He really is a fool. This fight/feud is his doing and is one sided. The entitlement, the flouncing, the back stabbing is all him and his wife. If I were his sibling I’d never want to lay eyes on him again.

LemonSwan · 02/01/2023 14:21

I was just starting to feel sorry for them after Netflix as I think they have bad council, poor mental health and are being exploited to some degree; but my god they really are insufferable.

Inkanta · 02/01/2023 14:22

how can a well-oiled, funded and staffed institution like the Royal family ever be the victims! I think the Royal Family could have easily protected H &M

Yes - he's challenging the press and the palace/royal family and he wants accountability. He's not got it yet. He's every right to challenge the whole system because he lost his mum - she was only 36, and then his wife gets hounded and is not protected by the royal family.

The contrast with Michelle Obama is vast.

Isn’t it just?

Does anyone know exactly what the RF has done wrong? They are - by very definition - a hierarchy based on primogeniture. There's no getting round this - it's the reason ant-monarchists want them to be abolished. Harry was born second and while he once rejoiced in that fact - enjoying more freedom and getting away with more indiscretions than his older brother ever could - his wife has persuaded him that this is not fair. None of this comes as any surprise to anyone British, but Harry has made the mistake or marrying an American who just doesn't get it. She seems to have harboured a hope that things might change for her and because of her (and because she had rather a grand church wedding despite being a divorcee - a privilege that wasn't extended to the now King) - she is completely unable to grasp that nothing ever really changes because that's actually the point of the monarchy. It's not an egalitarian system. Everything goes to William and Kate. In fact her mistake was looking at William and Kate and thinking that was how her life might pan out, instead of looking at Anne and Andrew and Edward and at all their children - the ones who just missed out.

He wants them back as he’s run out of material and needs new fodder for Netflix

They want to be front and centre at The Coronation I imagine so they can get more fodder for their books/TV deals

This is spot on.

IMHO the NF series was a curated construction to present a better image to the the public and to “tidy up” their inconsistent narrative that backfired on them after the OW interview.

However IMHO it has all backfired yet again as they have not turned around the affections of the general public with the 6 hr NF opportunity. Their words, attitudes and behaviours are just jarring for many.

I think that these TV interviews (ITV for the U.K. and CBS for the US) are a post NF attempt to yet again try to win people over to their POV - PH looks and sounds quite desperate and fractious in this clip.

He is still banging on about being wronged in detail as a monologue on a world stage - and then slips in the disingenuous desire for reconciliation nonsense.

He is just whipping up sales for his book.

confusedlots · 02/01/2023 14:25

I do feel sorry for Harry. He was the youngest child, spoilt by his mother who clearly adored him, but his relationship with his mother was different to the one she had with William who was being brought up to be a future King. I always imagined she had more fun with Harry and treated him more like a normal child. Then that was all very suddenly and tragically taken away from him at a young age and he clearly has been massively affected by the lack of a loving mother during those years.

His words and actions are so different and he seems to have no idea what he's really thinking or feeling. He needs to focus his efforts on some decent therapy or counselling however instead of this bizarre media circus.

Coxspurplepippin · 02/01/2023 14:27

'we are about to have a new king that the majority of the public do not want'

That's just incorrect though, isn't it? If you want a republic, then campaign for a referendum but don't make up figures to try and prove your point. Polls are showing between 61 and 67% in favour of maintaining the monarchy.

Where do you get that from? Have they said this? NO

They were very low key at the Queen's funeral so you are just making stuff up.

Well said, @Coxspurplepippin Way too many conveniently glib comments about this. And a total lack of understanding of what the Crown Estate delivers to the public purse every single year.

Stop giving interviews (selling interviews) would be my advice.

👏👏👏

EconomyClassRockstar · 02/01/2023 14:33

I think Charles has behaved (or allowed his "people" to behave) like a giant asshole in this whole thing and, if he can't even pick up the phone and call his own child, he has no place being King of entire countries. But that's just me! I will quite happily admit to not being that clown's biggest fan, even before this whole debacle began.

Frankola · 02/01/2023 14:33

He's like a big spoiled baby seeking constant attention.

And I find it astounding that he is doing the very thing that he and Meghan kicked Thomas Markle to the curb for. Yet expect people to applaud it when he does it.

MarshaMelrose · 02/01/2023 14:34

WifeOfEddieMunson · 02/01/2023 14:19

This is an excellent media strategy. Keep everyone gossiping about some pretend RF rift so that there is no public debate on why we are about to have a new king that the majority of the public do not want.

Whilst we live with a monarchy we are not a democracy.

Whilst there was 1 Trump, there are many example of amazing presidents across the world.

....and don't get me started on the paedophile 'Prince' Andrew. How could an elected President be worse that that?

Aren't both Clinton and Trump tied to Epstein, Clinton, whilst president, flying and staying with him regularly on his islands. Their involvement was much greater than PAs. That's how elected presidents are, not could be, worse than that.

I would genuinely like to understand this too.

🙄 here you go, read the DM if you can't be bothered to look for it yourself. I'm not going to search for the rest of it. I think most would agree the media has been especially horrible (racist and Jeremy Clarkson is not the only one doling out mysogny) but an awful of people are acting as if she deserves it. Why wouldn't you want to defend yourself and your family from it? Why wouldn't you expect your wider family to defend you?

I wonder if the same people who criticised Camilla for attending the same lunch as Jeremy Clarkson days before his offensive article was published will also be so disdainful of Harry giving an interview to the channel which pays Jeremy Clarkson millions a year?

you mean the same one that the PK did a carol concert with

Exactly. And here are just some of the books written about Harry, based on gossip and 'royal sources' (royal sources my arse). These people make money out of him. Why can't he write one book with his side of the story.

But we don’t know if he picks up the phone do we? Because we never hear his side. We know that Meghan doesn’t pick up the phone because both sides say it. It’s never possible to know what’s really going on when only one side is keeping everyone update. Three sides and all that.

MarshaMelrose · 02/01/2023 14:38

The best part is the silence from the RF.

Especially after the OW interview when they'd amassed a camera crew and photographers to catch their reaction to the RF flying off the handle. Lol. Instead they got the Queen issuing an "oh diddums" statement and a text from William which they had to make out was horrendous. Haha. Classic.

Really?

The Queen maybe. Charles is an unknown quantity as Monarch so we don't know that.

Exactly. I can't believe they're still trying to peddle the narrative of 'we did nothing wrong, we just want our family and a nice life' when it makes no sense. If it was true why don't they reconcile with any of the Markle clan that they can tolerate, set up a 'normal' life (normal for celebrities) in USA and stop doing all these interviews/shows/books about the RF. Then they'd look far more credible and probably get more long term support rather than quick bucks for mud slinging.

LillianGish · 02/01/2023 14:39

If he can't even pick up the phone and call his own child No-one in their right mind would want to talk to H&M at the moment for fear of being recorded (and Charles has already had quite enough experience of his phone calls being recorded for one lifetime!)
