I've tried to stick with believing these two yet there are more holes than swiss cheese..

I'm sorry it's the DM, they do have the extract though.....

Nitrous oxide ran out..... seriously? Portland....as in Hospital? Ran out of Gas?

I have a friend who took a couple of gulps of his wife's gas supply on the labour ward and then kicked a wall, in order to assess the pain-dulling effect.

He concluded that the gas doesn't do much and the effect is mostly from getting you to concentrate on breathing/placebo. Which corresponds to my experience.

I thought this was goofy and funny. Why H would choose to reveal what he did though - no idea.

It is for pain relief but the effect is that it makes you feel a bit high or drunk so you don't feel the pain in quite the same way (equally too much or not breathing it in properly can have the effect of having a few too many drinks and make you feel very sick) Harry took it to get high basically.

Thank you.

I just can’t fathom why anyone caring about their partner and needing to be there to give their support 100% to their loved one in case anything went wrong would want to get high!

What a sad fellow he is.

Gosh no, not true for me at all. I had an episiotomy and was sewn up on just gas and air. I also have chronic pain so I really feel pain iyswim.

Goosefatroasts · 08/01/2023 11:04

@ThreeLocusts

Doesnt correlate with my experience. My husband said I was getting very sweary/shouty when the canister had ran out and I was sucking on nothing.

Peace was restored when I got back on the gas.

The visa issue is being discussed on the “oh how you’ve been played thread.” I think he will have special, possibly diplomatic status.

Thanks I'll go take a nosey. I just wondered as I know they are very strict on regular folk taking drugs and wondered if him being a prince would make a difference. It does seem from the extracts that he has some form of addiction and to not be just some foolish antics from his youth especially if he's using the gas and air to get high whilst his wife is in labour.

Wow poor Meghan!! She’s always been painted as the evil one but sounds like she unfortunately fell in love with a knobhead who is using her as an excuse to escape his family

Agree. Her at her most vulnerable and him meeting his own need to get off his face. I'm actually really surprised he included it (true or not) because it makes him look like an utter twat.

StClare101 · 08/01/2023 08:44

Why the fuck did he have ANY? I’ve never heard of any husband/birthing partner helping themselves before. What a dick!

This.
His behaviour goes from bad to worse. And he seems to want to tell everyone what a knobhead he is.

ReunitedThorns · 08/01/2023 11:09

Another boast from Harry there. But what he doesn't realise is how selfish he makes himself look.

Don't moan about misogyny Harry, when you boast about older women around the back of a pub (leading to the media questioning every women he's meet), and using all of your wife's birthing gas for your own high.

If Harry wants to know what misogyny looks like take a look in the mirror.

Does the Portland not have a good menu?

Once a junkie always a junkie.

Oh my the Portland. Yes. I watched a programme about some years ago. Amazing kitchen. Afternoon tea brought to mother after birth. Baby taken away and looked after…for as long as you want.

Yeah but he is, isn’t in. Even in interviews he looks impatient and annoyed. I mean did they are helping you be loaded.

I remember the program. I came away thinking 2 things

  1. How amazing the staff caring for the babies were
  2. Why would anyone want to go home. 🤣
SeatonCarew · 08/01/2023 11:19

I've read of some nasty, selfish, abusive, self-obsessed husbands on here over the years.

This is right up there for me.

BringBackCoffeeCreams · 08/01/2023 11:19

This is the sort of behaviour you see in an abusive relationship (bitter experience). It's awful that he did it but even more awful that he can't see how bad it is and is sharing it as his 'look how cool I am' birth story.

Falalalalalalaetc · 08/01/2023 11:21

Maybe Meghan didn't veto the book so that we'd all understand when she leaves.

NightTerrors · 08/01/2023 11:22

I feel like I missed out on the gas and air 😂 I tried one puff, felt like I was going to vomit and then laboured without pain relief for the rest of it. I was so put off by the side effects that I wouldn't even take it for the episiotomy and stitches. But I've heard of a lot of birthing partners having the gas and air or eating a takeaway while the woman is labouring so while it's not exactly ideal behaviour, I don't think it's particularly shocking either.

Beees · 08/01/2023 11:24

Falalalalalalaetc · 08/01/2023 11:21

That's certainly not the most bonkers theory.

I mean honestly he sounds like an abusive, self centred twat and maybe a large part of her wanted others to see what an arse he is.

After the stuff that's come out I can't say I'd blame her for leaving him. That's what everyone would be suggesting if she posted even half of the nonsense we've read about in the past few days on here.

SirMingeALot · 08/01/2023 11:28

3peassuit · 08/01/2023 09:20

It’s very selfish behaviour. His attention should have been entirely on his wife. I can’t believe his daft enough to admit it. Did he think we would find it an amusing anecdote?

I get the impression a few of these anecdotes are supposed to be in the haha what a lad vein. This is one, the frostbitten penis is another. 10 or 15 years ago that could've been sold as a fun loving cheeky chappie story. He doesn't seem to have realised that it's a young man's persona, that it stops working when you're on the cusp of middle age.

purpledalmation · 08/01/2023 11:29

Jesus Christ. Who the fuck sucks on his wife's nitrous oxide? It's crazy. Or maybe I'm just boring.

MrsFionaCharming · 08/01/2023 11:29

We had a takeaway whilst I was in early labour, waiting to go down to the delivery suite. I’d planned out what I wanted well in advance of the day and knew DH knew my order. Unfortunately it’s completely ruined tofu and pineapple fried rice for me as it all came straight back out once the contractions got intense!

I also encouraged DH to try the gas and air whilst I was high off my face. I enjoyed it so much I thought it should share it. He refused because he wanted to be fully with it in order to support me. Like a decent husband should.

It did when I was there. It was just like ordering room service, proper restaurant quality food.

YetMoreNewBeginnings · 08/01/2023 11:31

There’s certainly a few moment where Meghan would have been resoundingly told “LTB” if she’d posted a thread on MN and this is definitely one of them.

No wonder the RF are sitting quietly saying nothing. He’s making himself look like a selfish, obnoxious prick in so many of his “truths”.

I’m still trying to work out where Catherine having a chat with Charles and Camilla and them debating if she should use Katherine to avoid another C fits into Harry’s story…

I never had any time for her (still have very little) but she's saddled with this arsehole for life in one way or another, as the father of her kids.

SirMingeALot · 08/01/2023 11:36

Tamarindtree · 08/01/2023 10:29

I never had gas in either of my labours so I don’t know much about it other than it’s given as pain relief, is that correct?

Why would he take it when it’s meant for the patient and why would he admit to taking it?

Why didn’t Meghan call for help when he started taking it? Did she condone it?

What effect would it have on a person who isn’t in pain?

She might've been a bit distracted at the time!
