I'm feeling a bit sorry for Harry

I feel like he needs his mum more than ever. To put an arm round him and say "enough son".

He needs guidance, he's never had maternal guidance. Its well documented that Williams life has been really enhanced by Kates parents. Harry has never had that and i feel sorry for him.

It would've been Dior's US-based PR office who sorted out the outfit and the fittings would've been done in LA, not Paris. So you are clearly not knowledgeable at all.

Wrong. The collaboration began while they were living in London. An ex-colleague of mine was personally involved in setting it all up. The wedding dress was for a London based wedding when they were living in London?

I believe that you may know about merchandising for high street fashion but the requirements for the old fashion houses are much stricter.

Namechange828492 · 07/05/2023 11:49

I feel for his kids tbh. He needs to sort his himself out so that they don't have anxiety filled childhoods.

Their collaboration with Dior might've begun in London while they were living here before the wedding and your "friend" might've been instrumental in setting it up, but we're talking about now. His suit fittings would've been done in LA. You think Meghan flies to Paris every time for a try-on every time she wants to wear Dior? That's what they have international PRs and stylists for.

I worked with the big fashion houses for years. I've been to Milan, Paris, London and NY fashion weeks. Knowing a "friend" doesn't make you the expert, dear.

But William never speaks out, we don't know the effect on him or how he coped with her death, we do know more about Harry. Harry is more of a people person so he reaches out more, I think he thrives on connecting with others, probably why he loved the army so much.

I do feel for W too, because I think he's rather stunted and emotionally repressed. He's definitely a result of his upbringing and the weight of his destiny. But at the same time his life is 'sorted', so he doesn't HAVE to do or say anything out of the ordinary anyway. He knows where he will be in 50 years time or so. It doesn't make him relatable in any way.

William doesn’t have to speak out if he doesn’t want to. You’d have to really dense not to realise how devastating it was for him, especially given how close he was to his mother.

you phrase everything about William in negative terms and everything about Harry in a positive way. Perhaps William is shy and reserved and Harry is an attention seeking loudmouth, who always wants to be the centre of attention?

Living the lifestyle of an idle rich playboy doesn’t make Harry relatable in anyway.

They live in a massive mansion in the California sunshine with parents who clearly dote on them and a hands on grandmother. Can't imagine what they'd have to be anxious about right now in childhood.

The thing is I wonder what’s next for harry. Meghan has signed for an agency, she’s attempting to do something , sure where she’s no skill or experience, produce tv. But at least she’s something she wants to do.

harry, has no discernible skills or career path. He’s muttering about a second book. A new chapter on the existing one. He’s sold his name to a couple of companies. Still does invictus to a lesser extent.

but other than spending his days filing law suits and being angry with the world. He doesn’t appear to have anything fullfilling. Any notable career path. He is adrift.

what he was trained his whole life for, to be a working royal, he has turned his back on. He lives in America. Has lost all his old friends, is estranged from most of his family. Has no discernible career path.

for one who grew up with such privilege, and yes hardship too, he’s now one of the wealthiest men on the planet. And probably one of the loneliest.

Sudeko · 07/05/2023 12:00

You are qualifying your post about the terms of their "collaboration". Nobody said that he wouldn't have been fitted in LA.

Many female models are well over six foot have walked for Dior in six inch heels. Even if Harry had the other attributes (which he doesn't), he would be dwarfed by them at six foot one. Neither Harry nor Meghan have that potential.

If he were a seriously cool, A list celebrity (which he isn't) then he would be allowed to appear 'as himself' and walk for some of the less traditional houses.

Dior dress shorter celebrities like Meghan and Harry and sends them outfits but it isn't really going to put them in the league which you are trying to place them in.

I absolutely believe him and Meghan on what they’re saying

I just am not sure they should be saying it

This is my view too. I don’t take much interest in any of them, but I am not sure this constant airing of dirty laundry is helpful for his MH in the long run.

I can't believe that a day after the Coronation it's all about Harry still, even though he kept it low key and was gone pretty fast. Not one thread here on the Coronation or King or Queen. Why is no one talking about them.

I haven't been trying to place them in any league – I didn't see the earlier point about them being unsuitable catwalk fodder. Of course they're not! But Dior dresses them because, like it or not, they do have star power and every photo of them ends up on front pages around the world. That kind of advertising is priceless. I don't think anyone thinks they're trying to break into modelling by wearing couture. 😂

Er, you're on the Royal Family board and it's full of them!

Samcro · 07/05/2023 12:05

i am sure Harry was fine. I imagine a bit pissed of that he is treated worse than Andrew who got to play dress up, really H can never win,

Where's the fun in talking about an actual historical event when you could moan about someone who was visible for all of about 10 minutes yesterday and someone else who wasn't even there?

harry, has no discernible skills or career path.

What do you mean by this? What does notable career path mean? Lots of people spend their lives in different industries or jobs and have skills that are not determined by a degree.
Diana wanted to make a film every other year about important causes according to people that knew her. I think the production company he owns with his wife, is not a bad place to start. Maybe he will devote all his time to charity while his wife works? What is wrong with that? Plenty of women with rich husbands do that. Plenty of women are stay at home mums with or without part time work. He could do that too. I’m not sure why anyone is worried about what he will do with his life. He has money, a family and good connections in the US. He’ll be fine.

I think you might be honing in on Harry threads and somehow missing the many on the Coronation

How have you missed them all?

His mum wrote her own kiss and tell book about being Royal through Andrew Morton so probably not the best to advise him on when to keep quiet!

Well this really, she did her own spill of guts sorry truthshe may have cheered .him on a bit of you tell them son.

So far on this thread, Meghan apparently wants to run for president, and both of them want to be runway models!

Yes SunnyEgg have seen threads on AIBU. Surprised the royalists on here are not applauding the spectacular event. I assumed that anti Harry and Meghan posters are royalists. Might be wrong.

No, she should be appointed US Ambassador to the Court of St James in about 20 years time. Just think of the headlines!

user146539089 · 07/05/2023 12:49

Do you not read the news @Bugeyedowl? It’s fairly well established within US political circles Meghan is seriously wanting to run for President. I thought this was common knowledge.

Bugeyedowl · 07/05/2023 13:03

The news, you mean the tabloids, @user146539089?
