This isn’t normal practice, they are buying other peoples work (who couldn’t get a distribution deal) and passing it off as a Meghan and Harry production in conjunction with the Nelson Mandela foundation.

They could have released it as a Nelson foundation project under archewell but are adding their own voices to it so it so they can claim ownership.

Good for them.

Supporting themselves.

Meh, people have to make a living.

I do hope it's Meghan doing most of the talking, she's rather bright and intelligent and well educated.

Harry on the other hand, is as dull as dishwater and as thick as two short planks academically.

He got a D in geography, and everyone knows geography a level is just colouring in and talking about populations. Could he not colour the sea in blue and the land in green on a map 🤣

Well someone who is too lazy to do any research on her future family and role and on her husbands background doesn’t sound too switched on to me. She sounds pretty ignorant not to know how to curtsy or how to learn the national anthem. A former actress too. Learning lines shouldn’t have been so hard really.

So what if they 'stuck their name on it'. What do detractors of H&M actually want?

They are accused of taking money from Charles back in the OW interview yet when they are making their own way, their own money, that is wrong too?

I've said it for years... they can't do anything right. Ever. It's getting so see through now, and I see it.

So what if they 'stuck their name on it'. What do detractors of H&M actually want?

I said there was nothing wrong with that.
I just buy and retail. Nothing wrong with that.

Jeez Louise, even when you agree with what they've done, you get jumped on.

Walnutwhipsarenothesame · 28/12/2022 09:41

Making their own money from trading on their Royal connections and selling out his family for profit .They despise the RF yet are glad to use them to trade off . There are different ways to make a living. Whining, carping, playing the victim and using privileges they didn’t earn and openly denigrate to raise their profile. Not much to admire really.

I apologise. I should've addressed it to posters in general who are saying they shouldn't be doing this.

"I do find it rather, odd I guess, that so many people complain that the royals live off tax payer money. Then when they do find jobs, those same people seem to complain about that."
very true. whatever they do it will never be ok, people with empty lives have to have someone to moan about.

Ohnonevermind · 28/12/2022 09:55

I’d rather see the people who actually do the work get the credit for it, rather than the Sussex’s inserting themselves into someone else’s work ?

Its like passing off other people’s anecdotes as your own

Maybe drop them a line and tell them how you would like them to present it. I am under no illusion that they produced this all themselves, they didn't. However, they were asked to be the voice over, and that they are doing. Every single place I look it says it is produced by Blackwell&Ruth.

And this is on all media I read
Live to Lead is produced by Blackwell & Ruth in association with The Nelson Mandela Foundation, the Sussexes' production company, Archewell, and Cinetic Media

Except the people who made it will get a credit, the writers, directors, producers etc. H and M are described as exec producers, which is fair enough and not stealing credit at all.

They saw the value in the production, invested and added their names to the project, increasing its profile by masses- as evidenced by this thread.

bakalava · 28/12/2022 10:19

Going by her entire showreel and The Bench, creative genius is, ahem, lacking so this is the only way available to them.
Unless they have purchased these rights with monopoly money then absolutely, it is all financed by the royal/aristocratic inheritance of Harry and nothing to do with standing on their own two feet.
Philanthropy in the US is obviously all about robbing Peter to pay Paul and an ageing circuit of mainly talentless nepokids and has-beens scratching one another's backs and congratulating one another on fake awards.

Roussette · 28/12/2022 10:36

bakalava it might really hurt you if it's a well received series, I'd brace yourself for that maybe.

bakalava · 28/12/2022 10:43

Hurt? I doubt it.
It should be well received because they haven't had much to do with it.

Yes, which is what is evident from the announcement about it. Their names were added to it. Which will probably make it successful maybe. Here's hoping, because there are some brilliant people featured in it.

BethJ62 · 28/12/2022 11:14

I agree that there are some brilliant people in the series which makes me wonder why it hasn’t been picked up before now ?

CathyorClaire · 28/12/2022 11:25

This begs the question of why a distribution deal wasn't forthcoming.

A very wicked, going-to- hell part of me can't help wondering if they've bought a turkey...

Coronateachingagain · 28/12/2022 12:21

onlylarkin · 28/12/2022 03:36

Also, they never called it their own work. Even in the NMF news release, it was said they were partnering with Blackwell & Ruth and the Nelson Mandela Foundation. At no point did H & M claim this was their own work. Not one time.

That's not the point. Of course they would not call it their own work, it isn't!

MarshaMelrose · 28/12/2022 12:30

A very wicked, going-to- hell part of me can't help wondering if they've bought a turkey...

There's no turkey because by buying it, Harry got to speak at the UN. That adds to Harry's CV.

Although I do wonder who the MF tried to sell it to and who turned it down. I think it will be successful because people are excited by the couple, whether for good or for bad, so I'm sure it will be another hit for Netflix.

vera99 · 28/12/2022 12:46

If it annoys the royalists I'll watch them painting a wall at half speed in black and white whilst standing naked in the freezing rain throwing excrement at anyone who come near . Haters gonna hate.....

“Cry 'God for Harry, Meghan, and Saint George!'

bakalava · 28/12/2022 13:17

I do wonder if it's a turkey. They haven't exactly demonstrated good decision making during their relationship. The people featured are impressive but there is plenty of information available about them online and in books without the need for trite, self-centered teachable moments being woven into their stories at five minute intervals.

I'm all for families with young kids making their way but not to finance an indulgent lifestyle which neither has done anything to deserve or at the expense of talented people in the arts (LA is saturated with them and they may also have young families).

He did - to an almost empty room !

BethJ62 · 28/12/2022 14:06

@bakalava I agree . I am wondering what else there is to say about Mandela etc

Ohnonevermind · 28/12/2022 14:13

i see that on IMDB Meghan and Harry are leading the credit order and Geoff Blackwell and has been demoted from director/producer to an executive producer like them.

Oh the things money can buy.

I didn't know that Harry gave his bought UN speech to an almost empty room but then I can see why it can be as a good opportunity in the schedule for a coffee break.
