Not enough to not take a sovereign grant….

How is it possible to separate out the cash?

Blossomtoes · 04/01/2023 12:17

MarshaMelrose · 04/01/2023 12:16

Haha. Snap Blossom.

Great minds and all that! 😉

In exactly the same way that every business owner has separate money from their company.

Because the money they get from the taxpayer, the sovereign grant, is spent on a number of things set down as their financial responsibility in agreements made with the govt. They keep accounts which are published.
The monarch has personal wealth and they can spend that how they like.

Glindara · 04/01/2023 12:24

Blossomtoes · 04/01/2023 12:15

No, it isn’t. The RF has considerable personal wealth that’s nothing to do with the taxpayer.

Like they say on MN it’s “family money”
all in the same pot - how can HMTQ distinguish the millions of ££££ thrown at silencing Andrew’s crimes are from
”personal” wealth or public funds.

Ultimately all of their accumulated wealth over centuries is at source from the public.

And to step in to buy silence is compliance.

Yep. Wealth brings power and corruption and that's why victims are too scared to speak out.

Great post @SnowlayRoundabout
And I agree with @Walnutwhipsarenothesame reply to your original post

Ugly and distasteful to buy silence for a sex offender of young traffic girls.

There should always be scrutiny of actions and their associated morals/values.

Its indefensible.

Grin

The sovereign grant spending is accounted for - you can look it up. There isn't an entry 'Prince Andrew bailout'.

It's not the same 'pot' - the sovereign grant covers things like state banquets, official travel etc. What members of the RF choose to spend their own money on is up to them. It's like the difference between your income and your expenses claim.

But you know this

blondiepinka · 04/01/2023 12:34

I feel Harry doing this interview and saying he wants his father back isn't that the same sort of thing that Thomas Markle did saying he wanted his daughter back? Yet H&M condemned him for that. How does Harry think the RF will want to reach out and reconcile when he didn't want to when in a similar position?

Yep. Thomas Markle is obviously Harry's role model because he is constantly copying his behaviour.

I thought that the payout the Queen made on Andrew's behalf was a loan u til he sold that skiing chalet? Which is now sorted, I believe, so the debt should have been repaid?

Still ugly and distasteful to buy silence for a sex offender of young traffic girls which ever way the money trail meanders

SnowlayRoundabout · 04/01/2023 12:08

I started out as Team H&M - I thought Meghan would be a breath of fresh air and that she seemed bright and engaged, and I positively enjoyed the way it all outraged the racists. When they left, I thought it was a shame that they felt they had to but I could understand it. I don't read the Mail, Express or Sun.

What has put me off them, sadly, is nothing more than the evidence of my own eyes, i.e. from having watched their interviews and read what they have to say. If they had gone to the US and simply quietly got on with their lives, I would have no problem with that. What I dislike is the constant moaning about how dreadful it all is whilst they do their utmost to exploit the RF connection and Harry's sainted mother, tacitly demand a LOT of financial support, and the constant seeking after publicity whilst whinging about how dreadful all the media attention is. Also moaning about pretty inconsequential stuff, like Harry not being able to wear tiny insignia on his uniform at the funeral showing that he is an aide to the Queen because, guess what, he had stopped being her aide. I don't hate them in the least, and in some ways I think it is really quite sad how Harry has totally shot himself in the foot. Ultimately I think they should shut down on all publicity and largely disappear from public life, and I suspect Harry at least would be considerably happier if he did that

Yes, @SnowlayRoundabout you sum up my feelings too

I'd like to know his actual Aunts reaction to his behaviour. Princess Anne and Lady Sarah and Lady Jane (both nee Spencer).
Yes - that would be interesting. Especially Princess Anne's version.

Princess Ann supposedly spoke sometime to Meghan when she was first introduced to the R.F. Afterwards her comment was, apparently. "She'll never stick it"

upinaballoon · 04/01/2023 12:43

"Maybe his book (Harry's book) will be brave enough to speak out (about Andrew)."

I would put a small bet on Harry's book saying very little or even nothing, about Andrew, except the fact that A was the spare for a while.

BethDuttonsTwin · 04/01/2023 12:43

Rockybooboo · 04/01/2023 11:54

I don't think that all Harry and Meghan critics are haters but there are a few posters who sound unhinged with hate especially towards Meghan and this is an example. It's actually quite scary.

What’s “scary” about it? Why are you “scared”? What do you think is going to happen?

VG sued PA. She sued for financial compensation. She agreed to settle the care an unknown sum from PA. She didn't have to. She could have proceded to court abd let a judge make a decision. She decided not to. No one forced her. She didn't have her silence bought. She can still speak about it. She just would rather take the money than speak about it in court and have her claims challenged by a lawyer cross examining her. That's her choice. If it's indefensible, then she's complicit too.
She also sued Alan Dershowitz. He refused to settle and wanted his day in court to prove she was lying (according to him). Rather than go to court she withdrew her complaint, apologised and said she'd made a mistake and had wrongly accused him.

It's not going low. It's just common sense
If no one says they're a victim, how do you know there are victims?
If someone says they're a victim, they're not too scared to speak out.

It’s all about the wielding and abuse of power - rich connected male vs poor disenfranchised girls / young women - to the very end
