The royal family

If you’re not pro RF or Pro Megs/Haz. What do you believe?

If you have mixed opinions of each camp. What do you and what do you not believe?

I’ll go first!

Truth

  • I do think William has a temper
  • I think Harry is extremely unwell
  • I do think William and Kate gave a very cool welcoming to Meg because they were wary of her
  • I do believe Meghan was seeking a platform
  • I do believe she was judged because she is mixed race
  • I do believe she was judged because she was divorced, mid thirties, an actress and American
  • I do believe both Harry and Meg were given preferential treatment ( Xmas at Sandringham when only engaged etc)
  • I do believe the previously work-shy Cambridges upped their game on Meghans arrival because they were intimidated by her
  • I believe the Sussex staff and how they were mistreated
  • I believe Meg and Harry have no self awareness and are hypocrites with their behaviour
  • I believe that Megs connections helped her target a date with the prince and was planned
  • I do believe that the marriage will end in divorce because of Harry’s behaviour
  • I do think stories were leaked but not on the orders of William and Charles but were leaks from disgruntled staff, many stories have turned out to be true.

I don’t believe Diana is communicating with Harry, that the palace were conspiring against them or that Meghan has any real control over Harry

I believe that the monarchy is an outdated institution and that I’m fed up of the taxes I pay being used to fund their indulgent existence.

The cost is, I believe, around £1.35 per person per year before deducting any profits from tourism, etc so I really can't be arsed

greenspaces4peace · 08/01/2023 00:51

They are a large family with a well documented family tree and some interesting backstory. They are wealthy.
that’s it.
the H&M sideshow is embarrassing.

Slimjimtobe · 08/01/2023 00:51

I’d say it was her garden centre job (positive nice story ) - lady Louise

Orangefir · 08/01/2023 00:51

@toomuchlaundry

that she worked at a garden centre over the summer, because she grounded etc etc

I care as much about them as they do about me. I do think some people on this forum are getting exercised to the point of near hysteria about a family they are not part of and know nothing, for a fact about.

Enko · 08/01/2023 00:53

I dont know that William and Kate were frosty toward her when they met more likely reserved.

I actually mind Megan making this an issue as why is "her" way. The better way?
.surely you give and take a bit and accept they will want to see what she is like. Also this whole jeans and barefoot to me screams "I'm so special I don't need to make an effort " I think most of us nade an effort the first time we met in laws/siblings.

Not saying K and W did perfect as I was not there more saying could this not be more of a nothingness where they were them and M was expecting them to be different and now doesn't get why they were?

Also once more here I feel Harry comes across as having no clue as surely he could have briefed both parties so they could met on better footing?

I remember meeting dhs brother and before he said dont mention x and y profession unless you want a 2 hour lecture on how awful they are. I duly didn't as I wasn't interested in that (I have later been caught in one of bils lectures and omg yawn)

SomeonesKnockingAtTheDoorSomeonesRingingTheBell · 08/01/2023 00:55

I think PW is a patronising man who has enjoyed putting Harry in his "place"

I think Kate is sweet but steely and was not prepared to put up with MM's anti feminist rudeness about the baby blues

I think PH has tried to carve a place out for himself and managed to with his charities, but is being used as a pawn - willingly, and getting a handsome amount for it. He will never recover from this, reputtion-wise.

I think MM cares about him a lot now, but if he was Harry Windsor, friend of a friend, would not have given him a 2nd look.

I think H was right to not want his father to marry C after how they both treated his mother. KC is lucky his son's have (in public anyway) accepted her.

SighsTheNewWord · 08/01/2023 00:56

I believe in taking each point as it comes and judging based on individual merit. I've no loyalty towards any of them. Neither party is all bad or all good.

And sorry for that random apostrophe - sending myself to Pedant's Corner

jtaeapa · 08/01/2023 00:57

I believe that Harry desperately and urgently needs help and guidance.

I believe that H&M could have given their kids a lovely life - money, privilege and blending in as well as possible in a part of the US where many of the residents are celebs anyway. They could have spent loads of time with their kids and had a reasonable degree of privacy and close to normal life. I can’t fathom why they’ve stuck themselves on the front of every tabloid - Oprah, books etc.

I think it’s awful that the UK is thought of as racist as a result of all that’s gone on. Yes, we have some racist people and there has been racist journalism. I think whoever did that monkey cartoon for instance belongs in prison. But the majority of us are not racist. It’s been forgotten that their wedding day was happy and joyful all over the UK. Virtually everyone was so happy for Harry to settle down after his difficult childhood. Virtually nobody cared that Meghan was mixed race or American. I thought it was pretty cool. Loved her in Suits. People started to get riled when they lectured us on the environment whilst using private jets frequently. That doesn’t make us racist. A lot of negative press originated from her own half sister. And her father. And ex friends. And ex acquaintances. Again - how does that make is racist? So sad that we’ve essentially gone backwards in tackling racism.

I believe that Oprah probably wants to move house now.

Busybutbored · 08/01/2023 00:59

I think they're all nuts like most families 😜

Sugarfree23 · 08/01/2023 01:02

I agree with most of your list but..

I don't believe Meg was judged because of her colour. More she was judged because the RF quickly got she was after a platform. I think they'd have been stand-offish with anyone coming into the circle, esp divorced American actress.

I don't believe the Cambridges up'd their game because of Meg, more it was a timing thing. William was being asked to do more as HMQ was reducing her workload, Charles was stepping up and he needed to take the load of Charles.

Also Kate was mid baby years, her youngest has only just started school. Neither HMQ, Charles, nor William would have wanted her to spend too much time travelling away from their small children. They know the damage that does.

ImaginaryDragon · 08/01/2023 01:06

I believe the whole sorry situation is like a slow motion car crash and no one will emerge unscathed.

SighsTheNewWord · 08/01/2023 01:10

I believe that Meghan has unleashed a dragon [Harry] who has become unhinged and will keep going until he's reigned in or it ends in divorce.

I believe Meghan wants a carefully curated image but Harry is oblivious and needs things to be spelt out. Meghan is driving the platform to create a brand and Harry is busy asking "when is my turn to also say what daddy and bro Willy did to me - I've been holding it in for too long?"

Backstreetsbackalrightdadada · 08/01/2023 01:12

I think people are prone to infantilising a 40 (?) year old man. He has all the resources and time to get help, and here he is selling out his family and seemingly not interested in reform at all.

I don’t think he’s qualified to do anything much, certainly not talk about MH. I think he’s quite toxic a person, from reading his own words now.

I never kept up to date with royal news much (other than clothes and tiaras), but am not sure why everyone seems so against W and K? I don’t even like the idea of royalty and can completely understand being super guarded… and sadly like they were right to be.

Get off the fence why don't you.🤣🤣🤣

Backstreetsbackalrightdadada · 08/01/2023 01:14

[I also think everyone will forget this happened, he’ll be back at the damn coronation and it won’t impact his reputation.

I think Meghan married down.]

I believe that I have always been tired of nonsense and this is up there.

I just don't understand why anyone wastes any of their time reading all this stuff?

Join me in the land of oblivion. It is a wonderful place. I don't really know who any of these people are and it sounds like I am winning at life now?!

Bouledeneige · 08/01/2023 01:20

I think that William was wise to counsel his brother not to rush into marriage. Because life as a royal is confined and demanding.
I think that MM thought she would instantly charm the British public and win A list celebrity being a Duchess but was shocked to discover how many rules of etiquette applied to their roles and that the hierarchy of succession is fundamental and immutable - she had to stand behind W & K.
I think MM was shocked that her and Harry weren't living in Hollywood grandeur and was jealous of the better set up of W&K - not recognising that they had gradually been given improved living quarters over time.
I think that MM was rude to the staff and that this angered William and Kate who cooled towards her.
I think that MM was rude to Kate before the wedding which served to deepen the rift.
I think William was furious and frustrated with his brother and pushed him.
I think that Harry is both damaged and unintelligent and is co-dependent with MM in a mutually reinforcing victim mentality.
I don't think the marriage will last and I think Harry will become even more isolated and unwell.
I do not believe the RF will ever forgive Harry.
I think Harry may well live to regret his actions.
I think damage has been done to the RF and its legitimacy is now in question.

Kanaloa · 08/01/2023 01:20

I believe they are a group of people who are seriously damaged by their lifestyles. They are unfortunately (every one of them) encouraged to develop huge levels of entitlement and aren’t able to access a normal level of self awareness because of this. Sort of an environmental narcissism I suppose, caused by being so out of touch and almost being tricked into believing that because a lot of quite silly people follow along with this idea that they are special by birth, that it must be true.

Following from that, I think people damaged in this way (a bit like the Kardashians) will always be stunted and abnormal in their communications with each other and the world generally. So anything could be true, or could be lies. I wouldn’t trust any of them as far as I could throw them. Excepting the children, because I could probably throw them quite far.

You don’t know who Prince William is? I wouldn’t say that’s winning at life. I’m a republican but I have awareness of who he is. Being utterly ignorant of something so commonly referenced in the news/pop culture/social and political history is nothing to be proud of.

Orangefir · 08/01/2023 01:24

I believe she was judged for being mixed race. Because being mixed race meant there were more eyes on her. We paid more attention. When you aren’t representative of what a princess has been in the past ( posh, blonde, aristo, virgin etc ) then more attention is given. Which is arguably natural, it’s human nature.

But by having more eyes on her, it means when things go wrong (culture clashes) the more eyes mean more opinions. More divided opinions. It also means when things go right, the more eyes means the favourable comments are amplified. In Meghans case when negative stories surfaced, the more eyes on her meant the negative feedback was amplified to shocking levels.

It’s not that she was judged directly for being mixed race but that her differences to what has been representative in the past set her up to be judged as a measure and she would either soar or fail.

I know who PW is and of course PH. But I don't know anything about who they are married to or what all this is about. Why would I? There's nothing political about it. It has nothing to do with my life or my job or anything I need to do. I am expressing I suppose a kind of incredulity that so many people appear to care so very much about something so utterly irrelevant. But t'were ever thus
