Meghan WAS banned from Balmoral after Queen’s death

In his book, Harry also claims that his father told him that Meghan should not come to Balmoral. The Queen was staying at her Scottish estate when she died last September.

The prince wrote: "Then my father called again. He told me I was welcome at Balmoral, but… without her. He started to explain his reasons, but they didn't make any sense at all, and it was disrespectful as well. I did not tolerate it from him.

"Don't even think about talking about my wife like that.

"Repentant, he said, stammering, that he simply didn't want the place to be full of people. Nobody's wife was going to go, not even Kate, he told me, so Meg shouldn't either."

Haven't read twt but I read a while ago that there had to be rewrites of the book as the original script was quite boring.

Exactly! If the Queen, William and the RF had simply put their foot down re the media and came out and defended Meghan as they had Kate, none if this would have happened. Call Harry crass all you want (and yes, his recent book is crass and has gone too far imo, even in my eyes as a Meghan supporter), BUT, the RF, Queen, William and Charles brought this all on themselves. I bet they regret not defending Meghan and pulling the media into line now. Meghan and Harry were forced to do the Oprah interview to put their side because the RF sure as shit wasn't doing anything. The RF/Queen made their choices, and Meghan and had to make their choice afterwards. This mess, really, is entirely the Queen/RF's entire fault. So I don't feel sympathy for Charles or William. They made their beds when they chose inaction. Now they've been publicly embarrassed in a book, and it's their fault and they deserve it all. If they had defended Meghan, NONE of this would even be happening right now.

My DH was overcome with emotion after delivering his eulogy after his young niece died. I didn't hug him when he returned to his seat and I'm sure some of the congregation behind us must have thought I was a callous cow. But I KNEW, what with him being my husband and all that, he didn't want that and he would have shrugged off anyone who tried. He retreats inside himself at such times.

So, re: Harry/Charles and the alleged non-existent hug, there may well be another side to this or a re-writing of history through Harry's new "lens."

Equally true may have been that in the moment Charles was overwhelmed by his own emotions. A shame but it happens. My MIL told my DH that my FIL had died by text. Also a shame even though he was an adult not a child - but likely she didn’t mean to upset him.

Equally if could have been that Charles waited to see where Harry would want a hug or not and misjudged.

Its the whole picture he paints. Not one single snippet. It’s the cumulative effect. He had to expose more then was good for him or the RF. He had a ghost writer who is actually not in the shadows. That alone would ring alarm bells. You are going to get some fireworks for big bucks. He and M want the bucks.

Interestingly the Telegraph thinks Harry was happiest in Botswana with a white familiar of filmmakers. Maybe he wanted to be there to escape? He’s now chosen the USA but you don’t have to be so outspoken or damming of others in your family.

Pretty sure Harry would have loved that based on what he has said in the past however there was no way Meghan would have contemplated a life there . She wanted the A list life in the US .

Why is it racist to describe a family as white when they are? They live in an African country but they are white! Are you really saying the description of this family is inaccurate? That’s just mad. They are film makers and friends of Harry. Had they been black - so what? The point was he was happy with them. I’ve often wondered if making films in Africa would have suited him better as he clearly likes being there.

Mods: accurate description of Tania Jenkins and Mike Holding is that they are white. Harry describes them as his second family. It’s not racist to say this.
