I've tried to stick with believing these two yet there are more holes than swiss cheese..

I'm sorry it's the DM, they do have the extract though.....

Nitrous oxide ran out..... seriously? Portland....as in Hospital? Ran out of Gas?

(I mean I know as the story goes he deprived Meghan of it, but presumably they had more.... in the NHS that might not be true). Do we think Meghan really 'laughed' about his selfishness?

IWineAndDontDine · 08/01/2023 13:10

It is, its just a bit of tragic straw clutching to find another reason to bitch about h and m

Except that it's not H&M's critics who have come up with this stupid story, he did that all by himself. And on his own account it was obviously more than "a little go".

YouJustDoYou · 08/01/2023 15:27

He's just....such an absolute stupid, selfish moron. Who even does that, let alone ADMITS they did it to the whole world? He really is very dim.

OMG12 · 08/01/2023 15:35

I’m starting to think that Harry has always had massive issues with behaviour and mental health. He’s probably been protected since childhood, I think the RF have been trying to protect him from the public seeing what he’s like and now he’s out of range of their protection we are seeing how unhinged he is. I wouldn’t be surprised if he has some kind of personality disorder which is revealed at a future date. I mean there’s a history of mental issues within the RF.

SnowlayRoundabout · 08/01/2023 15:37

I feel sorry for nurses and midwives at places like the Portland. They must have to deal an awful lot with dim ex-public schoolboys thinking this sort of thing is original and hilariously comic.

Saltywalruss · 08/01/2023 15:40

How strange But Do people actually call it laughing gas?

durhamduck · 08/01/2023 15:41

They didn't run out, another excerpt I read included the bit where the nurse laughed and replaced it. I know this against my will.

Americans don't really use gas and air do they? Maybe Harry used laughing gas as a term more widely understood?

Lunde · 08/01/2023 15:53

He really comes across as an immature teenage boy rather than an almost 40 year old father of 2.

He spends his wife's labour getting high and scoffing Nandos and when she (you know the one actually giving birth) cannot cope with the pain - he complains about the preparations for an epidural as a "vibe change"

He also seems obsessed with his own dick and petty kids' stuff

I don't know whether he has always been like this - in which case the "Men in Grey Suits" deserve a medal for the structure they provided and the positive spin of him as a "cheeky chappy" "army buddy" all of these years although I guess he has blown it with his Military contacts now that he has put so many at risk. Or perhaps this is a more recent issue for the past few years brought about by poor MH or drug/alcohol abuse

cheshirebloke · 08/01/2023 15:55

I suspect the truth is that he had one little swig, not guzzled loads, and later the cannister happened to run out. And he probably didn't have Nando's, again just saying that because it sounds cooler than the reality that he posh hospital supplied them with nice food. Like most of the other cringeworthy bits of his book, he's just trying to be down with the cool kids.

There seems to be very opposing views on whether the birthing partners try the entonox - some people saying it's very common, others saying it really doesn't happen. The reality is that maybe the odd one or two do, but mostly it's just a 'pub joke' that new fathers tell. I know the thought never even crossed my mind at the birth of any of my 4 kids.

Namrchangedforthis · 08/01/2023 16:10

ExH did this - constantly stealing the gas and air from me.
second child he had got sober so just slept through the whole thing instead.

whynotwhatknot · 08/01/2023 16:22

hes sjust showing himself up to be a right knob now

I'm not surprised he's your ex. What a twerp

bellinisurge · 08/01/2023 16:28

If my partner had behaved like this when I was giving birth he'd be my ex partner

piedbeauty · 08/01/2023 16:34

What a helpful birth partner. Not.

Classy. Not.

BethDuttonsTwin · 08/01/2023 16:40

Can’t believe I am saying this, but I beginning to feel really sorry for Meghan. But maybe that’s the point…?

AcrossthePond55 · 08/01/2023 16:42

That book appears to be written in the way that B and C list 'celebrities' here in the US write their memoirs; all shock, scandal, and bullshit to try to boost their careers through publicity. As PT Barnum said "Any publicity is good publicity", or words to that effect.

Add in Harry's need to justify himself to himself (and the world) by slating his family and airing dirty laundry and you have the perfect storm. What Harry forgot about airing dirty laundry is that your own is also hanging out in plain view for all to see. And right now the focus appears to (rightly) be on his own dirty pants flapping in the breeze.

Where's Meghan in all of this? I think they have a pretty f'd up relationship dynamic to begin with. But IMHO, she's encouraging him, adding to his grievances, justifying his actions to him. Publicity for him is publicity for her, and again, anything that gets her name in the papers works for her. She knows they have a 'brand' to keep in the public eye. And 'brands' take money, lots of money.

I am not saying that she and he may not have some valid grievances. In any family there are problems. But the right way to handle them is not to blow that family apart and then sell the explosion for millions. Nor to exact petty revenge for past problems by revealing things best kept private.

Rightsraptor · 08/01/2023 16:43

Admit to not having read the entire thread. Or the DM piece for that matter. But the hospital would have Entonox pumped into the room. It's possible that Meghan was walking around a lot and so they were using portable cannisters.

If he'd been eating fried chicken around me in labour I'd have thumped him.

Also, the 'nurse' would have been a midwife. Different job.

Littletinytarzanswingingfromanosehair · 08/01/2023 13:49

This thing is, all these things are measured as to how much you have had. Like morphine, I was on a morphine pump after I broke my leg/had metal plates in and they know how many times it was clicked and put into my system. Same with gas and air. God forbid they had to get the baby out quickly how would they know how much of it did Megan have to know what they could also give her as a pain relief?

Like fentanyl, it's a precise dose. Mixed with anything else can be fatal.

You can't compare an IV dose of morphine with entonox. Entonox isn't prescribed as an exact dose, you're encouraged to take as much as you need.

I don't understand your comment about fentanyl. Entonox is not an intravenous drug and as long as it wasn't contraindicated in the first place, won't kill you Confused

itsgettingweird · 08/01/2023 16:57

I didn’t think of him just having a laugh and being an exaggerated anecdote @itsgettingweird , we just don’t know what to think… or at least I don’t. I’m a truthful person so that’s confusing in itself to lie for fun on such a serious topic.

I don't actually think it's a lie as such.

He may have tried a sup.

The nurse may have looked at home accusingly because some men do try it and he may have said "sorry" to jokingly indicate he had tried some or because he thought it funny she may have been indicating he'd had it all.

My point is that the extract as presented to us (translated to English from Spanish) doesn't actually say what happened with the entinox. It says what the exchange between him and the nurse was.

diamondpony80 · 08/01/2023 17:40

I wonder how much of this Meghan has actually read before it came out. She’s always been trying so hard for them to be seen as leaders on the world stage. All these petty and some actually damaging revelations of Harry’s really have made it hard for them to be seen as credible. Right now Harry seems like he’d be better off on some mindless z list reality show.

That's true, whatever they might be now it's not wise, discerning or clever.

MechanicaHound · 08/01/2023 18:27

What a horrid selfish person he has shown himself to be. I would be livid with my husband if he did this and the gas ran out, even for the time it took to change a canister. Gas and air was my lifeline when I gave birth - it was fantastic and saved me having to have an epidural.

He's an absolute fool. With this ridiculous book he has destroyed the remaining remants of any reputation or image he might have had. He will never be taken seriously again. And I don't think she will, either.

quantumbutterfly · 08/01/2023 19:43

@AcrossthePond55 I agree

Newwardrobe · 08/01/2023 20:00

I actually offered the entonox to my partner to try (before the pain really kicked in) , he had one suck and gave it back to me , there'd have been hell to pay if he'd hogged it.
