@Quirkyme It was because in the original post it said (probably autocorrect) a white familiar and the poster meant a white family.

I don't think the "should be" meant what you thought it meant.
I think the way you misread it would be racist, the way it was used wasn't.

You need to go back and look at the post above the one you are quoting.

Quirkyme you are being completely ridiculous. The poster's previous post contained a misspelling. The post you keep referring to as 'rascist' is a correction of the misspelling. Stop digging - the hole's big enough.

Well I thought I would ask! It’s amazing how people jump on one isolated word but don’t read anything else. Anyway, I think my comments are still there!

I think Quirkyme didn't realise it was a correction and now is finding it hard to admit the mistake. She shouldn't be, we all misread things at times, people do it lots of times on here and just admit it, apologise and everyone moves on.

Love to know what was running through @Quirkyme s head when deciding that sentence was racist

No idea. I’m finding the ease with which some posters are ready to accuse others of racism really troubling recently. It’s an incredibly serious charge.

Here you are @blubberyboo This is just a small sample of all the stories the Palace denied in the 18 months Meghan was a royal.

It also doesn’t cover the really big stories the Palace sat on - the brothers’ falling out, the bullying and the staff issues and the lead up to Megxit. Their team even formally denied they were intending to move the Canada the day before the Sussexes announced it on their own website.

From eight days after the story broke that Meghan was Harry’s girlfriend to the day before they announced they were off their team was working hard to try and keep stories the couple didn’t like out of the press.

(The thing is, there is nothing they can do to counter the fact that Meghan was hugely popular and so being shoehorned into as many stories as possible to drive clicks (the avocado one for example. All that was said about Meghan was that she liked avocados. Her hairdresser had already posted publicly on Instagram about avocados being her favourite snack. There’s nothing anyone can actually do about that…).

Obviously M preferred the possibilities of mixing with Hollywood stars to Botswanan orphans.

thanks i knew I’d seen various headlines like that. When you see it all collated it is hard to believe the narrative that the palace stayed silent as the couple claim. They could not reasonably have come out every single day or it would end up looking like the palace was in direct conflict with the press and then by default the people. They couldn’t win.

The Palace know from long experience that to constantly engage with stories in the press is counter-productive. Harry either doesn't know or care about this.
Look where taking on the media in such an adversarial and aggressive manner has got Harry now.

Writing a book isn’t really taking on the media. It’s putting his view out there and bypassing the media. I think, linking my comments to the title of the thread, is that Charles didn’t trust Meghan and Catherine wasn’t going. Therefore as a non working member of the family, and remote by choice, she was excluded. Fair enough really. Except of course Harry wanted her there. So they are aggrieved.

I wasn't talking about the book. I meant right off the bat when he first started seeing Meghan and issues arsey emails to media outlets about press intrusion.

Yes his view is ‘silence is betrayal’ whereas the Royals think silence means the news cycle moves on.

It‘s the same with H&M’s approach to suing - take newspapers over and over again to court for whatever and people assume the next time there’s an unfavourable story but no lawsuit that the story is true

I agree that the palace did defend m and h quite a lot but I think on some occasions probably m and h demanded an intervention but the story was actually true or at least partly true. The palace can’t correct true stories regularly or all trustbetween palace and media disappears.

Not really bypassing the media though - they are making hay out of it. All the better for translating it from Spanish as it makes it even easier to have fun and add their own spin when they genuinely don’t have the original wording. And as they are ahead of publication he doesn’t have his own spin out there (which also relies on media).

Don’t assume translators are idiots. They are not. Why would they misrepresent what’s in the book? What’s in it for them?

It might be a feeding frenzy for the media but Harry has controlled what they have been fed. It is his book. They haven’t chased him for it. They haven’t been given palace tit bits. They haven’t listened in to conversations or made it up. It’s his narrative.

I probably expressed that badly before. I think he’s been poorly advised but he had to offer up something spectacular or he wasn’t worth the money they paid.
