He was still qualified .

He tried to pass the helicopter exam about four times and he couldn't get through it at all so he went for the co-pilot.

Then he decided to change to the army.

RosettaStormer · 18/12/2022 18:14

I thought he’d passed the tests .

"Prince Harry has become a fully operational Apache Attack Helicopter Pilot after successfully completing 18 months of intensive training. The Prince was last night (Wednesday) awarded the prize for being best Co-Pilot Gunner during a dinner to mark the end of the course.
The Prince has now attained Limited Combat Ready status, and will be assigned to 662 Squadron, 3 Regiment Army Air Corps within 16 Air Assault Brigade, where he will gain wider experience flying Apaches and take part in exercises in the United Kingdom."

@AskingQuestionsAllTheTime those are good points, thank you for making them.

Ps what's lollygagging??

Lollygag means waste time by fooling around, or dawdle and not get on with what you are meant to be doing. I could have said scrimshanking – which is an army word for avoiding duty or work by whatever means – but I thought that might be a little unfair: he may not have done it on purpose, and scrimshanking is definitely deliberate.

RosettaStormer · 18/12/2022 18:22

Actually thinking about it I think he’s always felt inferior to William.
William was more able, better looking, found a wonderful gf who stuck by him. He was his mothers confidante. William was able to have his career of choice for years and live away from the limelight. He got a better choice of houses. William was never in trouble when young as Harry was.

I think he saw Meghan as an amazing prize and he couldn’t believe his luck. Then she started to feed his paranoia and sense of inferiority and he became angry and aggrieved. When his prize wasn’t thought to be as great as first believed by the family and public, he took it personally.

He’s out for recompense for everything he feels he didn’t get.

RosettaStormer · 18/12/2022 18:22

I believe that Harrys fellow soldiers thought he was great . I don’t think he was lazy.

antelopevalley · 18/12/2022 18:28

I think William was the better-looking brother when young, but Harry clearly is now. He grew into his looks.

PumpkinPooSpice · 18/12/2022 18:00

Or maybe terrified by what it meant rather than the actual screaming? Like that his family was wrecked and he'd have no help or support from his family/employers. He's obviously not worried William is going to beat him up. He's a trained soldier what with being the only one in the RF to have ever had a real job. Well, besides his wife.

Prince Andrew is a trained pilot who fought in The Falklands. Isn't that a proper job?

JustAnotherManicNameChange · 18/12/2022 18:30

@rumship is this your "source"?

Labour MP Emma Dent Coad, who has called into question his military record. The politician made headlines this week when she alleged that Harry had failed his Army helicopter pilot exams, while speaking at a meeting called Reigning in the Monarchy. She was quoted as saying: "Harry can't actually fly a helicopter… He tried to pass the helicopter exam about four times and he couldn't get through it at all so he always goes for the co-pilot."

Ms Dent Coad has since defended her comments, telling the BBCBC^* that her remarks are "an absolute fact", but adding that she cannot prove it.

I think it’s turning again. I think as young teens W was the better looking, then when he went balding H seemed a lot more youthful, also more happy go lucky, and was the more attractive one.

I think lately though H balding has become more apparent and he looks a lot more disheveled.

W looks attractive, (but only when he wears a hat)

antelopevalley · 18/12/2022 18:32

The Royal Family website says Harry is a trained helicopter pilot. So is the official Royal Family website lying?

Ohnonevermind · 18/12/2022 18:52

he failed the RAF pilot exams three times so moved to the army.

he did helicopter training in the army and is now qualified to go ‘vroom vroom’ when the helicopter takes off

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 18/12/2022 19:02

He started out at Sandhurst for a year, so surely he must have gone into the army first. If he had been training to be an officer in the RAF wouldn't he have gone to Cranwell?

(Did he have time to take and fail the RAF exams three times? He was accepted for Sandhurst in September 2004 when he was just twenty and had finished his gap year, which he took in Australia and Lesotho.)

Ohnonevermind · 18/12/2022 19:07

That shows the timeline of his first fail. He was also doing training due to racially abusing his colleagues so a busy bee

Why so spiteful? You're all over these threads with your jabs. Seems an odd way to spend one's time.

JustAnotherManicNameChange · 18/12/2022 19:20

So he failed once during his first two weeks in the training program? Any others or confirmation he didn't ever qualify despite the Royals and ex servicemen and women saying he did?

JubileeTrifle · 18/12/2022 19:22

@PumpkinPooSpice his children will have security for school. I imagine the kids of schools their children go to will have security on site as well for all the children.

Im sad when they talk about the press turning against Meghan they don’t mention Diana/Fergie. There was definitely an attempt to turn them against each other and make Fergie the ‘baddie’. So much of all this is history repeating itself.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 18/12/2022 19:50

So he went to Sandhurst in 2005 and did pilot training in 2012. That sounds more likely than his having tried for the RAF first and then moved to the army.

Ohnonevermind · 18/12/2022 20:13

@Aspiringmatriarch

the vroom vroom was from Emma Cooke Labour MP. Perhaps you should take it up with her ?

Ohnonevermind · 18/12/2022 20:14

Apologies Emma Dent Coad @Aspiringmatriarch

Harry's the only one to have had a job??
Seriously??
His brother William worked full time and then part time as an air ambulance helicopter pilot. I'd say that was a "real job".
His Uncle Andrew was in the Navy for years as was his grandfather.
Catherine worked with her parents firm.

mpsw · 18/12/2022 20:38

He did 10 years in the Army.

Rather less than the Duke of York's 22 years in the Navy (which also included flying helicopters in a war zone)

This is what the Royal website says. I don't care if Harry is qualified to fly a helicopter or not. I am interested in all the suggestions that he can't as that means the Royal website is lying.

"Prince Harry has become a fully operational Apache Attack Helicopter Pilot after successfully completing 18 months of intensive training. The Prince was last night (Wednesday) awarded the prize for being best Co-Pilot Gunner during a dinner to mark the end of the course.
