The royal family

To think the palace should issue a statement condemning Clarkson's comments?

Reindeersnooker · 20/12/2022 16:01

I'm all for their dignified silence on everything else. I don't trust Harry or Megan. But Jeremy Clarkson's comments are horrific and were made in Britain against a woman who has become a member of their family.

NOT issuing a statement sends out such a hurtful message and indicates that anything can be said about her, for all they care. Even the MPs have managed to put something on paper.

It's clear that Harry will be beyond hurt if they do nothing and this time he'd have a point, IMO. Each comment like this published in the press erodes the boundaries for online trolls. If I was Meghan, I wouldn't feel I could return to the UK as it's clear the normal rules don't apply to her. What will her children think of Britain when they grow up and become aware of these articles? Won't they be likely to wonder how the palace responded? While it makes no sense to try and placate Harry generally, letting this play out without one word of censure to the press seems needlessly provocative.

It wouldn't be difficult to issue a statement saying something to the effect of "We stand against bullying and hate speech..." Two lines to indicate they see it and it's not ok.

Or not?

@LydiaBennetsUglyBonnet Camilla does not care, that is why she will do nothing. She may even condone it.

You should have said you knew her personally! Not very nice to slag your friend off.

There’s always an echo chamber on this topic due to a number of persistent and obsessed M&H sycophants. I don’t think MN represents the wider world TBH

Haha... it just means the posters on threads endlessly knocking her don't all get their own way now. Times they have a'changed.

Do you really think that? Honestly?

They certainly have Roussette.

I remember when it was you, Samcro and Froggy who were lone voices.

Christ, the hate was unreal then. This is childs play in comparison.

Do you remember that god awful cheap knock-off version of MN? What was it called Mumschat, or something?

@minou123 Do I remember it lol. I called it PLMN. (Poundland MN hehe) And there were on average about 20 posts a day literally slagging me off in every which way imaginable, disgusting stuff. Then coming back on MN to follow me round anywhere I posted to troll me. It was a pretty horrible time for me actually. And I know some of them have creeped back on here. I will say MNHQ were very helpful at the time.

Yes, this is childs play in comparison. I don't feel on my own with it. There are some rational sensible people who are pushing back.

Rhondaa · 22/12/2022 09:48

'There are some rational sensible people who are pushing back.'

Yes more and more people have seen this pair for what they are, fame hungry wannabees using their perceived slights to garner support whilst protesting racism at every criticism.

I've no idea how presented with the latest evidence ie this awful gossipy reality show some stalwarts refuse to accept 'race' and 'haterz' are nothing to do with it.

Roussette · 22/12/2022 09:50

Totally disagree with you janiie (wot a surprise!).

I can tell the mood has changed about them, if only from the threads on here.

Of course that will be very frustrating for 'TWANKOT'
(those who are not keen on them)

Rhondaa · 22/12/2022 09:54

'I can tell the mood has changed about them, if only from the threads on here.'

It's funny, I'd have <obviously lol> said the opposit. There are less and less supporters.

You know, a few years ago we all predicted they are after a book deal, a chat show appearance and then the ultimate.. a reality show where they threw everyone who had crossed them down the river, and here we are.

Roussette · 22/12/2022 09:57

There are less and less supporters.

Nope. I used to get harangued and bullied off of threads when there would be just me, maybe Samcro and Froggy. So many posts and threads deleted. I've been on these threads for 5 years now on and off and it was very uncomfortable to be on the opposite side. Now I don't feel it's an opposite side and I feel far more comfortable posting because there are far more neutral or pro Meghan posters around. I can only speak as I find.

Karwomannghia · 22/12/2022 10:02

Well I was neutral before but have definitely learned from the series about the toxic relationship the RF have with the press, through their rotation arrangement, which isn’t gossip or opinion, but fact. It has also shone a light on how royal women are expected to tolerate abuse by the press and following on from that the public who have been influenced by it and it’s refreshing to have the voice of them speaking their unrestricted truth which isn’t shackled by royal protocol or keeping up their image. And the outrage it has caused by conservatives who desperately don’t want to rock the boat and show the ugly side has only compounded what they say. I never imagined what an uproar it would cause and my god what vile reactions it has brought out in people.

Rhondaa · 22/12/2022 10:04

I'll predict how the next few pan out..the rf will continue not to react as they know how emotionally and mentally fragile H is. They will take it and take it, then when his usefulness in the US is over when the Netflix cash cow has dried up and folk have stopped taking his calls cos let's face or how much mileage is there in 'the media are awful', they will welcome him back and support him when the inevitable attacks against him from the US start.

It's all so sad and unnecessary. Why can't he just live his life and be happy, why the need to film every single thing they do even bathing their poor kids, why the passive aggressive comments against the formal shoe wearing rf and why do everything he was fuuuuuuuming with Markle senior for?!!

If you don't value the Royal Family And/or believe the monarchy should be abolished then why would you want them to contribute to the controversy? The reality of a monarchy-free UK would be people standing up for themselves and a lot more confrontation, media manipulation, trolling and the rest of it.

Sorry, why would a republic mean more trolling? Are the royals some sort of bejewelled moderators of the kingdom – like MNHQ with sceptres? (I hope MNHQ have sceptres!)

ThighMistress · 22/12/2022 13:30

If the truth be told the Supporters are punching the air with glee at that Clarkson article. We had reached a point where H&M were at a low ebb popularity wise, with many thinking their documentary a long-winded spiteful whinge wrapped up with a big bow of Lifetime Movie of the week.

Now, with a fortuitous twist along comes some unpleasant oaf and absolves M&H of everything!

M&H were 3-0 down, have pulled back 3 with the help of JC, may even now be dominating the game…. Let’s see how extra time goes with the Spare book. It could go either way…

I'm not punching the air with glee. I am shocked and taken aback at the article and how it was allowed to stand for so long. And how women have been taken back 20 years with this shit. And how I really wish it hadn't happened. So there

I liked their docseries and dont consider it a 'spiteful whinge'. Viewing figures say otherwise even though there were those watching it to just throw excretement at her.

For you Thigh

"Jeremy Clarkson's REPULSIVE Attack on Meghan Markle: Why Men Must Speak Up"

I dare you to watch it.

Try again

Roussette · 22/12/2022 13:36

If it doesn't work (no idea why) look at YouTube Owen Jones. Every woman should watch it.

Looking at some of the "It just proves H&M were right" posts you may have a point, though admittedly few are from the more balanced posters

It actually proves no such thing since Clarkson speaks for nobody but himself, and one brutish oaf changes nothing about some of the lies which have been told

FWIW I do agree with some of their comments about the gutter media - we've seen it again with the ITV CEO's decision to retain Clarkson - but anyone with sense already knows the media can be slime, and they're slime who the couple are only too happy to use when it suits

I hope so too. 😁

Wouldnt it be great if MNHQ had orbs and crowns and deletion messages were:

"Thou art banned from this kingdom and ye shall not be heard furthermore. Go thy way, peasant"

Quite. I’d sooner eat my own liver than watch Owen Jones. Being blocked by him on Twitter was a huge compliment.
