Oh dear...

It doesn’t even make sense. Why would they want to meet and get an apology when the book is coming out?

It can’t all be ‘ok let’s put it to bed and you say sorry’ from H&M, then release the book called ‘Spare’.

I call bullshit.

fairgame84 · 17/12/2022 20:59

I thought H was too traumatised from the last summit?

MarshaMelrose · 17/12/2022 21:01

Charles' response...

A senior Palace source told The Times: “If they want to get in touch with the King, they know where he lives" 😁

Hbh17 · 17/12/2022 21:02

FFS. An apology for what?
If anyone needs to apologise it is H&M, or the atrocious way they have treated the King, the Prince of Wales and various staff members. Most of all they need to apologise for the slurs they have cast on the memory of the late Queen.
And then they can get on with their lives in peace and hopefully Harry can get some proper help to deal with his anger and distress.

And as always, stupid people fall for it

Ah, so you agree that they shouldn't be demanding a meeting with Charles or an apology?

What's that got to do with my post?

I don't believe this stupid article and whoever wrote this is no journalist.
Until I hear from either Harry or Meghan that they want a summit, then I'll listen

The fact that you have read and believe this article and the so called "sources", is on you.

MichelleScarn · 17/12/2022 21:02

"It can be revealed today that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex want to “sit down with the royal family” for a meeting to address their “issues” after their damning six-hour Netflix series, which involved relentless criticism of the monarchy."

Do you think H&M would want this to be on camera? Can imagine the rest of the family would want a sweep of the rooms and people for hidden cameras and mics!

susan12345678 · 17/12/2022 21:02

Well, the article says there's much worse to come in the book. They reportedly had second thoughts about it after HMQ's funeral, but the publishers wouldn't let them make drastic changes.

Perhaps they are demanding the apology/meeting now while they still can - once the book is released, there will be no such hope.

“It is like living through a soap opera where everyone else views you as entertainment,” the Duke of Sussex said about life in the royal family. Did he actually say this? Surely no one is this unaware of the consequences of their behaviour?

Your post suggests you don't agree that demanding a meeting and an apology is something they should be doing at this stage? Otherwise, you would presumably be responding differently?

WinnieTheW0rm · 17/12/2022 21:06

This bit's quite damning.

Even the American TV news anchor, Gayle King, a close friend of the Sussexes, agrees with the approach: “That would seem the right tack to take from the Palace, just have no comment,” she said on her morning show last week

Also, it hadn't occurred to be that they were 'blaming' Charles/William, because it was to hurtful to face the fact that it was HMQ who made the choices.

And that would be the only reason for the summit, wouldn't it? To see if they can get a changed decision. But they need it to to be something that they can ascribe to Charles or William changing their mind. Not the late Queen's decision, that is likely to be upheld

Presumably a quote from Netflix

I don’t know, I don’t understand all the vitriol. Why are people determined to be so critical of people they’ve never met? I suspect the truth is somewhere in the middle and neither side has behaved impeccably and everyone involved has had damaging family relationships and press intrusion that means they struggle to function as emotionally well rounded people.

Not much point in an apology (which would also be an admission of wrong doing) for the the RF to back track days later. The book comes out next month.

I don’t think H&M are daft enough to think this could happen with the book coming out.

My opinion is that, the content of that article is made up.

JustAnotherManicNameChange · 17/12/2022 21:10

That article is not biased at all. Nope not even a little bit.Grin

I'm not sure the Royal family has any issues - I think that the new King was very clear in his first speech after the death of ER II

"I want also to express my love for Harry and Meghan as they continue to build their lives overseas"

I think that sends a pretty clear signal

whynotwhatknot · 17/12/2022 21:14

jesus christ read the room

theyre so unaware arent they

“It is like living through a soap opera where everyone else views you as entertainment,”

If he actually said this it’s f’ing hilarious! He’s totally lost the plot!

Sandra1984 · 17/12/2022 21:19

Knowing that the Times is very English establishment and pro-monarchy I would take the article with a pinch of salt. the sources of the article are "a friend of harry said", "a friend of the King said" and a "friend of the royal family said". After following the media headlines I can see the royal family PR machine has been working full time the last two weeks. In the meanwhile Netflix is cashing in big bucks as this has been their most viewed and popular documentary. I'm not English but this couple have given their middle finger to the English establishment (being the monarchy one of it's biggest pillars) so I can understand why English people are pissed off at them. Personally I can give a rats ass what this couple is up to.

VivienneDelacroix · 17/12/2022 21:21

All of this just goes to show what we already know:
-Children need normal lives and the way children near the top of the RF are brought up has lasting damage.

  • Hurt people hurt people - especially when there is a generational pattern.
  • Monarchy puts the institution before individuals and no one can possibly come out of that unscathed.

They are all products of the bizarre situation they were born into and the kindest thing to do would be to stop it all.

In the 5th episode, re the commonwealth service in 2020, their last official engagement....

Harry said: “We were nervous about seeing the family because of all the TV cameras, and everybody watching at home, and everybody watching in the audience. And it’s like living through a soap opera, where everybody else uses you as entertainment.

BethJ62 · 17/12/2022 21:23

I don’t understand the relevance of the Coronation . Surely no one is expecting them to attend ?

My post suggests nothing of the sort.

My post outright states anyone who believes the waffle written in this article, lacks any critical thinking.

You've fallen for the "Sources said.." and "Friends said...." and think it's true.

hay5689 · 17/12/2022 21:27

There's not going to be any sort of "sit down". The Royal Family are not stupid and won't give them storylines for a season 2 Netflix show. No response is a powerful response because they are not giving them any new "revelations".
