Best Prince Harry Interview so far by GMA

Some serious questions were at last asked by the interviewer - he did a better job in ten minutes than any other has done in 90, but Harry is so brainwashed he somehow manages to bat them away? He really cannot see any wrongdoing on his part.

I am buying the book because I'm seriously interested to hear these 'examples' of leaks.

Across all the interviews (and NF and OW) - it’s been hard to follow who “they” are - he flips and flops between it meaning the tabloids or the RF or Camilla or Will or Wills office……

He has had hours and hours of non challenging broadcast opportunities to get his message across and it becomes more confusing as the days, months, years roll by……

I think the accusation is that say a journalist would contact the palace to verify a story about a family member, e.g. Camilla, the palace would say please don’t print that, here we’ll give you this about Harry instead. But there are no examples of these stories which were allegedly fed to the press, and furthermore Camilla and Charles were long married by the time Meghan came on the scene. To use one of their favourite phrases, it doesn’t make sense. Oh and when pressed the only thing Harry can come up with that the palace didn’t ‘protect’ them from was about a stupid spat over bridesmaids dresses.

My favorite baseball player is named Joey Votto. He's my one true love. He has a reputation of being kind, intelligent, and hard-working. He did an interview and the interviewer commented that he is the most boring man in baseball. He said "exactly, that's by design." Maybe Harry needs to get JV in charge of his PR.

I agree with this. I'm not sure he knows who to blame really, he couldn't even describe the three court cases on ITV, it was left to TB to do it.

Just watched the 60 minutes with Anderson Cooper - or actually 28 minutes as it was on the itv hub

There is definitely compassion for a young boy who lost his mum and then for years still told himself that she was still alive and was hiding from the press. He has a lot of demons that he needs to work through. The army gave him the structure and normality he needed but when he came out of the army I think he had lasting trauma from his mum and further trauma from the army (as many ex service people do). Would things have been different if he stayed? It seemed to give him a purpose other than “the spare”

I think he genuinely needs help and his family know that. However in their own very English aristocracy way they have been probably ignoring that and telling him to keep that stiff upper lip going which is very sad

I do think Camilla has been very close with the press, just look at her lunch with Clarkson days before that column, but sounds like all the offices are as bad as each other and overall it’s just very dysfunctional

Honestly I don’t think he will ever get the peace he says he wants

Just seen BBC 10 pm news and they clear up one of PH accusations about Camilla leaking / briefing to The Sun that she had met William when he was 16.

Editor or The Sun (at that time) came on to explain that PH was mistaken - Camilla’s PA had inadvertently confirmed they had met - it was all out in the open that the PA made a mistake and she then resigned.

If that’s all PH has on her it’s a bit embarrassing that he didn’t do a fact check on his harshest claim - leaves his credibility in the bin.

The Sun editor also said that members of the palace didn’t brief against each other - but at times there were deals done when if they had a bad story on one of them they would withhold it if the palace gave them something else to run.

Makes you wonder if the palace leaking / briefing was actually to cover up more of PH stuff than to expose him as he claims?

That's what I thought each time he blamed the press for going against him "all his life". Seriously, the things he's done in his younger years did do himself any favours. Yet he blames the press and took no responsibility himself to reflect who created the controversial materials to be reported about!

I sympathise him, but he really need to grow up and be an adult.

He's determined to believe what he wants to believe. Nobody can convince him, as all are conspiracies to him. Sad.

I think these days that equates to pictures of the kids. We all know what has happened but not in a sadistic way just the way it goes. All famous people do it.

Ok, I'm in the US, and I don't understand about all these "briefings." I assumed it was someone (Camilla?) was leaking stories about Harry to the press. Is there evidence of this, and if so, how do bad stories about Harry make Camilla look better? Or have I completely misunderstood?

None of it makes sense when looked at logically.

The tabloids can and did write positive stories about both at the same time, as well as negative.

Harry seems to feel any positive stories about other members is distracting positive attention away from him.

AFAIK he hasn't yet given any concrete examples other 1. The 1 he gave he claimed Camilla deliberately leaked about a meeting between her and William that went well. In actuial fact it wasn't a deliberate leak, but one of her assistants had mentioned about it privately to her husband who then had been indiscreet in gossiping a bit about it weeks later at a tennis match with someone who knew someone who knew Rupert Murdoch and it ended up in The Sun.

It was fully documented that's how it happened years ago and the assistant involved took full responsibility and resigned.

It’s all very, very sad.
I understand what PH is claiming in that the press will say we are going to run a story about X and the palace say oh no don’t do that, instead have this story. But again, what ‘dirt’ was ever said about PH or Megan?
I believe the press are vile. They have been vile about many members of the royal family; Diana, Catherine, Camilla, Princess Anne ( although she has always taken the stance of sod off you scummy press and good for her), Princess Margaret, King Charles, Prince Edward, Sarah Ferguson. I can even remember the hatred towards Prince Andrew’s former girlfriend Koo Stark. It’s I’ve if the reasons why I would never buy the gutter press.
Again what stories have been told?I think PH is going through some kind of breakdown and is if the opinion that everyone is out to get him.
Having family disputes is part of life. Don’t most siblings argue? There are plenty of benefits to being the spare as he calls it, plenty.
I hope he seeks help for whatever he is going through.

Certainly better than the fawnfest that was Oprah! But he failed to even gently press H - allowing him to evade. For example the issue of him renouncing his titles was not really dealt with at all.

I must admit I never gave that a thought!

I thought the interview was very good and though I felt sad at some of it, I was quite impressed with Harry and feel that he and Meghan will be able to move on from this and do some good. However he will always miss his family.

The interview only dealt with part of the book so I will wait until I've read and digested that before commenting further. I should get it tomorrow.

I am starting to despair - he just won't stop talking.

He is ruining his life with every word he says or writes.

With everything he says, I feel less and less opinionated.

I wish them all well but the NHS is in crisis. It's really fucking serious and this man is dominated the media with his unfathomable narrative.

I actually think the media are being irresponsible in covering his 'story'. While we all ponder Harry's life and unhappiness, people are actually dying.

The leaking/ briefing accusation makes reasonable sense to me.

  1. You have an insatiable press pushing for stories, constantly investigating intrusively and willing to make up crap if unsatisfied.
  2. Family members all have their own personal branding/ reputation needs - both to be viable as successful RF members and for the sake of their personal egos and self preservation.
  3. The media beast must be fed.
  4. Both tactically, if they get wind of negative stories pending about them, they can do an explicit deal to offer something else on another family member if they don't print on an individual case basis.
  5. I can also imagine a longer term agreement - for example, that Camilla makes, for the major newspapers essentially to go easy on her, if she acts as an ongoing source during her time in the palace. (I have to say, I've always been surprised by the seeming turnaround in her reputation in Britain and her treatment in the press, so I really don't think this is impossible.)
  6. My understanding is that while Camilla's counterbriefing was recognized by both W and H and they swore never to do it to each other, he believes Will and Kate started doing the same thing when they started feeling threatened by/ jealous of H and M's popularity, and needed to bury rumours about their own marriage.

Doesn't sound fantastical to me. All through history Royal siblings and extended family have warred against one another to jostle for personal success, power and recognition. Often through actual war.... This is a modern day, media version.

All very sad.

In fact, I think MN should ban new threads on Harry.

There are things we should be discussing - this is a guy who doesn't seem in control of his life, talking about everything that has ever happened to him.

If he were my friend I would be pleading with him to just shut up and pay a good therapist before his entire life falls apart.
