Prince Harry reveals that he killed 25 people in Afghanistan. He did not think of the 25 as ‘people’ but as ‘chess pieces’

Of all the idiotic and stupid things to say this has to be his worst yet. I have some close members of my family in the forces and none of them ever discusses whom they may have killed in conflict, no matter the circumstances.

This is a massive no no. I honestly believe he has crossed the line on so many levels now. Next time he cries about his security he needs to have a long hard think after this.

I'm in awe at his stupidity now 😳

It’s extraordinary purely from a worry about security POV. It makes no sense. Bonkers

Littlepuddytat · 05/01/2023 18:34

He was in the armed forces. Of course there's a chance he killed people. Bit unpalatable, isn't it? Except that's what they're paid to do.

Every soldiers memoir I've ever read talks about this stuff and how they have to dehumanise those they are sent to kill.

Littlepuddytat · 05/01/2023 18:36

But these people were terrorists and murderers. He was sent there to kill them. I'm not exactly upset they were killed

Plenty of civilians get killed too.

Yes but common sense like this goes out the window when it's related to Harry or meghan

Goosefatroasts · 05/01/2023 18:40

So what’s his end game? Forcing us to pay for his security again?

I’m not sure he’s got an end game. He just seems to stumble from one catastrophic publicity stunt to the next.

Probably. It wouldn't occur to the idiot that he's made the lives of his family even more threatened; or that someone might decide to take revenge on the British public for what PH did. Although that should probably come with the caveat 'allegedly.'

I was concerned he would mention his time in Afghanistan as a security risk
Even I didn’t this he would be stupid enough to claim he killed 25 people
If I was Meghan I would be absolutely livid
He has banged on about keeping his family safe and now done this

I have no words

Exactly this it's sheer madness.

Ruffpuff · 05/01/2023 18:47

I don’t really have any complaints about what he said, other than I think his motive is to use it to gain sympathy and admiration (that an I don’t trust it’s the truth). My issues is more with the stupidity of releasing this to the press and growing the target on his and his family’s heads.

BinBandit · 05/01/2023 18:51

It's not about what he did as such - I know he is thick but he must have understood that joining the military and participating in active service was likely to mean that he'd possibly be killing people. However it's the stupidity of putting it in his book and putting people other than himself in danger.

StressedToTheMaxxx · 05/01/2023 18:53

Why would it make him an even bigger target for stating that he killed taliban members? He was publicly know to have went out and been on active duty in Afghanistan. It surely was already known that he'll have killed the taliban. Why does him confirming it make him more of a target?

SirMingeALot · 05/01/2023 19:00

Because it's him saying actually, all the stuff about me sitting on my arse in a tent playing computer games not killing anyone is bollocks.

SomeonesKnockingAtTheDoorSomeonesRingingTheBell · 05/01/2023 19:04

I wonder if Meghan read his book before it being printed?

She is an intelligent woman (imo, maybe others dont agree) SURELY she can see what result his admission will have ??

Meltinthemiddle · 05/01/2023 19:06

He's totally lost the plot and contradicts himself with everything he says and does. yes people know eh has served in the army and likely he has killed people but don't draw attention to yourself and put it out there making you and your family a target.

reddingweddy · 05/01/2023 19:13

I'm quite surprised actually, I didn't know he could count.

aModernClassic · 05/01/2023 19:19

I wonder if it's deliberate, and that's he plans to use this 'accidental slip' to justify needing the British taxpayer to pay for his security?

MistletoeandBaileys · 05/01/2023 19:21

I’ve wondered why he hasn’t come out against Andrew. Like Meghan is a feminist (or at least likes to identify as one) and was really outspoken on MeToo. So why haven’t they spoken about Andrew?

The last few years he has come across as egotistical and arrogant as his uncle. I mean it’s all alleged still but surely if they wanted to really hammer home their humanitarian shtick they would have made a statement at the very least.

Instead they are targeting William, Kate, Charles and Camilla who honestly at this stage I haven’t seen anything horrendous emerge there.

He has just put a massive target on his back. Everyone knows where he lives. He’s being really badly advised at this point

Maybe Andrew's got something on him.

Xenia · 05/01/2023 19:25

It was foolish to mention it given his position. I doubt anyone advised him it was wise.

Siepie · 05/01/2023 19:28

Posters who think that saying this puts his family in danger, do you think the Taliban weren't already aware that he had killed people in Afghanistan? The Taliban and terrorists are aware that soldiers weren't just sent to the Middle East to sit around posing with guns. He's already a target.

I don't see any reason to assume that the Taliban were already convinced he'd killed a couple of dozen people, no. Whether the grandson of the sovereign genuinely did see serious combat is obviously a different question to whether the British Army as a whole did. He is already a target, but that doesn't mean he can't become a bigger one.

megletthesecond · 05/01/2023 19:34

He claims he left the UK to keep safe now he has made this monumentally risky admission. He's an even bigger target now, in a country riddled with guns.

The UK Royal Protection teams must be watching in horror.

maeveiscurious · 05/01/2023 19:39

He is definitely a bit dim, if any younger naive. At his age dim to Allie this to be written m, the aftermath of this will not be good

And he's just bumped himself way up the list now he has actually confirmed that he killed Taliban; and not just one or two.
