with the regard to the bridesmaids dress was awful tbh.
They had a tailor who was readily available to do alterations. All Kate had to do was take the dress to be altered.
To actually contact Meghan, (who was most probably stressed and having issues with her father ) was not a nice thing to do.

Why would it be shocking though that Kate might not be a wonderful person? We know nothing about her because she keeps her mouth shut.

That sounds implausible - unless Kate was fussing and tutting in front of her about it. Three year olds haven’t got a clue, that’s why they stroll about in dress up and think they look wonderful, regardless of how tailored it is.

I haven’t read any of this particular scene but three year olds are apt to cry over stiff formal dresses just because they aren’t that comfortable, and because they are three and cry at anything
