The royal family

To think the palace should issue a statement condemning Clarkson's comments?

Reindeersnooker · 20/12/2022 16:01

I'm all for their dignified silence on everything else. I don't trust Harry or Megan. But Jeremy Clarkson's comments are horrific and were made in Britain against a woman who has become a member of their family.

NOT issuing a statement sends out such a hurtful message and indicates that anything can be said about her, for all they care. Even the MPs have managed to put something on paper.

It's clear that Harry will be beyond hurt if they do nothing and this time he'd have a point, IMO. Each comment like this published in the press erodes the boundaries for online trolls. If I was Meghan, I wouldn't feel I could return to the UK as it's clear the normal rules don't apply to her. What will her children think of Britain when they grow up and become aware of these articles? Won't they be likely to wonder how the palace responded? While it makes no sense to try and placate Harry generally, letting this play out without one word of censure to the press seems needlessly provocative.

It wouldn't be difficult to issue a statement saying something to the effect of "We stand against bullying and hate speech..." Two lines to indicate they see it and it's not ok.

Or not?

Piers Morgan should be toxic person no 1 to avoid.

It's callous and careless.

AliceOlive · 21/12/2022 11:16

It’s a stretch to say that anyone’s reputation can be judged by the tone or sentiment on these boards.

The people that already hated the RF are continuing to feel that way. No surprises here.

minou123 · 21/12/2022 11:15

Um, William and Kate released a statement on thier twitter account, condeming the racism the England Footballers faced in Euros last year.

The RF are not responsible for the racism in the press and social media and the public were already condeming the racism.

Yet, they used thier platform to condemn it.

So they can and do condemn hatred.

Probably because he’s the President of the FA so it very much is on him to speak out against hateful issues in football. Racism was happening in his watch.

AFAIK no member of the RF represents The Sun in an official capacity

They’ve been through worse. They’ll be fine.

Give it a rest.

Well no.

I don't hate the royals at all.
At all..
I'm certainly no mad fan either but this is looking extremely grubby.
Extremely grubby.

and I think that’s perhaps one of the most ridiculous things to blame an unassociated woman for.

Unassociated? Crumbs. It's her DIL, like it or not.

She isn’t associated to Clarkson, Morgan or the Sun though, that obviously being my point

No I don't think they Will this time.

As a father Charles should not stay silent.
Maybe he literally doesn't care..

Charles and Camilla suddenly seem small and cowardly whilst piers Morgan and Clarkson stand giant like bearing down on mm via the press.

Exactly!

And I would like a link to there being 200 people there. I've not seen that quoted anywhere.

I wonder if Angela Levin the other vile spewer or MM hate was there? She'd be mightily pissed off if she wasn't after writing a Camilla book recently (that ended up in the middle aisle of Aldi within weeks)

I liken it to given Omid Scobie the play by play so he can live tweet for H&M while the Queen was passing.

He’s written some horrible things and would be glad for the Royal Family to disappear. But he’s been called a friend and used as a mouthpiece, even at such a time. Actually, I think this is all worse than being present at the same 100+ person affair.

As is yours seeing as you’re still posting nonsense condemning a woman who’s literally done or said nothing wrong for the actions of a misogynistic man

Scotland yard have just stated that no criminal offense has been committed

"Sir Mark Rowley, the commissioner of the Metropolitan Police, said officers were 'not there to police people's ethics'."

"Asked if Clarkson had committed a hate crime, the police chef added: ‘There’s a line to be drawn. It’s not for police to get involved in anything that’s about "is something ethical, is it moral. Is it proper, is it offensive".
‘The legal lines are only crossed, generally, when things are said that are intended or likely to stir up or incite violence.
‘I don’t think this is one of those cases but of course we will keep a close eye on it.’"

Indeed. He continues to post vitriol and lies. And MM actually HELPED him write parts of a book that set out to damage the family’s reputation and incite hate.

No one is criticising St Meghan though. And not should they. Because women are not responsible for the actions of vile men - that counts for every woman.

But you're giving Piers Morgan power he doesn't/shouldn't have. He thrives on this stuff. The best way to press the mute button on his wankery is to not respond. By responding/complaining you're giving him power. By ignoring the little pipsqueak, you're removing the power. By not going to the lunch because Morgan was there, all you're doing is suggesting he has power.

Interesting.

Then again nothing was done when Clarkson literally punched someone.

Id love anyone who’s legal eagle to come on and tell us if any civil action could be taken and on what grounds

Yes he is to be talking to his chum Tom Bradby . I can’t see him cancelling as Tom will give him an easier ride than say Andrew Neil .

Well I guess if he's happy to appear on ITV when the boss has described JC is such glowing terms why is anybody worried about Camilla going to a lunch or expecting the palace to say anything. Come on Harry, stand up for your wife this time. He's said he's ashamed he didn't support her more so this is his opportunity to put his month where his mouth is.

No RF are not responsible for comments others make about others. Best they say nothing. H&M bring bad publicity by being so nasty against RF. If they shut up and just got on with their own lives people would forget them but they just keep spewing venom then get all hurt when others spew venom back at them.
