Really?
Another statement probably way off the truth.

H is reported as saying they were amazed when they visited W&C in Kensington Palace and saw the art work, the furniture etc etc.

Whereas HE had to kit out Notts Cott with Ikea stuff that M bought using her CC. (Harrods is just down the road as is John Lewis .)

Has he forgotten the £millions of tax payers' money that was used to tart up Nott Cott?

And that he's now had to pay back as they buggered off the US soon afterwards?

Yet another warped statement, oozing with unfounded jealousy.

Although as pp have pointed out, I'm not sure Harry would know what a bookcase was for.
I don't think he's even read his own book.

😂😂😂

Kisskiss · 06/01/2023 12:38

He seems pretty self absorbed- me me me . Sure, it’s not nice to feel like your sibling is somehow being treated better, however remember that your audience is struggling with more problems and your issues are relatively petty..
I mean we all have a moan now and again about our problems but going on record / telly/ writing a book and telling the entire world about something so trivial is on a whole new level of being totally unaware of others

At least we know now why "The Bench" was a children's book.

For Archie, my arse!

Tamarindtree · 06/01/2023 12:41

There are many people who can’t afford Ikea and don’t have a daddy that pays for everything.

OldFan · 06/01/2023 12:42

I don't believe that at all. Maybe they brought one Ikea item (maybe the weird food/drink) or something.

Meghan would never buy Ikea anyway.

Tlolljs · 06/01/2023 12:45

I wonder if they had meatballs.
That’s the best part of an IKEA visit.

Lostinasupermarket · 06/01/2023 12:50

The cottage was redecorated for William and Kate by Kelly Hoppen so I cannot imagine it was 'ratty' (You know, on top of being designed by Sir Christopher Wren).

LillianGish · 06/01/2023 12:58

Apparently she complained that St George's chapel smelt old and musty and wanted candles to make it fragrant on her wedding day...I don't know about anyone else but I love the smell of old buildings, it's like smelling history..
Cire Trudon already make candles that smell exactly like this! Their Carmelite candle is described thus: The scent of ancient stone-walls, in the shade of cloisters and convents, this fragrance of fresh and mossy stone narrates the black and white silhouettes of nuns walking through the silence of a ritual mass. Under the light of church candles and psalmody, Carmélite calls on the peace of souls and the midst of times. I have one and I can confirm it smells lovely.

ClassicEffUp · 06/01/2023 13:00

That actually sounds amazing @LillianGish !

If my house was older and would suit that smell, I'd be burning them all over Grin

He does sound like his father's son, complaining about becoming "the sort of person who has to buy their own furniture". Hopefully the fountain pens at IKEA don't leak ink.

Walnutwhipsarenothesame · 06/01/2023 07:56

Is there nothing this man can’t find to complain about? He’ll be moaning his toilet didn’t flush and no one would pay for a plumber next. He needs to go and live in a third world country and volunteer for a year. He is so entitled it’s beyond belief.

he could simply go and spend some time in one of the many deprived inner cities of this country and see how people are going without food so they can feed their kids, people who simply cannot afford to put the heating on, people who are working but still having to use food banks.

Of course he is. You can’t eradicate 35 years of extreme privilege and opportunity (not to mention his inherent privilege as a white straight able bodied man) just because of a family argument and a few training sessions on ‘unconscious bias’ (which he still cannot use correctly). He hasn’t had a period of poverty in his life, he went straight from Nott Cott to Taylor thingy’s mansion.

There's nothing wrong with IKEA, half my house is from there 😂

The cottage is also not small, especially for a two bedroom house, the article linked before says 1300 sq ft.

www.insider.com/meghan-and-harry-netflix-home-tour-kensington-palace-nottingham-cottage-2022-12?amp

Many two bedroom houses are half that size. I wonder if it's because she is American and they have much larger houses as they have the land for it. I don't think Harry prepared her for life here at all, explaining the royal protocols etc. Generally the whole H&M thing goes over my head, even I'm getting fed up with it. Who on earth is advising them? It's very ill thought out.

I should think it's because she's come from a country where the wealthy, famous and powerful live in huge mansions in a walled private piece of land, 4 cars, 10 bedrooms, a swimming pool, cinema room etc etc and royal families "live in palaces"

And so to be married to a wealthy, famous and powerful prince and live in a "small" old cottage in a larger complex of housing might seem a little like a snub..... If only Meghan knew someone from that kind of life who could have told her how things work and what she should expect....

Been reading a lot of H&M threads and so many posts say ''He should have prepared her for x, y and z''. Meant in support of Meghan.

But - come on - the woman isn't an idiot!

A mid 30s TV actress with an online blog on food and travel to lifestyle and beauty. How in god's name can anyone really believe that at no time she ever sat and googled
''How to curtsy''
''Must i curtsy?!''
''What to call the queen when you meet her''
or
''where do the senior members of the family live, how long have they been there and why?''.

You'd have to be completely thick to not think to do at least that minimal research.

I don't believe she's thick AT ALL.

Therefore i believe 99% of all this wide eyed innocent/ignorance about what to do and the house they were given ect. is total utter bollocks all told for effect.

And if she couldn't find the info she needed online, then Harry was remiss in not telling her what she needed to know. The press treated them badly on multiple occasions and I have no doubt that the RF are dysfunctional in many ways and their press office are manipulative. Nevertheless, there are parts of their stories which make them both look really bad. They are not always the victims. They are indeed rounded human beings (good and bad) like everyone else. Their lives would be much easier if they could accept that.

Meghan is definitely the brains in that marriage.

This reminds me of this... In Moscow there is a very grand palace that was built by a merchant whose family were making a huge amount of money illegally. The palace is absolutely gorgeous complete with priceless artwork. When the merchant showed the grand palace to his mother, she famously said: "Before only I knew you were an idiot, now all of Moscow knows." That's probably how Charles and William feel about Harry 😂

She literally did a perfect little curtsy in Suits. She's full of shit.

and royal families "live in palaces"

Well quick google could have put her right on that!

Harry’s book would have been better entitled ‘Bitter’

OwwwMuuuum · 06/01/2023 13:44

I don’t understand his confusion. He is the SPARE so he has less status (and art) than the actual heirs (Charles, then William) as a reflection of this.

Meghan clearly knew/knows next to nothing in advance about royal matters. She literally came into this not having a clue of the cultural significance of the royal family and I don’t think it seems like she’s educated herself at all since. So in that sense, I can understand why she doesn’t get it.
