Anyone else think Kate is coming across as a bit precious and over-sensitive? Baby brain, lip gloss etc.

I'll start by saying I know there are 2 sides to every story. Also, I'm not a Megan fan. I have no idea what she's like. She might be awful. I neither like her, nor dislike her. I feel the same way about Kate.

But anyway, in light of the stories that Harry is telling, does anyone else feel that Kate (and William) comes across as rather precious and over sensitive?

First of all there's the baby brain incident. Apparently Kate forgot something or made a mistake and Megan responded by saying "Oh don't worry, it's probably the baby brain". Kate then feels insulted by this remark and says something along the lines of "You don't me well enough to comment on my hormones". William joins in by pointing his finger at Megan and saying "It's rude Megan, we don't do that here." I mean seriously?? I think the baby brain remark was completely benign. I'm sure Megan was trying to reassure Kate not to worry about her mistake. Just after having my baby I paid for my shopping and walked out leaving it in the shop. The cashier had to call me back and I apologised. She also said "Don't worry, it's the baby brain". I wasn't at all offended. I was relieved she understood! I certainly didn't think "How dare a stranger comment on my hormones". The irony of William telling Megan off for rudeness whilst pointing his finger at her. I find it far more rude to point in someone's face than to mention baby brain. If I was Megan and had received that reaction to my innocent remark I would have felt humiliated and very upset.

Then there's the lipgloss incident. Megan asked to borrow Kate's lipgloss. Kate lends it to her then gets upset that she dabs it with her finger. I understand some people don't want to share lip gloss but Kate could have said no. I don't understand what's so upsetting about Megan using her finger? If I lent someone my lip gloss I'd insist they used their finger and not their mouth. Apparently the mouth harbours more germs than your average toilet.

Then there's the report that William and Kate were uncomfortable being hugged by Megan. There are literally hundreds of photos of William and Kate hugging random strangers on the internet! Yet when Megan makes this faux pas it's offensive to them.

It seemed like William and Kate expected to be treated with great formality by Megan - as if she was one of their subjects. It also seems that Megan couldn't do anything right! Megan on the other hand perhaps expected a little more intimacy given that they were her partner's family. It doesn't sound like they did much to make her feel comfortable and welcome in to the family. Does anyone agree/disagree?

No, in both cases the women are misogynistically attacked by sexist chauvinist misogynists like yourself who think women are 'ambitious' and the man is 'weak' and 'vulnerable', when that sort of dangerously misogynistic prejudiced bullshit just shows the backward, distorted mindset that you have. This is 2023, not the 1940s. Your backward, sexist, toxic masculinity is not welcome in this century, decade, or millenium. In this era, we know men have their own minds and are responsible for their own actions, and women are not evil succubuses who control men. In both cases, the men picked women who bettered them and made them better men.

Better men? In whose estimation? Certainly not in the estimation of anyone who knew or loved either of them before they were ensnared, and in John’s case, destroyed.

Yes, some men know their own minds and are responsible for their own actions. Other men are weak, paranoid, drug-addled; obsessed with their mothers, jealous of their brothers. Easy prey in other words, especially when someone comes along who reminds them of mummy.

Dangerously misogynistic? Whatever, love.

I disagree simply because we’ve only heard one biased side of the story, and it was told in a way that was deliberately intended to make Kate look like she’s being over sensitive.

Its not Kate that’s being a drama queen and acting like a victim just because she had some expected press attention, and that fact speaks for itself.

People who make this point are missing the ENTIRE POINT Harry is trying to make. For years the royals have been feeding the press anonymously to get their side across, hiding behind labels of 'royal insiders' or 'palace officials'. Kate and William, Charles and Camilla have been leaking and planting their side all along. This is Harry's response. He says this repeatedly. I don't understand why people aren't getting it and tripping out the whole Kate and William are so dignified in their silence line. It's so more nuanced and backstabbing than that. That's his whole point!!!!

I know the married 3 days before bit has been done to death, but this bit really sticks out to me:

We called the Archbishop and we just said, ‘Look, this thing, this spectacle is for the world but we want our union between us.

It’s the ‘we called the archbishop.

If it was indeed a rehearsal, it would have been booked in advanced. They wouldn’t have called him and said ‘look…’

It reads like they’re saying he only came at their request to give them a private ceremony.
Which he stated he didn’t do.

But did he go there and give them some sort of blessing instead? The way it’s worded indicates it wasn’t a prearranged rehearsal.

From what I can see of his book (disclaimer: not read it!) he hasn’t accused William and Kate of leaking anything?
Just that they haven’t gone out of their way to stop people.
Which is a slightly different thing.
He actually says Camilla is the one who leaked the crying story as well.

Maybe they just think there’s no point, because it draws more eyes to it

HappY to be corrected if he has accused them directly though, as I say I haven’t read it

With regard to the baby brain incident.
Apparently Kate forgot the time of the rehearsal. Meghan told her that it was okay that it was just ‘baby brain’ and it was the ‘hormones ‘obviously trying to reassure her
Apparently, both William and Kate took umbrage, hence the finger wagging.

It’s like on Bake-off Sometimes it’s simply unsalvageable and the best thing to do is start again. It’s also very hard to start mucking around with alterations in expensive fabrics. Seams and darts etc leave visible holes in the fabric. And often it will be faster to just start again rather than painstakingly unpicking every seam and then recutting damaged fabric.

KM is not a seamstress. A dressmaker had concluded that he could alter the dresses. That was the end of that. As far as we could see during the wedding, the kids looked lovely.

I must have a really bad eye for kids clothes because I think they all looked lovely on the day. I loved the simplicity of the dresses, and the boys looked fab too. George smiling in the group family shot was lovely. And I’m no monarchist.

Exactly
I didn’t need Harry to tell me that the royals get their point across via ‘sources’
and “ palace insiders’. I thought it was blatantly obvious that the RF get someone else to do their bidding.
What about the reports that William was supposedly concerned about his brother and wanted to put his arms around him.?
Where do you think that information came from ?

I thought baby brain was an insult, but now that I have context I think it was a bit of a clumsy way to reassure Kate that all was okay. If W&K took umbridge at that, imo it was an over the top emotional response.

Kate gets a pass to my mind because she was 3 weeks post natal, but William does sound a bit too precious.

The supposed insider’s account should be taken with a pinch of salt
The fact that the ‘insider’ said that Meghan made Catherine cry when we all now know that it was Catherine who made Meghan cry makes me doubt the authenticity of the whole piece to be honest.

AliceOlive · 11/01/2023 02:34

@Lampzade I agree with taking internet posts with a grain of salt. Also, “we all know” posts. We don’t “all know” something just because Harry or Meghan said so.

Harry said Meghan crowd at home though.
He said he found her crying on the floor.

If that happened, no one would have known anything about anyone crying. So someone must have been crying.

So I’m inclined to believe Kate cried in the shop, Meghan later cried to Harry at home.

steff13 · 11/01/2023 02:47

My biggest question is this: what lipgloss did Kate use that was flattering to both her and Meghan? They have very different coloring. I'm a lipgloss aficionado, and I need to know.

Also, do y'all have to get new passports now that the Queen has passed away?

I'm also a crier - I cry nearly every day. I've never laid down on the floor to cry. That's very dramatic.

That makes no sense. What would their motive be?? They know Harry’s mental health is on a knife edge, why would they want to make that worse? Why would they want the media to report puerile, unseemly tittle tattle about their family members? How do they benefit from that? It makes the whole institution look bad. The RF just want to have a quiet life.

On the other hand, Meghan has long been shown to be responsible for leaks - especially to Omid Scobie. Equally, courtiers with a grudge (such as the staff M& H allegedly bullied) may well have a motivation to leak embarrassing details to the press.

And many of the damaging stories about them involved situations where there would have been multiple witnesses.

Harry has already explained what the motive is on several occasions. It is to deflect attention from the misdeeds of other members of the Royal Family .
This was one of the major issues and why both himself and Meghan felt that they were being fed to the wolves.
One thing I notice on MN is that some posters are using Harry’s mental challenges as a way to discredit what he says. It is the same thing that was done to his mother.
They called her unhinged, crazy , hysterical when she said anything that they didn’t like.
It is disingenuous and very lazy in my humble opinion

I had heard some of this before, from another source - and the comments that follow.
Sums up Meghan. Harry is so like his mother, not very bright, easily taken in. But without her essential goodness
