Just settling down with a glass of wine, Harry and Anderson Cooper. Sunday night goals!

MoirasSaggyBundles · 09/01/2023 00:23

One of the problems with the time Diana died was the lack of established trust between the Palace and no. 10. Had John Major still been PM, I think he could have steered the Queen down a better path than was taken. However, it was a relatively new PM, Tony Blair, at the helm, and he really seized the narrative and pushed the populist position that the Queen and Diana's children and ex had to engage in the public display of hysteria in order to prove their grief. The whole thing was absolutely disgusting, and I agree with PP that anyone engaging in the flagellation outside Kensington Palace should really feel ashamed when they see the results in Harry's behaviour today.

MoscowMules · 09/01/2023 00:03

The public at the time we're to blame for this. The walk abouts and the hand shaking.

The Queen by all accounts wanted the boys kept in Scotland. But the public would not cease in their pressure to see the family grieving. The demanded their return to London. Baying for grieving blood.

The whole episode of public grieving around Diana's death was sycophantic and abhorrent.

Honestly anyone who joined in with that should be ashamed of themselves, publicly wailing and throwing themselves on their knees. It was fucking odd!

Spot on, the public were vile, egged on by the press. What grandmother in those circumstances would be expected to go back to work and ignore her grandsons? If anyone said this at the time though, as I did, it was almost tar and feathering.

Absolutely.. A good cognitive behavioural therapist should help the client to help themselves, ''To become their own therapist''.

@oakleaffy there are other therapists that exist in case you didn't know, not just cognitive behavioural therapists. Don't just assume! I highly doubt he is seeing a CBT therapist as CBT focuses on the present. More likely a psychodynamic/ psychotherapist who may look into deeper rooted past.

Raking over the past, Losing one;'s mother in childhood, where does that get anyone?
It's pointless.
Loss of a mother is devastating to any child.
CBT is practical, and far better than the therapy Harry appears to be having , as he is so un self aware, doesn't seem to be taking responsibility for any of his actions , and playing the perpetual 'victim'.
Plenty of others have said ''Tell us who Harry's therapist/s are , so we can avoid them.
I'd agree.

Someone somewhere is being paid a lot for encouraging perpetual victimhood.

No one twists facts as much as James O'Brien. And if he's losing an arguments or someone presents facts that ruin is argument, he either cuts them off or says he's not allowing them to talk about that. Just because he says it rather than writes it makes him no less an arse.

Spot on. He's really not very intelligent.

What's wrong with mentioning Caroline? She was treated terribly by the press before her death.
Her manager has slated him in the press today for bringing Caroline into his book.

Yes and all of her best friends disagree with the publicist.

toomuchlaundry · 09/01/2023 00:29

Will all the other interviews have the same questions? Wonder whether they will have the same answers!

agree
hardley the public
more likely The Sun
it was the gutter press making all these daft remarks, which in retrospect were so very wrong.
crazy times

Sugarfree23 · 09/01/2023 00:31

Gawd only knows why the boys were encouraged to do walkabouts, or read the flowers in public.
Maybe the family thought it would help them to see she was loved.

The walk behind the coffin. Probably a combination of things.
PP walked behind his sister and three kids when he was a young teen. So felt they might regret if they didn't do it.

If the Boys didn't walk, who would?
Charles Spencer alone, he probaby had never experienced that level of publicity.
Prince Charles, her ex husband, was it right for him to be there?
The boys walking meant it made more sense for PC to walk and PP meant there was someone between William and the crowds.

creamcoffee · 09/01/2023 00:31

remember the coverage of the queen's death,
prince/king charles walkabout and crowds cheering him!
cheering him! ?

Honestly I think it's why the queen went to Scotland to die. She knew the family would have to be kept up there due to operation unicorn and Balmoral would be a bolt hold for them.

She probably had visions of the family being demanded and pressured again, so instead she put the very formal and non movable wheels in motion to die there and for her funeral and mourning to be done in such a way as to avoid such a spectacle ever again.

dottypencilcase · 09/01/2023 00:33

In defence of some of Harry's 'lies' and 'crazy' 'unwell' thoughts, Camilla was the wicked witch of the West for a long time and a social pariah forevermore. For some reason, she's suddenly hailed as the bastion of all things DV when the irony is that she was an instrumental part in creating marital discord in the Charles/Diana marriage and caused immense emotional distress to Diana by being the 'third person' in her marriage. She had/has such a strong hold over Charles that he was willing to throw his own children under the bus for her to look better. The press is a powerful machine and peoples memories very short. Cut the guy some slack He's seen behind the scenes and knows how they work. We need to get rid of this ridiculous 'firm' of inept, benefit scroungers dressed up as 'Royals'.

MarshaMelrose · 09/01/2023 00:34

Remember that Diana was expected to pretend in public that their marriage was great!

That's not true. Diana was desperate to keep the marriage going and keep up the front that things were good. She and Charles did an interview and he laughingly said they argued sometimes. She really frowned at him and said, that's not true. We don't argue. And he sort of appealed to her gently, that they did sometimes (as would be expected in a marriage really) but she wasn't having it.
She wasn't forced to keep up a pretence, she wanted the marriage to work and the best way for that to happen, is to portray that everything was fine. And it was for a while.

Why did she need a huge, public funeral? Why wasn't she buried quietly and privately as the private citizen she was?

Sugarfree23 · 09/01/2023 00:34

@MoscowMules you are probably right. She wanted to die at Balmoral. There was possibility relief PP died during covid too.

Quirkyme · 09/01/2023 00:35

@dottypencilcase

I agree about Camilla

Sugarfree23 · 09/01/2023 00:36

Not sure why she had the Ceremonial funeral but she was mother of future king, they couldn't really not have a big funeral could they?

changeme4this · 09/01/2023 00:37

No.

DH received the box set of Sopranos for Christmas. Will stick with that.

Doubt there is much more to see than what we have already read in the newspapers and the like.

We all know inference was being made at the royal family being racists.

There were "concerned talks about how dark the baby would be, and what that would look like"

Which prompted a cat bum face and "what" from OW.

Remember .....

And then a "knowing nod from MM" we all saw it with our own eyes, and Harry didn't say anything, he didn't exactly say "yes that was their unconscious bias showing" 🤦🏻‍♀️

It was totally inferred - the whole bloody world saw it. Along with the link that it also involved titles for the children.

Meghan said she wouldn’t say who said it as it would be “too damaging” to reveal. Harry later said he would never disclose exactly what was said.

The backlash, obviously and rightly, was huge after the interview. The pair of them stayed silent, though picked up an award for exposing racism.

But it now turns out it wasn’t racism but unconscious bias (according to Harry).

He seems to constantly finger point blame elsewhere or rehash what has been in plain sight for people to see (not being best man). I’m done with trying to “understand” his POV any more.

I agree about Camilla

Me three.

Camilla's raise to grace, has been a "interesting one" to say the least.

smileladiesplease · 09/01/2023 00:39

James o Brian is the reason I stopped listening to LBC. Loved Sheila F and the others but he's a rich posh rude and far worse crime a dim twat. Shame as I liked LBC. He thinks he's far more intelligent than he is.

I watched the special Camilla, Country Life that just came on Australia’s ABC

It was boring but who should pop us - Jeremy Clarkson.

I’d say that dude is going to haunt the royals now, but they (Camilla, at least) seem to like to have him around. No RF member denounced Clarkson’s misogynistic, and very twisted, article did they? Yet?

ArcaneWireless · 09/01/2023 00:41

I think he said he will never reveal who made the ‘unconsciously biased’ remarks.

Never say never dude. One day the money might be right…
