The royal family

Has Jeremy Clarkson just proved Harry and Meghan right?

Stopclutchingpearls · 19/12/2022 17:59

On the radio it was discussing how Harry and Meghan said on Netflix that they got very upset in the past when newspapers would write horrible articles and the Royal Family institute would never have their backs and condone the articles in public.
so after the disgusting article that Jeremy wrote albeit his lame apology on Twitter, there has been no news as far as I am aware of the Royal Family saying violence written about Meghan etc is wrong.
so that being said haven’t they done what Meghan and Harry were moaning about that the Royal family never had their backs?

Question: What if this article had been published about a transwoman? I can lose my job for saying I don't think biological males can change sex but he can write this about Meghan.

How about the whole article is re written about how he hates transwomen at a cellular level, worse than rose west, and wants them stripped naked and pelted with shit.

Any police ready to engage now?

XanaduKira · 20/12/2022 17:37

I know @Malariahilaria It's ridiculous that misogyny isn't a hate crime. Unbelievable!

lemmein · 20/12/2022 13:32

Not forgetting Camilla's bestie, and biographer Angela Levin who spends every waking moment spreading shit about Meghan on Twitter.

Yesterday she posted this...a grown woman 🙄

I know it's a few pages back but... that tweet by Angela Levin 😳bloody hell. It's almost mafia-esque in tone. She must very confident in her position with BP to be directing such comments at the Sussexes who are, after all, members of the Royal family.

Yep
She’s very confident.
Camilla and Charles are a disgrace. Shame on them

Camilla said nothing because her VAGW work is only pr for herself. She does not actually care about this stuff.

Unfortunately, I think you may be right,

@musingsinmidlife

Thanks for posting the full article.

It's utterly disgusting. The sun have a lot to answer and I'm glad it's received the highest number of complaints to the press ever in history.

LadyWithLapdog · 20/12/2022 23:33

Thanks for the full article. It’s even worse than the excerpt. So misogynistic.

I couldn't believe what I was reading the first time I saw it.

I was moved to complain as well. If the same article had been written about anyone else in the RF condemnation would have poured from all skies, including a statement from the RF. The fact that it's about the Duchess of Sussex, some are still trying to justify it. Says a lot about the UK.

musingsinmidlife · 21/12/2022 01:38

I have no love for the Sussexes, and little
for the RF however that article is horrible and should never have been written about anyone - man, woman or child. I know his thing is being controversial and this was supposed to be some humorous attempt at satire or something but it simply fails on every level. I have a pretty dark and twisted and satirical sense of humour and I don’t see the humour in it. How did no editor stop this? How did Clarkson not reread it and think he was way over any line one could call humour? Does he actually passionately hate them and if so why? Even if he is best friends with Camilla and she feels slighted by them, you don’t publicly write a hate piece. I feel I am missing something.

vera99 · 21/12/2022 02:33

By staying silent the RF have set a precedent, this will haunt them anytime they speak about DV, bullying, racism or women’s rights. The next time they release a statement condemning something they will be reminded of this. So stupid, mean and shortsighted. They will lose the younger generations completely.

LaBellina · 21/12/2022 02:35

I can not imagine that the RF or the general public would have been ok with the same article written about Kate instead of Meghan. So yes, I think it’s good that this particularly vile piece of misogyny has resurfaced again to get the outcry it deserves and I think Harry and Meghan have been proven right.

This. I honestly think it will be a turning point. Even if they release a statement now, a few days on, it will be as a result of public pressure and not because there was any genuine sense of outrage.

This situation is sickening. We can all see it for it is. Meghan was right.

StopThe · 21/12/2022 08:13

For the RF to stay silent on this is abhorrent

I agree, it's incredibly disappointing

SandyY2K · 21/12/2022 08:40

@Starseeking

The fact that it's about the Duchess of Sussex, some are still trying to justify it. Says a lot about the UK.

You're absolutely right.

Posts trying to justify it on here make me sick. I read on another thread, that when you say F off to the UK and the RF this is what you get. Disgraceful.

MM and Jeremy Clarkson's daughter have one thing in common...fathers who are an embarrassment. JC is hateful abd worsethan TM.

That he can put Rose West, a serial killer in the same sentence is unbelievable.

His insinuation that Meghan was offering something in the bedroom was overlooked, because the other stuff was vile... but it's out and out misogyny....

Yet people have implied that it's deserved.

This supports what they said in the Netflix programme. The hate from. The media...it's a smear campaign and is unacceptable. Totally outrageous.

I'm glad that this has brought the highest ever press complaints ever.

TizerorFizz · 21/12/2022 09:23

It really depends if you think a few journalists are “the media”. We do have censorship here but we also have press freedoms. We mostly err on the side of disagreeing with what people say/write but allow them to say it. That’s the issue with opinion pieces. When does it become offensive? What laws are broken? Newspapers have legal departments and make judgements about what to publish. We certainly think they get it wrong and it will be interesting to see if this goes to court. Should the editor resign? Should JC be sacked? Would he get work elsewhere? Definitely.

vera99 · 21/12/2022 09:46

One is beginning to understand why the Queen wanted to die in service and not abdicate early for her son. Let's not forget it took her years to even meet Camilla.

Morestrangethings · 21/12/2022 11:04

EmmaAgain22 · 20/12/2022 08:36

Obviously my view of Clarkson and the gutter press are clear

you do realise the column was printed after this lunch event?

Yes, but Clarkson wrote an earlier ranting article about Meghan in the Sun in late September. Not as vile as his latest one, but bad enough. Called Harry ‘**struck’ by Meghan, a two bit actress, and referred to ‘The unhinged pair,’ etc..

So, there was ‘earlier warning’ of Clarkson's attitude to both Harry and Meghan on at least one occasion. Many more examples of Piers Morgan’s attitude towards Meghan, obviously. So, one can’t help wonder why was the Queen at this occasion with these two malcontents?

Morestrangethings · 21/12/2022 11:19

musingsinmidlife · 20/12/2022 15:38

The King is supposed to put out an official statement everytime something negative or nasty is said in a tabloid?

I disagree that the role of the RF is to do so. There would be thousands of statements. Those tabloids thrive on headlines that are sensationalized to get views.

Meghan's own PR team hasn't even put out a statement.

Meghan's own PR team hasn't even put out a statement.

perhaps they are waiting for King Charles to officially condemn it, first. This is the RF’s chance to address violence directed at women, especially given that it was directed at a Prince’s wife.

As to ‘thousands of statements’ no, I don’t agree. This article was unflinchingly vile. I’ve not seen one like it before, let alone one directed at a Royal Family member, have you? If it’s not worth an official statement of condemnation of the article then there is something very wrong with the lot of them, imo.

ZeViteVitchofCwismas · 21/12/2022 11:28

It's just awful.
They suddenly seem very grubby.

It's all far to close to home.

Camilla at the party with pier's and now this. Very carless and sloppy.

ZeViteVitchofCwismas · 21/12/2022 11:30

Apparently the met police don't think violence is incited by this and it's an ethics thing

vera99 · 21/12/2022 11:30

The as ever brilliant Cold War Steve sums it up wonderfully....

Has Jeremy Clarkson just proved Harry and Meghan right?

Why would she wait for her FIL to say something first?

Meghan left the RF because she w aged her voice back. She’s got it. If she wants something said, she should be using the voice she fought for.

But really we have no idea what she wants - perhaps they want to ignore and joy the festive period with their children and have no expectations of anyone?

Well colour me shocked. The Met Police don’t value women? That is brand new information 🙄 what bollocks - if a woman can be arrested for tweeting that men can’t be women why can’t Clarkson for inciting hate

lemmein · 21/12/2022 11:59

Imagine if he'd called Prince Phillip/William/Charles 'cunt struck'? No, I can't imagine that either.

Meghan has been sufficiently dehumanised by these people that the drip-drip of misogynistic bile has been allowed to go unchecked till we reach this point, where a man can share his hate-fantasy of stripping her bare to publicly humiliate her and a national newspaper thought it was fine to print it, cos it's only Meghan. What a depressing place to be in 2022 - I swear we are going backwards.

Cunt struck? 🤮 She's his wife, the mother of his children - how fucking degrading to crudely reduce her to having little value other than what's between her legs. Depressing AF.
