Really?
Another statement probably way off the truth.

H is reported as saying they were amazed when they visited W&C in Kensington Palace and saw the art work, the furniture etc etc.

Whereas HE had to kit out Notts Cott with Ikea stuff that M bought using her CC. (Harrods is just down the road as is John Lewis .)

Has he forgotten the £millions of tax payers' money that was used to tart up Nott Cott?

And that he's now had to pay back as they buggered off the US soon afterwards?

Yet another warped statement, oozing with unfounded jealousy.

The book is definitely a script from The Windsors

It certainly seems like it! I think they got Harry's intelligence spot on in The Windsors!

Have you seen a picture of the kitchen? That’s not a decorator designed kitchen, surely? Maybe we’re talking about different cottages here.

If only someone with 30 million in the bank could’ve nipped to ikea to get a kitchen or phoned viscount Linley who I believe knows a think or two about furnishings.

Apparently she complained that St George's chapel smelt old and musty and wanted candles to make it fragrant on her wedding day...I don't know about anyone else but I love the smell of old buildings, it's like smelling history..

I think she wanted air fresheners sprayed round. Not candles. ”atomisers” was the word reported in the mainstream media.

candles would be fine.

“But it’s not a palace!” is such a revealing whine from the couple

Did they actually say that?

Why did he think that Granny would be doling one out to her GC when she hasn't to her kids?

I think there was an expectation (hope?) to go straight into the same size/value/status home that W&C had.

The fact that W&C had lived in NotCot long enough to have George first obvs didn't register.

ganachee · 06/01/2023 15:08

Sorry have not read through the thread so it might have been said, but William and Kate lived in Nottingham Cottage for 2 years during their early years of marriage, so I don’t see why Harry thinks he and Meghan were treated differently re housing. He lived there as a single man, Meghan joined him when first together, but they must have known it wasn’t going to be permanent as proved as they were then given Frogmore.

CPL593H · 06/01/2023 15:11

Discovered today that "that hole" (!!) Nott Cott was many years ago the grace and favour home of Marion Crawford, the Queen's former governess.

Until she wrote a book detailing her time with the then Princesses Elizabeth and Margaret and was utterly cut off by the royals. The Queen Mother tried to stop her, writing

"...seemed to think that you could help him with his articles and get paid from America. This would be quite all right as long as your name did not come into it. Nevertheless, I do feel most strongly that you must resist the allure of American money and persistent editors and say No No No to offers of dollars for articles about something as private and as precious as our family."

Psychogeographically interesting.

jtaeapa · 06/01/2023 15:11

Ikea furniture is brilliant. Practical and functional, quick and easy. And cheap. I have Ikea stuff in every room. As do millions across the world. I love it!

AbsolutePixels · 06/01/2023 15:11

Why did he get Meghan to put it on her credit card when he's absolutely loaded. What a tightwad!

Rickandmortified100 · 06/01/2023 15:11

Are there literally people being paid by the Royal Family to post this insane drivel 😂I have seen so many weird aggressive posts like this recently being irrationally anti-Harry but the only people I know IRL are either indifferent or think ‘good for him’ or a bit of both. Such nonsense. The Royal Family is outdated and immoral and racist and supportive of a literal paedophile and also responsible for the suffering and possible also death of the poor guys mother. Good for him for fighting back! The first person to properly do so … ever? He seems like a lovely, normal, decent person being demonised by the media for obvious reasons. Please. In his shoes, what would you do?

diddl · 06/01/2023 15:15

I think there was an expectation (hope?) to go straight into the same size/value/status home that W&C had.

So that might explain why they were thinking more Frogmore House than Cottage when W&K had Anmer Hall?

Who owns Balmoral & Sandringham?

Have they passed to Charles with the other 3 getting nothing?

Serenster · 06/01/2023 15:16

In his shoes, what would you do?

Well, for starters, not tell the world about my penis, and how I lost my virginity…

howmanybicycles · 06/01/2023 15:17

He's not fighting back properly. Properly would be solid accusations ideally with some evidence. He is mud-slinging and getting caught up in petty dramas and has a need to present his wife as an angel. I would like to see the end of the royal family but making them look like victims of a bitter person who feels maligned because he was not always treated as all important is not going to contribute to that.

LivelyBlake · 06/01/2023 15:19

In his shoes, what would you do?

I'd try and be gracious, loyal to my family and country, I'd try and enjoy a carefree life in California with my wife and children and have a warm relationship with my father.

steff13 · 06/01/2023 15:22

Whining that your bedroom in the palace is not quite as big a your brother's bedroom in the palace is "properly fighting back?" Or non-events like Kate loaning Meghan her lip gloss but seeming reluctant to do so? And the issue with the baby brain comment - Kate brought Meghan flowers by way of apology. Most people would have drawn a line under it and considered the issue resolved. Not H&M, though, apparently.

Sputum · 06/01/2023 15:27

He’s not fighting back at all. He’s whining that his intrinsic privilege wasn’t as great as other member’s of his family.
He could have used his book as an inside-out critique of the family’s privilege. But instead he’s moaning that he didn’t get enough of it.

longwayoff · 06/01/2023 15:30

Kensington antique shops? Have you seen them? They're full of like old stuff that belonged to other people. Yuk. Who knows where it's been?

logicisall · 06/01/2023 16:05

@Rickandmortified100 What's the difference between a paedophile and a "literal paedophile"?

WisteriaLodge · 06/01/2023 16:13

I think she wanted air fresheners sprayed round. Not candles. ”atomisers” was the word reported in the mainstream media.

Either way she was still moaning about the smell of a beautiful historic building

Which paedophile?

Yes she was (probably) but she’s American!

She likes all that jazz - clean smelling buildings and new IKEA lamps and whatever else new from sofa.com.

I’m sure if someone suggested candles to her afterwards, she’d have agreed it was a good idea. Air freshener is just not very U which is why it made a neat little story at the time.

@Sputum they would have lived there when it was newer and not as ratty.

Bloody hell, this is one of the funniest posts I’ve read in relation to the book - and there are plenty to choose from!

Yes, am sure those extra 4 years or so REALLY made a difference in a property that’s well over 300 years old 😂

I am by no means posh, but the lack of appreciation for historic buildings shown in a number of posts is mind-boggling.

Spoken by someone who will scrape the barrel to find ANYTHING to defend H&M over.
