Really?
Another statement probably way off the truth.

H is reported as saying they were amazed when they visited W&C in Kensington Palace and saw the art work, the furniture etc etc.

Whereas HE had to kit out Notts Cott with Ikea stuff that M bought using her CC. (Harrods is just down the road as is John Lewis .)

Has he forgotten the £millions of tax payers' money that was used to tart up Nott Cott?

And that he's now had to pay back as they buggered off the US soon afterwards?

Yet another warped statement, oozing with unfounded jealousy.

Are there literally people being paid by the Royal Family to post this insane drivel 😂I have seen so many weird aggressive posts like this recently being irrationally anti-Harry but the only people I know IRL are either indifferent or think ‘good for him’ or a bit of both. Such nonsense. The Royal Family is outdated and immoral and racist and supportive of a literal paedophile and also responsible for the suffering and possible also death of the poor guys mother. Good for him for fighting back! The first person to properly do so … ever? He seems like a lovely, normal, decent person being demonised by the media for obvious reasons. Please. In his shoes, what would you do?

Erm, I’d maybe STFU (or at least stop mentioning my penis) 🤷🏻‍♀️

Buying furny for Notty Cotty from Ikea?!
Bad man Charles, fancy not informing your son, that DFS was likely having a sale! For shame! For shame!

Is there nothing this man can’t find to complain about? He’ll be moaning his toilet didn’t flush and no one would pay for a plumber next. "

Hasn't he already whinged that he has had to fiddle on with the plumbing in Monteshitshow and that he didn't know how to do it?

In general though, if she used her credit card, it could be just as likely due to her claiming territory/trying to make sure roots were planted before marriage, ( you can just finish with me, i've contributed to the house ) as much as it would be about him being as tight as a ducks!

Lip gloss... I hadn't heard about that before but no, I wouldn't loan anyone lip gloss/stick, or mascara/eye shadow to anyone either, because afaik, Herpes can be passed on by lip gloss/stick and if you don't know someone well, you could be risking catching it from them. Conjunctivitis can also be passed on via make up, again afaik, not worth taking the chance, imo.

thebellagio · 06/01/2023 19:34

But I thought as soon as she arrived her keys and credit cards were taken away from her…..

Most women would use their index finger to dip in a bit of lip balm or gloss in the absence of a mini spatula. An index finger that MAY have been used to pick their nose, scratch their bum or stick in their lug hole.

No, I would not want ANYONE’s finger stuck into any of my cosmetic pots which I would be using on my lip or face afterwards.

So we were told and led to believe, @thebellagio, so we were told and led to believe!

As for them using Westminster Abbey, or indeed St. Pauls for the wedding, apart from the fact she wouldn't be allowed due to being a divorcee, ( another failure on her/their part to understand how things work in the UK ) who on earth else was she going to stuff in there? Surely there couldn't have been many more Hollywood A listers that didn't know her from Adam, that she could have invited? The Muppets maybe, with some sort of musical interlude provided by The Electric Mayhem Band?! ( that would have been worth seeing though lol )

MaggieFS · 06/01/2023 20:16

@EpicChaos If they weren't allowed WAbbey or St Paul's, why were they allowed St George's? Slight digression from the thread but I hadn't thought about her being divorced but getting married in church.

diddl · 06/01/2023 20:23

The lip gloss thing is really weird.

Wouldn't you just do without?

Can imagine being so desperate I would have asked to use someone else's!

mixedrecycling · 06/01/2023 20:32

Ooooh, The Muppets would have been amazing! I might have watched, just to see them fanning self

I'm not wholly sure tbh, I suppose it will have been mentioned at some point but I just can't remember offhand, so at a rough guess, I'd posit that it would/could be because St Georges' is, to the best of my knowledge, a private chapel, rather than a public building. That's only a guess though.
However, don't forget, even Charles and Camilla were not allowed a church wedding.
Other than that, I'd also suggest, that sheer size of Westminster Abbey and/or St. Pauls in comparison to St. Georges' would have been unsuitable for them as a couple - as i said, who else would they have stuffed in there that they didn't know.

Yes, I'd have done without!
Asking for the use of lipstick is a very personal thing, very intrusive, imo, rather like using someone elses very private nickname for your own ends! What next, the knicker drawer?
It's like putting your stamp on someone elses belongings, taking away the intimacy between owner and object. imo, of course.

Muppets would definitely have been worth watching - the rest
of " the spectacle " not so much!

I’d have given her the lipgloss and told her to keep it. It’s really bizarre to ask for a loan in the first place.

If what’s come to light so far is all he’s got I don’t think the RF has much to fear.

Tbh I probably would have told her to keep it too, But, I also would not have asked, the whole thing is just weird.

I think Meg walked into the family expecting her and K to be Sisters from other misters so to speak and expecting to sit cosying by the fire with QE2 sharing a blanket and drinking tea with corgis on her lap.

EdithWeston · 06/01/2023 21:35

St Georges' is, to the best of my knowledge, a private chapel, rather than a public building

It's a Royal Peculiar - ie a chapel under the direct control of the monarch (so is Westminster Abbey, so I'm not sure its status is the clincher)

More that over time there has been a greater tolerance of senior royals marrying divorcees. Princess Margaret could not, without retiring from royal life, Charles could but in a civil service which his mother did not attend (though she did attend the blessing), And Harry could in church

I think the rules changed to allow divorced people to marry for a second time in the CofE, as long as the person being married to was not involved in the divorce.

Think it might also be easier if no children involved?

Maybe like the wedding in Love Actually where the congregation was stuffed with random musicians and no-one seemed to notice?

Whining that your bedroom in the palace is not quite as big a your brother's bedroom in the palace is "properly fighting back?" Or non-events like Kate loaning Meghan her lip gloss but seeming reluctant to do so? And the issue with the baby brain comment - Kate brought Meghan flowers by way of apology. Most people would have drawn a line under it and considered the issue resolved. Not H&M, though, apparently.

I’m now wondering if I have psychologically damaged my youngest child as he only had the box room and my eldest child has the second, larger, bedroom.
i never realised what distress i must be causing to my child.

shocking.

Yes she was (probably) but she’s American!

She likes all that jazz - clean smelling buildings and new IKEA lamps and whatever else new from sofa.com.

I’m sure if someone suggested candles to her afterwards, she’d have agreed it was a good idea. Air freshener is just not very U which is why it made a neat little story at the time.

Slagging off at Americans again. You do know they were very instrumental in saving Britain from nazi Germany in WW2? I’d think I bit more kindly of them.

It's terrible. I hope for your sake there isn't a tell-all book in the works.

Meghan doesn't strike me as the type of woman to forget her lip gloss. I think it was a deliberate attempt to wrong foot Catherine and extract a negative response.

They should be grateful to us, for ruling over them and settling America with all our shared white ancestors.

The idea that we should still be on bended knee for events decades before I was born and before my parents were born is rather bizarre.

Yes, history means we are where we are but it comes in many ways and we've also moved on in many ways.

Indeed since 2016 the historical census is that we were leaving the post-war era and have entered into another. The death of the Queen certainly marks the end of transition of that age in a very poignant way.

It's a new age where respect is due but not this insufferable nonsense from a country struggling with the concept of democracy to the point that they had riots on the 6th January 2020 (two years to the day), led by a bunch of people who sound an awful lot like Nazis, over the transfer of power and are currently having a meltdown over electing a new speaker.

Irony isn't dead.

Oh wait it is. Harry killed it.

He definitely should have had a bigger bedroom to avoid offending the US...

Yeah, they cracked the enigma code and everything. Oh, wait..

Zosime · 07/01/2023 00:26

So that might explain why they were thinking more Frogmore House than Cottage when W&K had Anmer Hall?

Who owns Balmoral & Sandringham?

I read somewhere that the Queen offered them a country house as a wedding present, but they declined.

Balmoral and Sandringham were bought as private homes by members of the RF; they don't belong to the nation. But I think the sovereign has a life interest only; s/he can't dispose of them as s/he wishes.

Why do Archie and Lili need titles if they're going to grow up in the US? Anyway, they already have them, as the children of a duke; Archie can use one of Harry's subsidiary titles - I've forgotten what they are - and Lili is Lady Lili M-W.

JemimaTiggywinkles · 07/01/2023 00:27

You do know they were very instrumental in saving Britain from nazi Germany in WW2?

They joined WW2 for selfish reasons (as did Britain so I’m not particularly judgy about it). And as part of their “saving” Britain (why just Britain, when France was German occupied at the time?!) their army tried to enforce their policy of racial segregation while in this country (watch Black and British on iPlayer if you didn’t know). They also remain literally the only country to use weapons of mass destruction and deliberately targeted civilians (now recognised as a war crime). Don’t hark on about “America was such an amazing hero in the 1940s” crap. It wasn’t.
