Kate & Meghan relationship - Spare

So it look like the following Kate & Meghan tidbits have been released from Harry’s book.

They include:

  • Meghan forgot to bring lipgloss to an event and asked to borrow Kate’s. Kate reluctantly obliged but pulled a disgusted face when she saw Meghan dabbed the gloss with her finger
  • Kate told Meghan there was a problem with the bridesmaids’ dresses - said they were too big and Charlotte cried when she tried hers on - and was advised by her own fashion house/tailor that the dresses needed completely remaking (this is a week before the wedding). Meghan tried to solve the problem with the palace tailor - but the stress of the bridesmaid issues caused her to break down into tears. Harry also confirms that Kate later apologised and bought her flowers.
  • Harry & Meghan seemed jealous that William & Kate’s house was decorated with priceless art and heirlooms whilst they had to furnish their house with IKEA furniture and buy items on Meghan’s credit card
  • Kate seems to have assumed that Meghan was hinting that she wanted to use Kate’s connections in the fashion industry. This was a miscommunication as Meghan actually already had her own connections.
  • William & Kate felt disgruntled that Harry & Meghan hadn’t sent them an Easter gift.
  • Kate had forgotten something and Meghan told her not to worry about it because of pregnancy hormones. Kate said the two of them weren’t close enough to talk about her hormones - Meghan said this is a comment she would make to her own friends - William points his finger at Meghan and tells her “these things aren’t done here” which Meghan didn’t take well

Most of it seems pretty petty (from both sides) to be honest. Although I think I would pull a face if someone fingered my lipgloss. But yeah, just two women, completely different backgrounds and personalities, having minor disputes and realising they’re not compatible with each other.

The only other thing I thought is perhaps the animosity is more between William & Meghan, and Harry and Kate are siding with their partners?

Given the state of the country with so many people struggling I think there will be little sympathy for him

Tbf he’s cheered quite a lot of us up. The virginity thread alone was a banging start to 2023.

There is absolutely nothing the pair could do that would make their fans see anything in a different light.

But the same applies to the royalists, no? Harry could come up with footage of Wills belting him and the royalists would still side with the royals. Each side is as batshit loyal as the other.

Well no. The H&M fans seem particularly invested

I would like to know how it’s all going down in the US

From the perspective of “just here for the drama”, so do the flag-shagging lot who keep calling Kate “Catherine” as if she’s going to befriend them, and take all the protocol seriously. But it’s like anything on MN: everyone sees the other side as dominating – dog lovers see it as a dog haters’ paradise, for instance, and vice versa. In reality I think both the die-hard H&M defenders and the die-hard W&K lovers are about equally matched for uptight batshittery.

BradfordGirl · 07/01/2023 20:45

@pelargoniums I agree. These are all ultra rich people who would not give a shiny shit about any of the people defending them.

Why blame Meghan? Look at Prince Andrew and the infamous interview which he thought went well. The Royal Family have no idea of life on the outside of their insulated bubble.

I’m saying he’s very weak and she’s manipulative to a man who bad lead a very sheltered life and with all the massive drama around them all hell has been let loose.
They are both winding each other up and the money 💰 talks.
A marriage with all the drama and stress around it is very toxic.
i feel for their children … They keep bleating on and I really think he’s lost the plot ..,

Hes lead a sheltered life and please look up the word scruples as their doesn’t seem to be any coming from Meghan .. Americans may talk the same language but they are different in their ways to the brits ..: Harrys a spoilt little brat and I’m glad William told him straight ..
who on earth do they think they are ?

When people show you who they, are believe them the first time … Maya Angelou quote

i can’t see any reconciliation happening at all
im very sad about the whole situation.
no family is perfect but those two are disgusting

I suspect this was put in deliberately .

Something about H&M arriving at Tyler Perry with suitcases and no where to go. Something about Charles using money access to control H&M. He pulled security and money. H was 12 when Diana died, meaning that the signatures for the fund were with Charles? He was not taking his calls at the time, I wonder if was the one needed to release the money .

In general, I think H was at the mercy of his family for funds in general. I think he was given a small amount for his 'services' . Probably using his army pension (MM told to go and work? because they can't afford her, what was that all about) and his rich friends 'benefits' for his party life.

So yes, as a spare he was relegated to maids quarters and such.

So much for MM being a gold digger if she stayed while buying furniture on her credit card. I live in central London and people around here, get their furniture custom made. H&M were living in a shack by comparison, while the rest of the world went on about how privileged they were. MM lived in much more luxury before by comparison.

They were offered a 21 room apartment in Kensington palace before their marriage then changed their minds afterwards. This is evidence of the renovations. The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester were kicked out (gracefully offered to move) for this privilege. www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/harry-meghan-set-become-neighbours-12499373 They then said they wanted apartments at Windsor. The queen declined, which is why she then offered Frogmore. All agreed prior to their marriage

Please stop believing these exaggerations. It would have been pointless to custom make furniture for Nott Cott when they were only co-habiting there whilst the 2.4m renovations took place at Frogmore. Incidentally Frogmore was split into (I think 4) apartments for staff so the staff all also had to be relocated. I’m sure Harry could have got his hands on money for the IKEA bits and whatever else in the interim.

William and Catherine lived in Nott Cott until after George was born. The red carpet was definitely rolled out for H&M and a lot of people’s lives were upended to try to make them happy whatever statements are being mad to the contrary.

The 'issues' described are so silly and unimportant I think the book proves that although Kate may have been a little wary and cold, and Meghan a bit over familiar and maybe a little demanding they weren't 'duelling dutchess' at all they were two different people muddling along and doing their best to co-exist in a sometimes pretty stressful environment.

XanaduKira · 09/01/2023 00:26

I agree @trucklebrunch

I agree. However Harry seems to want to paint it in a much more dramatic way. He’s the one ramping up the tension with all the ‘he said, she said’. It’s so pathetically childish.
Whats clear to me is that Harry is massively jealous of William and feels slighted and overlooked by everyone but his marvellous perfect wife.
He does his narrative no favours really by revealing that Charles seems to have been a very loving father who tried hard to be everything to his boys. He knew himself he had failed by all accounts, and felt guilty and responsible. William tried desperately to tell Harry that he cared and only wants the best for him at PP’s funeral. So he too was not the unloving brother he’s made out to be. W sounds like he was very frustrated and concerned for H’s wellbeing in general.
It must be frustrating for W that allowances have always been made for H, whilst he himself has to be seen to be behaving immaculately. H was the one who took drugs, drank too much and partied with dubious people. The one who lost his virginity in a field . The one who was allowed to keep his beard. The one who could spill his guts about his mothers death at every opportunity. That must be hard for William. It also must be very hard to hear H insinuate that K was cold and unwelcoming towards M, when there were probably very good reasons why K didn’t like M. The way M treated the staff being one.
