The royal family

Has Jeremy Clarkson just proved Harry and Meghan right?

Stopclutchingpearls · 19/12/2022 17:59

On the radio it was discussing how Harry and Meghan said on Netflix that they got very upset in the past when newspapers would write horrible articles and the Royal Family institute would never have their backs and condone the articles in public.
so after the disgusting article that Jeremy wrote albeit his lame apology on Twitter, there has been no news as far as I am aware of the Royal Family saying violence written about Meghan etc is wrong.
so that being said haven’t they done what Meghan and Harry were moaning about that the Royal family never had their backs?

I couldn't care less about this kind of nonsense.

Your posts are tone deaf and have absolutely nothing to do with the thread.

I'm sure you don't. But it is relevant since a previous poster has been asking multiple times in the thread what lies Harry and Meghan have told.

Irrelevant that you don’t like it. 🤷‍♂️

No one is castigating Judi Dench for being there, or the others who were.

Possibly because Judi Dench isn't Harry's step mother?

Yes.

@EmmaAgain22 but he has already apologised and been condemned by many , what can they add ? Its kind of backfired on him anyway

Who has already apologised?

And which part? 🤨

NaturalBae · 20/12/2022 01:29

bevelino · 19/12/2022 23:10

Clarkson has only apologised in an attempt to save his media career. Whatever you think of Meghan he took hate to another level.

Let’s be clear now - that was not an apology! 😑

Staniel · 20/12/2022 01:29

He hasn't apologised.

Yep, keep on ignoring the fact that a previous poster was asking what lies they've told. That really opens the door to listing them down.

Remember, you are just another poster on Mumsnet. You can keep on being personally disrespectful, but it says more about you than anyone else.

Carry on.... 🤷‍♂️

NaturalBae · 20/12/2022 01:31

@DownNative Looks like you’re on the wrong M&H thread 😐

Copyright against The Sun and Privacy for the Mirror.
But The Mirror was for words. The reporter described eveything he saw and did while at Buck. There was nothing controversial or horrid that he saw, just laid the Queen's breakfast table, what she ate etc. Queen sued for invasion of privacy. (There was a serious concern fur security as well, bit nit sure if yiu can sue someone for that)
She won, both times.

The Queen also sued The Sun another time for Copyright when they somehow managed to get a photo of Fergie and her 2 daughters, that the Queen was planning in using for some official Xmas thing. She won that one aswell.

If you want an example of the RF suing for someone's words. Then we have William and Kate who were very angry at the misogyny and sexism Kate suffered in an article written by Tatler. They started legal proceedings to sue Tatler but Tatler changed the article and removed the offending parts.

The Tatler article was misogynistic and nasty, very similar to the shite you read on MN about Kate, or Meghan for that matter.
They were right to complain and start legal proceedings.

When they want to, they can and do speak out.

Ah the now infamous "turnip toffs" article and speculation - that's one rabbit hole you don't want to go down !

StarbucksSmarterSister · 20/12/2022 01:59

The Royal family never respond to the vitriol some members have endured from the press. Why would they change that?

Because it's the right thing to do? Because it's about time? None of them should have had to put up with abuse but this is off the scale.

And they spoke up very quickly when it was said Kate used Botox and when William was accused of bullying. They respond when it suits them.

The silence of the RF is palpable.
The RF are terrified of the press and what the press may expose about certain individuals in the family.
Those positive PR pieces about Kate, Camilla etc are part of the Faustian Pact the RF have made with the right wing press. KP feeds stories about M and H to the press and provide a few cute photos of George and his siblings and the RF get the positive press.
Harry and Meghan were extremely brave to take on the right wing press. They have successfully sued some of these papers who are therefore intent on destroying the couple.
The right wing press is furious that they don’t have access to Harry and Meghan who are regarded as the superstars of the Royal Family and are the couple who people are interested in. They appear to be carving out a great life in the US and this has angered many
The acceptance of these ‘hit pieces’ against Harry and Meghan by the RF suggest that what Meghan and Harry have said is true.
The likes of Clarkson have proved their point.
The Royal Family have definitely been weakened by the whole thing.
Clarkson’s vile misogynistic article has weakened them even further as they have refused to condemn the article.
I wouldn’t be surprised if they released some wishy washy statement about the article being ‘regrettable’ and that the RF are against any kind of misogyny etc. They will not go too hard because they don’t want to bite the hand that feeds them
The whole thing is a shambles

I was somewhat on the fence about Meghan and Harry up to now. Clarkson's appalling article has made me decide now that they actually do have a point. I hope Meghan and Harry sue him for every penny they can.

Poor Meghan! Imagine reading bile like that about yourself!!

I'm horrified that hate filled articles like this can actually be published. It will look very bad on the Royal Family if they don't respond to condemn this utterly. The deafening silence from them makes me think that actually, they didn't and don't support their own members. They are too dysfunctional and wishy washy about that. Too determined to stick rigidly to the "never complain, never explain" mantra that they revere so much.

onlylarkin · 20/12/2022 03:33

I think this Clarkson thing is going to cause big problems with Camilla.

Just saw (unconfirmed) that he has written articles previously about Meghan and in them talked about her dying. I didnt find that one, didnt dig that deep. But I did find another that talked about he and his friend were arguing about who could come up with the worst insult about her.

There are also articles of him and her having other connections (other than just a guest at the same party). He seems to have said that they used to share a cigarette together during another lunch. So definitely know each other that well.

onlylarkin · 20/12/2022 03:36

for Camilla, not with

verdantverdure · 20/12/2022 04:06

If Jeremy Clarkson had said that about Kate or the Queen or Camilla the Palace and the tabloids would have had his guts for garters.

But because it's Meghan it's being minimised.

That's all the proof needed.

They are family though.

The last week has been a gift to H&M in terms of making their point starkly clear.

First, Lady Hussey's racist interrogation. A close, life-long friend of the Queen who seemed at ease with words and an attitude that most people find abhorrent. Between that and prince Phillip you cam draw your own conclusion about whether there is tolerance to racism in the family or not.
Second, JC's appalling article.
Third, it comes to light that Queen Camilla attended a soirée where Piers Morgan was a guest, too (JC was there but this was before the article). He has been the most public representative of the MM haters and there is no way Camilla doesn't know that. The RF are either ot of touch or poorly advised.
Lastly, total silence from the RF. No condemning of the article. No distancing themselves from vile misogynists. Nothing.

Honestly you couldn't have made it up. What a car crash for the RF.

Bingo!

vera99 · 20/12/2022 04:49

As Meghan said she was thrown to the wolves Clarkson is a wolf in wolves clothing. The concerted, relentless and utterly unforgiving bile poured down on hapless H+Ms head since the doc from the media isn't nothing short of disgraceful and it would take a naif of the highest order to not believe KP haven't had a nudge and a wink role in at least some of it.

SantaStoleMyPies · 20/12/2022 04:50

Too determined to stick rigidly to the "never complain, never explain" mantra that they revere so much.

Only when it suits them, it seems. They certainly do complain and do explain when it's convenient to them to do so.

Will has complained at the press multiple times.

Charles did his own 'explain' TV interview once upon a time.

I think it was the Queen's mantra but is now their excuse.

They always explain and complain through ‘sources’ from the palace.
That ‘never complain, never explain ‘ mantra does not apply to them. Absolute BS

pompomdaisy · 20/12/2022 05:49

As annoying as they both are bleeding about their difficult lives whilst sat in luxury mansions doing fuck all all day. The media and the RF are in a symbiotic relationship and it's heading one way, to their destruction. The sooner the better in all honesty and they can take these Victorian right wing politicians with them too!

He saves that for football players.

"I am sickened by the racist abuse aimed at England players after last night’s match.
It is totally unacceptable that players have to endure this abhorrent behaviour.
It must stop now and all those involved should be held accountable. W2

He can do it if he wants. He can be sickened by abhorrent behaviour. He wouldn't dream of doing it for his brother and wife.
