It's obvious what Harry is doing, he's playing to the US crowd and presenting a 'I've tried to talk to them about my feelings but they won't because their so dysfunctional' view. He's trying to get the high ground.

Problem is the more he talks, the less he actually has to say.

The story about Meghan writing a book is clearly a veiled threat as well. 'Let us back in or we'll go nuclear'. She has no loyalty to the RF whatsoever, so the gloves would be off.

I think they are being very short sighted. Charles is not a young man, at some point the crown will pass to William and Kate and then their bridges have well and truly been burnt. W&Ks kids will eventually take centre stage as they will be more interesting to the media, Harry and Meghan will become less and less relevant.

If I were William I would do absolutely nothing, let them fire all their ammo until they've literally got nothing left. Then, if Meghan releases a book, I'd lift the Non Disclosure Agreement with the Palace staff she allegedly bullied and let those people speak their truth.

It's obvious what Harry's strategy is and what the RF strategy is. Thing is the RF has more road and more generations to keep the Daily Mail in profit.

As a republican I have no skin in the game, but it's fairly obvious where this heading. The RF will do what they always do, ignore, carry on and it all passes. Ultimate Grey Rock masters to be fair. Its how they've survived.

No mistaking his wife has been atrociously treated, and to some extent he probably has, too. His family (not excluding himself) has a demonstrable track-record of exactly the kind of prejudices they are complaining about. Similarly, the complaint about feeding stories to the press seems highly plausible to me, given Charles's household used a precisely similar MO about Diana. For an indication of someone's present/future behaviour, it's necessary to look no further than their actions in the past.

It seems difficult for a biased media to comprehend that this couple might have some legitimate complaints. They likely do. But two things are evident from this interview. First, is that they've been firing snide innuendos at veiled family members without coming out and saying exactly what it is that's pissed them off. That's cowardice. Shit, or get off the pot.

Second: having hit out in that way, he's now saying he wants his father and brother back. Something about this smacks very strongly of the well-documented oscillation between love-bombing and 'negging', for want of a better word, practiced by those of an abusive disposition.

I have to lay my prejudices bear and say don't have much sympathy for any one member of this overprivileged, teflon-coated, establishment mob. In return for that privilege they can't even make a pretence at basic civility in public. They are a shower. But whilst I think the Windsors are a set of racist, colonialist, entitled, dim, arrogant buffoons with a misplaced social superiority complex, and am very willing to believe they treated the spare and his Mrs as unworthy, he is rapidly losing any sympathy I might have had for him.

That family has some serious growing up to do. The whole bunch of them need their heads banging together.

Harry really needs something to do.

He desperately needs a job.

Problem is, who'd employ him?

True, he seems to be spiralling and the pp re the scowling was spot on

Thighlengthboots · 02/01/2023 13:38

He's an idiot. If he really wanted to reconcile with his brother and father he wouldnt be slagging them off every opportunity he gets (making huge sums of money from doing so) and then acting completely baffled that they dont wish to spend time with him. I wouldnt either if my sister had told the national press over and over again about how awful I was. Its fine for him to have issues with his childhood and to be unhappy about things his father/brother did/didnt do but if your true, honest intention was to make peace you'd talk to them about it like grown ups, you woudnt be selling stories and doing interviews with anyone who will listen slating them and then with this faux "why arent they breaking down my door with unconditional love and apologies" BS. Idiot.

There is invariably some fault on both sides here, and other parts that are neither sides fault but simply the bizarre situation they find themselves in as ‘the royal family’.

In a normal family - a private one - you perhaps have some family therapy where both sides are able to present their side, how they feel, how thy neither side’s actions has affected them etc. Both sides would also reflect and take responsibility for their own part in it, apologise where needed and hopefully move closer together to repair the relationship, taking mutual responsibility.

This will never happen here, not least because Harry seems incapable of even entertaining the merest suggestion that he may hold even the smallest amount of responsibility for his own actions and choices.

Nailed it in one. Meghan backs him up 100% and so do their hanger on friends.

My DB was married to a woman who’d been traumatised and had undergone years of therapy and she projected issues within our family which weren’t there at all, so I can see similar in what Meghan is doing, I’m guessing.

tara66 · 02/01/2023 13:39

I doubt either C or W will ever be able to go back to the same family relationship they used to have with H. He burnt his bridges. Does he actually not realise that?

IcedPurple · 02/01/2023 13:40

I think what enrages him and his wife the most is the stone cold silence from the royals.

They are desperate to provoke a response, but unless some really serious specific accusations are made, I don't see it happening.

And once the 'memoirs' have had their 15 minutes, what's next?

Inkanta · 02/01/2023 13:40

I don't believe Harry is a narcissist, delusional, unintelligent, or a mess, with serious mental health issues as has been suggested this afternoon. These are just disparaging words. I want to hear him out.

Drfosters · 02/01/2023 13:42

Does anyone know exactly what the RF has done wrong? I genuinely don’t understand the exact allegations. I hear a lot of upset and lots of vague statements and requests for apologies but I’ve really struggled to identify what they have done wrong. Happy for someone to enlighten me.

Why not quote the whole paragraph? This is so typical of people when they want to paint a negative picture of a story. He actually adds that he wants a family, not an institution. Which makes sense to me. Even if I also understand that it's unlikely it's possible given the structure of the Royal family.

... but he's quite happy to cream millions of dollars off of the name of the institution and what's it's given him in his privileged platinum plated life - but he's ducked them all over for greed ... and now he's going down the 'I want me daddy and brother' ... excepts his really shit on them all, many times, from a big height ... for greed - good luck Hazza

Nothing was really revealed in the netflix pity party. "William shouted at me"
About what?
"Charles lied to me"
About what?
Someone questioned the colour of Archies skin. Who?
What did william say in his text after the Oprah carcrash that was so shocking?
I think if the RF do agree to a meeting as H&M wish, they would be well advised to record everything, by audio and video.
Just so there are no "misunderstandings "

This is the most that Harry has revealed though - he's given very few specifics. He said he would never reveal who questioned the colour of his child's skin and he hasn't. The docu was mainly an attack on the institution.

By contrast, he said that details of a private email to his father were leaked to the media and a press release was put out in his name without his consent, saying that he was not bullied out but implied that's how he felt.

I think he's been quite careful about not revealing confidences. I'm very curious if he goes any further in the interview and his book.

Hear him out? There's a reality show on Netfix if you subscribe.

It's just all same old same old. 'We didn't get what we wanted, we are bitter and full of vitriol and want revenge'.

All very sad, perhaps they could have an LA oversharers club for the Sussexes and Markle Senior, they could compare notes and see who was the best/worst at it.

caringcarer · 02/01/2023 13:46

If he goes for William, and lashes out at Kate, as has been leaked he has done then I'd be surprised if William forgave him. King Charles is already 74 and it might not be too many years off before William is King and Kate Queen. Harry just needs to keep his mouth shut but he won't. He has 3 more books to fill full of drivel and tittle tattle. I see Spare £24 is already half price in many places pre order and Tesco only valuing it at £8. Soon it will be in the Works for £2.50. It will be interesting to see if he goes for Camilla. King Charles might think that a step too far.

Glindara · 02/01/2023 13:48

The king was in his counting house counting out his money,

The queen was in the parlour eating bread and honey
,

The prince was in the garden hanging out his dirty clothes,

When down came a blackbird and pecked off his nose!

It’s like some dystopian Christmas pantomime which keeps on giving….

susan12345678 · 02/01/2023 13:48

He says:

“Every single time I've tried to do it privately there have been briefings and leakings and planting of stories against me and my wife”

it’s always so vague, isn’t it? And it’s pretty obvious why. He won’t sound very sympathetic if he told the full story.

“Every single time I’ve tried to have a tantrum about not being able to wear my uniform or ask for more money or demand an apology privately after smearing my family in interviews there have been accurate briefings and leakings and planting of stories against me and my wife.”

what has happened is that they have behaved badly in private (eg Megan’s tiara tantrum) in front of palace staff and some of those people have leaked it to the press. Probably the same people they were bullying.

It’s all so sad. The pair of them are stuck in a mire of grievance and victimhood and can’t seem to move on. Yo can behave the way they gave touch and expect your relationships not to be badly damaged.

They failed to protect Meghan from racist stories in the media. The family did nothing to stop it, saying that everyone else had to go through it at some point, not recognising how much worse racist abuse can be. He also suggests the institution fed stories to the media to draw attention away from other members of the RF. When he wanted to leave the RF, his father insisted Harry put it in writing, which was subsequently leaked. They told their side and now they've been frozen out. That sounds pretty wrong to me.

healthadvice123 · 02/01/2023 13:51

@Mamma34575 what racist things were in the media can you link to the stories

tara66 · 02/01/2023 13:52

He is their ultimate ''loose cannon''.

PatchworkElmer · 02/01/2023 13:52

Generally I think I’m more ‘team Harry/ Meghan’ now, BUT he’s doing himself no favours here. This stuff needs to be kept out of the press if he genuinely wants to reconcile.

Laiste · 02/01/2023 13:52

Harry knows full well that the RF wont retaliate.

He and M are throwing everything they have at them for as much ££ and for as long as they can drag it out for.

We know it, they know it, the RF know it.

In a couple of years there'll be no more ''shock horror guess what?!'' left to tell and the dust will settle. The RF will be doing RF stuff (like it or not) and that dozy pair will be left having to find some thing else to live off/for.

I'm personally starting to wonder if this unhappy, angry and paranoid man might represent a real danger to his wife. He is very invested in likening her to his dead mother, with whom he is obsessed.

If I were risk profiling this family I would be very concerned about the adult male being clearly mentally distressed, becoming isolated from his family of origin, making grandiose statements and claims, and - on camera, ffs - showing contempt in his face towards his wife on occasion.

This is not a well man. This is not a nice man. I think his wife took an opportunity with him but has got herself into some very deep water here, and is herself isolated in many ways. 'We don't get out much', laughed Harry to the cameras at that award ceremony. I bet you don't, H, I bet you don't.

Get a fucking grip🙄

BasiliskStare · 02/01/2023 13:56

I think it has been widely reported that Charles will keep the door open for Harry if he ever wants to return to the family - what parent would not ( well some but I think most would)

Charles is 74 and in good health so I think many years to go when Harry could be welcomed back. & I suspect Harry knows he will not be cut out whilst his father is alive

That said - I do think they have behaved badly. Whether you like the RF or not ( & I know many don't ) I am not sure what choice they (RF) have other than to keep Schtum & let Harry fire his bullets )

I have no idea how he and Meghan are going down in the US but just at the moment it seems ( other than the Invictus Games ) they do not have a great deal in their arsenal other than complaining about the RF.

Such a shame I think when a family falls out for what seem to be differences which it feels like could have been sorted out by a bit of discussion.
