The royal family

So the Royal Family isn’t racist?

Harrysfrostbittentodger · 08/01/2023 23:09

That’s what I took from Harry’s recent interview. That they didn’t accuse the royal family of being racist in the Oprah interview?!

How are other people viewing this?

Even if they didn't mean to call them racist in the Oprah interview, which I don't believe because the did, they know the whole world was assuming that's what they implied ... so why not speak out ... not leave it two years then try and take it back ... these clowns are completely disgraceful lying narcissists- I'm flabbergasted 😮

Of course they did on Oprah, well M did. Remember Oprah's "WHAT"!! Then Harry walked in all uncomfortable and said he wouldn't talk about it. Surely, that would've been the time to backtrack. I don't think they were lying with that specific incident, I do think they're now trying to backtrack

Cariadz · 09/01/2023 05:06

Personally,I wonder why nobody non white is not talking about the elephant in the room; the good possibility that the somebody didn't mention what Archie would look like from a place of concern, but the fact that what Archie would look like triggered Megan.

Very Good point. I’ve always been very suspicious of the fact she didn’t identify as black, or had been treated as a black woman, till she met Harry. And of course it’s all she is now. Everything is about being black.

And yet people still believe a word that they say. It's all bullshit. They could have easily set the record straight after the Oprah interview, when the queen was still alive and said they weren't accusing them of racism. Instead he let his grandmothers final years be miserable. What a Prince hey. I hope they get the backlash they deserve. They are nothing but spoilt, narcissistic whiners

^^Absolutely this.

What did Harry complain about with the Royal Family and silence? And them not setting the record straight?

Yet again, it's one rule for Harry and Meghan, and another for everyone else.

I understand people having sympathy for a young boy who lost his mum but that boy is now a 40 yr old man who's acting like a petulant child, and changing stories to suit his mood. I cannot even begin to fathom why anyone believes what comes out of his mouth. I agree HE may actually believe what he says but it falls apart under scrutiny. I really can't grasp why anyone is softening to what is yet another attempt to use the media for his own benefit - while simultaneously complaining about the media and his privacy. Utterly, utterly bonkers.

FlairBand · 09/01/2023 05:13

Meghan actually said it would be “damaging” for them to reveal who said it.

They knew exactly what they were doing.

This such BS. gaslighting at its absolute finest. The two of them have no idea at all what they’re saying or what they want anymore.

I actually think they may be realising they’ve gone too far and they have no idea how to fix it.

Was any of this worth losing his family over? Especially if they’re not now racist after all?

FlairBand · 09/01/2023 05:22

And Oprah specifically asked (the likely planted question) of whether M thought Archie wasn’t getting titles because of his race. Those were the words used. If that’s not discussing racism then what is?

I can’t see how H&M can reconcile their comments over this…

Alleycat1 · 09/01/2023 06:26

I have always thought it possible, especially as the point was raised before a child was conceived, that the concern was how the press would comment on a dark-skinned child, or a dark-skinned child with ginger hair and not the fact that the child might actually be dark-skinned and/or with ginger hair. Whatever, for H to backtrack now, especially as he and Meghan have just received an award for standing up against racism in the RF, is clear indication that he is aware that he has burnt his bridges and is desperately trying to limit the damage. Unfortunately for the dim-wit his and Meghan's comments are on tape, were heard by millions and cannot be unsaid.

rwalker · 09/01/2023 06:31

Tbf Oprah was twisting manipulating and driving the interview in the way she wanted it to go
cleverly insinuating

she lost me at the ridiculous over the top “shocked” face she pulled with mouth open for affect
seen better acting at primary school plays

Maireas · 09/01/2023 06:41

They made a clear and explicit link between concerns about Archie's skin colour and whether or not he'd be a prince.

Paperdolly · 09/01/2023 06:55

Strikes me that H was being interviewed without M to touch him or stare at him when he was speaking thus guiding the narrative. H must have thought he could fly free in this interview and he messed it up. I bet M was seething!!! A bit like his Uncle Andrew making a hash of his interview. 🙄

trucklebrunch · 09/01/2023 06:56

I thought they won the Ripple Award for fighting racism in the royal family?

Now he says the RF aren't racist, just racially biased and they never said they were - but the press twisted their words.

Harrysfrostbittentodger · 09/01/2023 06:58

Here’s another thing that’s been playing on my mind since these interviews/book extracts.

Will Harry’s use of the term ‘unconscious bias’ be used by racists to dismiss actual accusations of racism?

Totally changing "their truth" coz they realise how things have gone down.

I think the answer you’d receive to that is only as much as people with ‘unconscious bias’ were accused of being racist.

MissMarpleRocks · 09/01/2023 07:17

Wonder how Oprah feels this morning? She didn’t do a good job in that interview. At least Tom Bradby tried to push back.

sashagabadon · 09/01/2023 07:37

They’ve lost track of their own story and it turns out the rf is right. You can’t control the media and it is a fools game to try.
and a bit of throwing Oprah under the bus too.

Do your family speak about certain aspects of appearance from a place of ‘concern’?

If someone was concerned about what my baby would look like that wouldn’t be ‘beautiful’.

It really hinges on what was said to Harry. I would know the difference between concern and excited curiosity and I’m sure Harry would too.

M&H have told so many whoppers now that no one can trust any thing they say.

By the time M was pregnant the RF knew M was difficult and H was fully under the influence, so I would be amazed if any one (other than prince Phillip) used the term concern, unless it was concern over how the more unpleasant side of society/media would react to a dark skinned baby and if M&H we

What's the difference?

Well, you have to ask Harry I guess.

Calling someone a p* on camera isn’t racist though, apparently 🤦‍♀️

Museya15 · 09/01/2023 07:49

Anyone else sick of the word "narrative?"wasn't it Meghan who started that trend? It makes me want to scream when I hear or read it!!

Yes, but not quite as much as I'm sick of the word 'authentic' especially when it usually comes from the mouths of two people who are anything but.

Well I guess that depends on whether that is your authentic narrative or not!

^^Very much this!!

But not as sick as I am of hearing the phrase "their truth" - not just relating to Harry and Meghan, but other modern celebrities too.

Saying it's "their" truth feels like a way of letting them spout utter bollocks which no one is allowed to challenge because it's "their truth". Not the actual truth, but "their truth". That's not even a thing. It infuriates me!

You can have your "perception" but not "your truth". Truth is factual and isn't open to interpretation. It's a meaningless modern phrase which drives me potty because it grants free licence for people to lie - as far as I can see from what's occurring, specifically with H & M.

Ericaequites · 09/01/2023 08:17

@RealMcKoy - As a life long Rhode Islander, we have many people of color in the cities and larger towns, such as Providence, Pawtucket, and Newport. Some rural towns are 95+% white, but this is common in New England and Upstate New York.

Bunionbabe · 09/01/2023 08:19

Didn't William issue a statement saying that the family weren't racist? Given that the family have issued no other statements they obviously saw they were being called racists so had to respond. It's unlikely they would have misunderstood HM's insinuations.

Difficult like fucking trafficked teens and laundering money? Or difficult like being a mixed race Californian in a white conservative upper class family??
