Really?
Another statement probably way off the truth.

H is reported as saying they were amazed when they visited W&C in Kensington Palace and saw the art work, the furniture etc etc.

Whereas HE had to kit out Notts Cott with Ikea stuff that M bought using her CC. (Harrods is just down the road as is John Lewis .)

Has he forgotten the £millions of tax payers' money that was used to tart up Nott Cott?

And that he's now had to pay back as they buggered off the US soon afterwards?

Yet another warped statement, oozing with unfounded jealousy.

@Intrepidescape
It was hardly a new build!
The photos don’t make it look ratty at all! Looks pretty decent and cosy tbh.
W&K lived there until after George was born and moved out in 2013, when Harry moved in.
Presumably he couldn’t afford to buy his own kettle in that time, and had to wait until Meghan moved in, a few years later, to buy one with her credit card?
H&M moved to Frogmore before Archie was born.
Hardly hovel to slum.

Again, anyone can go and see the artwork in Kensington Palace.

The word “unit” used to describe a cottage designed by Christopher Wren himself is quite an erm… “unusual” turn of phrase.

Some Americans have a reputation for not understanding history- Markle clearly doesn’t.

A lovely American said “ In England, a Hundred years is nothing, and 100 miles is considered a long way-
In the States, the opposite is true”.

So how are they feeling this morning?
I'm assuming you know them personally as you have written with such authority about how Meghan feels about her husband and the state of of their relationship?
Or maybe you have just made up.a load of nonsense about somebody you know nothing about ...

Or perhaps just a good judge of character who's lived life and has lots of wisdom? Can see it coming a mile off Harry has absolutely no chance of reconsilation with his family after all this balloney but I guess that suits M and when they do split up he's going to regret almost all of this it's a car crash waiting to happen.

That's probably why artwork in the Royal collections is frequently rotated in museum exhibitions. With free entry.

bahmummbugg · 06/01/2023 12:01

There's nothing wrong with IKEA, half my house is from there 😂

The cottage is also not small, especially for a two bedroom house, the article linked before says 1300 sq ft.

www.insider.com/meghan-and-harry-netflix-home-tour-kensington-palace-nottingham-cottage-2022-12?amp

Many two bedroom houses are half that size. I wonder if it's because she is American and they have much larger houses as they have the land for it. I don't think Harry prepared her for life here at all, explaining the royal protocols etc. Generally the whole H&M thing goes over my head, even I'm getting fed up with it. Who on earth is advising them? It's very ill thought out.

I know it's become a ridiculous farce, hasnt it,
It's like they well Harry and their likes Boris BJ )etc live in alternative parnell universe to normal folks lives,
It's starting to make them look irevalent, what is the point of them in first place then?

I bet royal family have Regrets now that they didn't go along with their idea of one foot in so called royal working life, and one foot out doing their own thing idea,
I think royal family will have to reconsider their previous attitude ,it be like emotional blackmail to shut up/not reveal any more salacious juicy revelations out in the public domain,

He is definitely his mother son, takes after her, princess Diana, when he does something it definitely makes impression,
Or
Is it Megs influence pushing the Agenda somewhat, etc.
Only time will tell,

Thankfully his recently departed Gran has been spared the Whinny Harry and Megs 🎪 circus

No the RF won’t allow half in,half out. H and M will certainly come across as money grabbers if they do. We are too far down the line to go back. Both have shown how spoilt and petulant they are with repeat whinging that they are hard done to, all because they didn’t get their own way. The Netflix issue was in the papers for two days and no more. This won’t last much longer

the RF have continued to offer olive branches that have been kicked back.

now they need to be left to it

RoseHarper · 06/01/2023 12:08

Hes gone too far and shown that he cannot be trusted at all if he is willing to share such private and personal events and conversations to make money. I don't think they have thought through the implications long term...this is their only "story" so once they have spilled the beans what then?? Also, will any of their new Hollywood friends welcome them into the fold and trust them? Surely trust is a huge issue when you move in those circles, would you trust them now?

The royal collections trust has also done a lot of work digitising the collections and making them available online.

JemimaTiggywinkles · 06/01/2023 11:14

If true, why not? Andrew and Sarah married in the Abbey, didn’t they?

It isn't true. At the time, it was claimed by the Palace that H&M wanted a smaller wedding. In one recent interview (Oprah, or maybe the Netflix series) they said they didn't even want the size of wedding they did have, that they'd have preferred a smaller one.

They wanted both a smaller wedding private wedding and a bigger wedding than W&K.

As my DM used to say liars need good memories.

User1435 · 06/01/2023 12:13

This really has an air of The Tinder Swindler! According to that, MM should have run a mile when her multimillionaire prince husband insisted she should buy their ikea furniture on her credit card !

MsMiaWallace · 06/01/2023 12:13

So much for wanting privacy.

With dignity the RF are keeping quiet but really should say what a prick H is.

BrieAndChilli · 06/01/2023 12:16

Thge extremely wealthy and classy (the sorts of circles H&M are trying to get stay in now that they are not part of the Roiyal family) eg the Obamas etc will not want anythinig to do with them. no-one wants to share a friendship with people who will sell your secrets to the highest bidder. The best they can hope for now is to be lumped in with the kardashians and the others like them who sell the minute details of thier lives and create drama in order to generate more money.

If they had gone off to America, kept thier whinging to themselves they would probably have been welcomed with open arms and could be earning millions in a dignified way - would have taken longer to become established but would have been longterm. they have gone for the quick scandalous buck and will find in 5 years they need to invent more drama to stay relevent.

tattychicken · 06/01/2023 12:17

Those Insider photos show the carpet - not ratty. The kitchen is dated but in good condition. I think Harry is sitting on the IKEA sofa!! Poss Ektorp? And that hanging mirror and some of the prints on the wall are poss IKEA too.
It's a small, beautiful, cosy period cottage in the middle of London. Perfect for a couple starting out. I don't see why Harry didn't explain the history of it to Meghan, and that it would not be a long term situation. Also, they moved really quite fast from dating to engagement to wedding. I imagine the Royal wheels were used to moving quite slowly in this regard eg W and C were in Anglesey before Nott Cott, things evolved more slowly.
I realise why, age etc, but I think that instead of understanding and accepting things take time, H and M took that as an insult and because he was a Spare. A rather petulant and teenagery attitude IMO.

portocristo · 06/01/2023 12:21

Good grief, it's a good job he is the spare and not the heir, what a mess he would be in then , glass half full Harry.

WeWereInParis · 06/01/2023 12:23

50shadesofneigh · 06/01/2023 10:37

Sky News: Harry complaints about ''how disrespectful it was for one of the Queen's private secretaries to park next to his window and block out his bedroom light''

Bloody hell, who got to proofread this out of his friends and allies and wife? Because they did not have his interest at heart.

Aside from being a ridiculous complaint, this book sounds incredibly tedious.

"Someone parked outside my window"
"We bought ikea furniture"
"Meghan asked to borrow Kate's lipgloss and although she seemed reluctant, she agreed"

They're hardly thrilling anecdotes.

Grrrrrrr23 · 06/01/2023 12:25

Jeez. READ THE ROOM. Spectacularly bad timing and fgs, just STOP TALKING!

WeWereInParis · 06/01/2023 12:26

Slight detail but mention of wedding reminded me . Apparently they wanted to marry in Westminster Abbey but were told no

Is that in the book? I thought they'd said previously they didn't want the spectacle and that was just for the world??

xogossipgirlxo · 06/01/2023 12:26

They wanted to be normal, it's what normal people to. Go to Ikea and pay with CC, because they can't afford spending few grand from savings account.

Totes agree, have not read any acknowledgment so far from him about the benefits of being the Spare, or a recognition of the restrictions and responsibilities put upon William and his family because of being the heir.

StatisticallyChallenged · 06/01/2023 12:27

Intrepidescape · 06/01/2023 11:35

@Sputum they would have lived there when it was newer and not as ratty.

It's a several hundred year old property - that William and Kate lived in it 10 years before is a mere drop in the historical ocean. Harry himself had lived there for years, so if it was tatty that was on him. He could have bought himself nicer furnishings

When w&k married they split their time between Anglesey and nottcott. They had a large Kensington Palace apartment renovated for them which they moved in to not long after George was born. The queen gave them Anmer as a wedding gift - it's part of the Sandringham estate I don't think they own it.

When H&M married they split their time between the cotswolds and NC. A large apartment at kP was being renovated for them. Various newspaper articles suggested that frogmore was their wedding gift, albeit part of the windsor estate.

They were actually treated very consistently in the early days - they chose not to occupy the KP apartment because they didn't want to live near W&K.

Have you any idea how old Nottingham Cottage is?

Or that Harry moved in shortly after William Kate & George moved out? So it was good enough for the heir to the throne? And his heir? But clearly not good enough for Harry.

Some of their supporters really need to move your blinkers slightly lower.

@x2boys all I can say is that for me no matter how old or how expected the death of a parent is gut wrenching & it comes from deep within. I had no control over how I felt on the actual day or lead up. I didn’t want to deal with any questions or stress. I can’t explain it, it was like it wasn’t me. And I think I was quite calm compared to some relatives & friends who’ve been bereaved.

watcherintherye · 06/01/2023 12:37

Meghan - no sense of history, or understanding of the UK and the complexities of the Royal Family, protocol, etc. Huge sense of entitlement.

Harry - fear of abandonment, inferiority complex and focus on Meghan as his ‘saviour’.

Never going to be a good mix.
