Meghan 'offended' for telling Kate she had 'baby brain'

Well, the Daily Fail have got their hands on a Spanish copy of the ''memoir'', so there is going to be shrapnel flying about from now until kingdom come.

One of these ''revelations'' is that Meghan made a joke about Kate having ''baby brain hormones'' a month after having Louis, which upset Kate, which in turn then upset Meghan.

Can you imagine the Oprah-style feeding frenzy had this been reversed - Kate telling Meghan that she had baby brain and hormones, which would have perfectly tapped into the villainous ice queen depiction that H&M are flogging right now?

Harry is soap operatising the royal family in the most sensational and tabloid dripfeed way possible (calling his brother his 'archnemesis'.

He is shockingly narcissistic, if he thinks this is not also going to also blow up on him and Meghan. The hypocrisy and whole thing is a shit show.

I know plenty of people irl who've said something similar when they were pregnant or after they had children. You can find it on this site where people have started threads or someone has put it in a comment that maybe its your hormones affecting your mood that caused you to do x.

I really cannot get bothered over what she said when I've seen it said or words similar to that said irl or on here. Especially since its been said that hormones do effect your brain etc.

Bloody hell, feels like we have to walk on eggshells on everything that is said now a days that might upset someone. Sometimes its just a joke or light hearted quip. Fml if I was surrounded by people who couldn't say little things without it being seen will malice I would want to get off the world.

Sorry, but a rank newcomer who is a bare acquaintance doesn't say things like that to the future queen of England, if they have evenna modicum of awareness.

Meghan is coming across as extremely low-class.

Ohnonevermind · 05/01/2023 16:42

Surely a sympathetic biographer would have drawn an editing line through the words ‘dog bowl’, surely all it achieves it mockery of the subject.

bakalava · 05/01/2023 16:43

That's cos-
According to one poster, HMQ was a lifelong alcoholic so if she had witnessed the scuffle she could have done her best : "Get out of my pub!"

Haydugee · 05/01/2023 16:44

Imagine making the effort to go to a bridesmaid fitting whilst about to pop or with a tiny newborn in tow. Feeling fat uncomfortable and tired but making the effort to turn up, and having your new sister in law making a disparaging sexist comment like that.

I’d cry too.

FromEden · 05/01/2023 16:50

I doubt the queen would have lived to such a ripe age, and in relatively good health until the end, if she was a 'lifelong alcoholic'. I mean, she liked a tipple but who wouldn't in her position.

The stories in this book are ridiculous - I've yet to read anything that doesn't put Harry in a bad light. Are we sure it's genuine copies being reviewed, and not a professionally designed spoof?

🤣 Sadly for Harry I think this is the genuine article that he thinks will garner sympathy and support for him.

What I don’t understand is why she then sent MM flowers. Because under those circumstances I would have said my children will not be participating in your wedding and you can fuck off.

Obviously K couldn’t actually do that but send flowers..nah.

Catspyjamas17 · 05/01/2023 16:53

Are you all hate Meghan bots or what? Honestly it's all just so minor. It's the sort of thing my SIL would say to me, we would both laugh and we would certainly not be falling out about it.

DarkDarkNight · 05/01/2023 16:55

We don’t know the background so it’s hard to read the tone at all. If after I had had a baby I’d done something daft or forgotten something I should know for example and somebody said ‘oh, you have baby brain’ I wouldn’t be insulted. If I had a disagreement with someone about a non-issue like tights or no tights and got upset and someone said ‘oh it’s maybe your hormones’ it could have been said in a soothing or patronising or nasty manner. We don’t know.

Meghan being corrected and told she didn’t know Kate well enough to say that was extremely patronising.

Clearly it wasn’t minor as it left them both in tears.

How you and your SiL would react isn’t really relevant.

Motelschmotel · 05/01/2023 16:59

It's all a bit "posh Eastenders", isn't it?

Christ this is all so bloody undignified. Did properly laugh at a previous poster saying Kate should have pushed her into a dog bowl too though 😅.

I did too - that was a brilliant line!!

The whole thing is toecurling and fascinating! I can't believe he put those things in print!! Even to the comment the King made to him and W at Prince Philip's funeral - is nothing sacred?

As for W pushing H over, good on W!! H deserves his bloody arse kicked, spiteful, traitorous fool! Killed 25 Taliban, but is a wimp when his brother shouts at him and breaks his necklace. Wow, just wow!! Complains W swore at him but all poor innocent little H did was get him a glass of water - I'd be willing to bet that W reacted in anger to something precious H said, but then the innocent H is never in the wrong!!

There's more holes in their stories than in a shopful of sieves!! Seems 'Harold' has just confirmed that M made K cry - and K was so gracious about it she brought the nasty, narcissist flowers afterwards - when the self-proclaimed so called feminist made a rude, uncalled for comment to a woman destined to be Queen, whom she barely knew?!! Plus she already complained that W and K were formal in private - so why would she make a comment that she'd allegedly make to a friend?

As the saying goes, to be a good liar you need to have a good memory... My flabber is well and truly ghasted - and this is only a snippet!!

What on earth has that woman done to a man who used to be hugely popular and generally affable? I always liked H and hoped MM would make him happy, but she's leading him by the nose in trying to destroy his relationship with his family same as she has done with hers... and the halfwit can't see what he's done?! How can there ever be a reconciliation after this - is he mad?! Actually, they deserve each other. They are so bitter and jealous, it's staggering - and they think that telling the world this is good for them? Think they are going hell for leather to make money now as interest in them will wane away. Then she can leave him for someone more useful to her and take half the money plus the kids... and he will be stuck in the US. Who would ever trust the pair of them with anything again as they've shown how very low they will stoop for revenge and money. I so hope they get their come-uppance.

Finally - am I going to run out of !s and ?s lol!

Yes this, I think it makes them both look a bit bad, in the overreaction. I imagine it’s because of everything else that was going on at the time - the swirling undercurrents. The thing is though - the real problem
is how it was originally leaked as a story. Presumably if it never was, it would have blown over.

AcrossthePond55 · 05/01/2023 17:02

Let's see what we can add to the toxic mishmash of 'revelations' we've already had so far:

He and William 'begged' Charles not to marry Camilla.
Meghan DID make Kate cry then became offended when called on it
Harry aka 'Royal Rambo' has 'personally' killed 25 insurgents

From an 'LA entertainment community' point of view they are now officially in 'Kardashian Territory' and thus no longer interesting or relevant as people 'one wishes to know'. But as long as there's a buck to be made from them, they'll keep offering them deals. Too bad H and M don't realize they're being treated like 'cash cows' rather than a seriously wronged couple.

The harder H tries to justify his and M's actions and words, garner universal sympathy, and vilify his closest relatives, the worse he and M end up looking. This is where their 'true' friends, whoever they are, really need to tell them to just STFU before they burn their own house down.

Yes, it’s strange, but both of these stories have come from H & M.

They mustn't have any friends left - they will too afraid that H&M will sell them out to the highest bidder.

Maybe W and H did beg C not to marry Camilla but they were probably still in their teens with talk of wicked stepmothers - and whatever anyone thinks of her, she and he appear happy with each other.

Ineedtosleep79 · 05/01/2023 17:08

I would not get upset at this tbh. Baby brain is something people joke about on Mumsnet, so what?

BMW6 · 05/01/2023 17:08

Well I can't imagine the Sussex's will be invited to attend many A list events now they have demonstrated their indiscretion so blatantly.

They are making themselves as welcome as a month old corpse.

bakalava · 05/01/2023 17:08

Nice girls always send flowers. Kate has those kinds of family values. Trying to get family relationships back on track to avoid, well, what we have now. MM was too damaged by her own dysfunctions to appreciate it.
It doesn't mean that KM thought that she had been unreasonable. It was a mature and generous response which MM misinterpreted.

saffronrabbit · 05/01/2023 17:10

'We don’t know the background so it’s hard to read the tone at all'

The fact that Kate cried, William got involved and it got heated shows tray is wasn't delivered in a flippant and jokey way obviously.

It also suggested to me that it wasn't the first time she'd been rude to Kate...as the way K & W reacted sounds like it was 'the last straw'

.....and The Markles weren't even married yet...yikes

I saw that and totally get why Kate was pissed off.

Anyone telling a woman to calm down because of hormones is out of order. But a child free woman telling one who's just had a baby that her hormones are acting up. I'm not surprised she was fuming.

I hope Megan felt remorse once she'd had a baby and realised what she'd done.

Yes and Meghan a feminist. It reflects very badly on her.

fartichoke · 05/01/2023 15:16

Right now, they are exciting and explosive because it's so hilariously shocking, but this is not how you build a long-term brand.

People aren't going to keep dipping into their pockets for this ironically tabloid style of scandalous exclusives and tedious dripfeed.

There is deafening silence from prestigious brands (i.e. not content creators like Netflix), Hollywood A-listers and all of H&M's supposed 'friends in high places'.

No one in the higher echelons is going to back them now - because they've seen what lengths H&M will go to to try to destroy reputations.

This is a very strange path to try to beat to the white house (Meghan), or back into the prestige and wealth and affection of your family (Harry)!

Agree. ‘Royal’ and ‘Duke and Duchess’ are perfect for a prestige brand - or at least aspirational products. Mixed with some philanthropy. The people who buy into this value discretion very highly.

healthadvice123 · 05/01/2023 17:15

@DarkDarkNight why is it being patronising for someone to tell her what she said was insensitive ? But ok for her fo say it ?

MoirasSaggyBundles · 05/01/2023 17:15

If Babybraingate was a none story - resolved at the time via flowers and apologies - why did Meghan turn it into a massive deal on Oprah? They can't have it both ways. It was either something and nothing, or it was a big enough deal for them to mention in a "truth bomb" interview and a tell all book.
