Lovely picture of them both too. Seems so rare to see a positive news story these days so this was good to see! Peace, reconciliation and understanding. 😊

If only Lady SH had listened when NF told her she was British, none of this would have happened.Xmas Wink

fallfallfall · 18/12/2022 02:14

interesting how much info is out there about nf ancestry when she's from hackney.
the racial situation in the uk is rather unique and being mn is an international platform as is twitter you get a real mix of views on what constitutes racist remarks. joe biden claims irish ancestry from circa 150 years ago, most canadian happy to declare their european ancestry from 250 years ago and i'd be shocked if ausie wasn't similar. but what is different is n/a and aussie most are caucasian.
so being repeatedly asked where are you from might not cause any long standing hard feelings.
lsh apologizing is classy, but like other's i don't think her questions were racist.

Could you please provide a source for your 'fact'

Also if you could explain how you know exactly what languages she does or doesn't speak that would be amazing...

You do seem very sure of facts you can't possibly know

She says she isn’t African and that she doesn’t know what part of Africa her ancestors are from. She makes no claims to speak any African languages. It was you who made claims about people in the Caribbean speaking igbo - that’s not something nf claims that she does.

You’ve clearly missed the deleted post and the Lady Susan like denials of people who won’t accept Ngozi is British and of African heritage.

Lol - yeah right. You’ve been arguing with me that she’s African and how dare I say otherwise! You can’t have it both ways.

Also that quote was in relation to the twitter thread about charity fraud that @Ohtheweatheroutsideistoocold claimed was “racist and misogynistic and victim blaming.” I don’t believe there is any evidence of any of that.

You should be worried if you don't know you can't ask someone about their race or ethnicity. It's only relevant in medical situations. If someone wants to tell you it's up to them, you are not entitled to have your curiosity satisfied nor is it polite conversation. As for touching her hair, absolutely unacceptable.

I know. But you don't believe in evidence, full stop @SueVineer.🙈

SueVineer · 18/12/2022 02:27

TooBigForMyBoots · 18/12/2022 01:53

It is true. The fact that you don't believe it, despite the overwhelming evidence, demonstrates that your judgement isn't to be trusted.

You refuse to acknowledge racism, even when it was witnessed, investigated, confirmed and apologies given.Xmas Confused So it's not exactly a surprise that you don't see the racism and misogyny in thon fucktwit's rantings.

As I said, you have quite the blind spot @SueVineer.

What overwhelming evidence of racism is there in the twitter thread? It looks pretty factual to me.

it’s pretty vile to use a dv charity to defraud funds from the taxpayer. There should be a full investigation as there is good evidence something very dodgy is going on just from public documents.

The twitter thread does yes. It extensively refers to publicly available official documents.

fallfallfall · 18/12/2022 02:31

@Coucous @RedAndBlueStripedGolfingUmbrella i can tell you that the photo of justin trudeau dressed in traditional indian attire is often posted along comments of how stupid he is. his version was not an appropriate look who ever advised him on this made a huge faux pas.

RedAndBlueStripedGolfingUmbrella · 18/12/2022 02:33

Jeeeeeezus just reading the whole thread and some are showing their whole racist arse, aren't they?!
How is it allowed to stand? It's sickening.

And again, why does innocent until proven guilty not apply to a charity run by black women, only comments made by rich white women?

Ohtheweatheroutsideistoocold · 18/12/2022 02:39

SueVineer · 18/12/2022 02:09

No one said she doesn’t have African heritage. We said she isn’t African. Because she isn’t.

as I said I have African heritage. Many people do. Doesn’t mean they are African.

Right so she has African heritage but you are still accusing her of cultural appropriation?

So basically if someone is British they are no longer allowed to wear something from their heritage?

I'm guess you also have issues with people wearing saris or a Cheongsam the?

Out of interest which traditionally British clothing should she have worn if she is not allowed to embrace her heritage?

fallfallfall · 18/12/2022 02:44

@Ohtheweatheroutsideistoocold if she is dressing to embrace her heritage then shouldn't she have been ready to discuss her heritage?

Asking someone where they are from amd then implying they aren't British isn't discussing their heritage it's discussing their nationalty

I'm pretty sure if someone had come up and asked her why she set up a DV charity for the specific group of people she did she would have been more than happy to discuss her heritage as she has done in previous interviews

No she shouldn't. She was there in the context of her charity.

fallfallfall · 18/12/2022 02:44

@Ohtheweatheroutsideistoocold if she is dressing to embrace her heritage then shouldn't she have been ready to discuss her heritage?

Actually I have a fuller answer to that than my previous one

  1. People who dress in a way that's not considered 'British' do not owe anyone an explanation of their heritage. if they choose to share it then fine, but they don't owe anyone anything
  1. The idea that you can pitch up to any black women in an animal print dress and demand to know where their ancestors are from simply based on the clothes they are wearing is actually quite disturbing
  1. If you do start demanding to know where someone's ancestors are from, and they say they dont know where in Africa, because there were no records kept, that's usually a good time to stop asking questions, not to keep digging
  1. If you meet someone who set up a domestic violence charity and the only thing you can think to ask them is 'where did your people come from' then that's very disappointing. There are far more interesting questions you can ask.
  1. Even if someone is normally ready to discuss their heritage, it doesn't mean they should be ready to discuss it all the time on any occasion with anybody. That's not how conversation works
  1. Ngozi may have been willing to discuss her heritage right up until someone invaded her personal space and started touching her hair. In that instance she may have felt uncomfortable, or vulnerable and therefore might not have been as up for a derailed discussion on exactly where her ancestors came from.
  1. The idea that someone is only allowed to embrace their heritage if they are willing to discuss it with any random person who starts asking impertinent questions is again quite disturbing.
greenteafiend · 18/12/2022 04:12

I think it's possible to think that repeatedly questioning someone about the same thing (and grabbing someone's hair) is extremely rude, AND to feel that potential fraud in the charity sector should be investigated. I'm familiar with the "James" on Twitter who posted the investigative thread: he's pretty sound and the thread was calm and balanced in its tone. Let's wait to see whether there is anything in it.

In the meantime, hopefully people at the palace will have got the memo that if someone says "I'm from the UK," maybe leave it at that and give it a rest?

Namaste6 · 18/12/2022 04:23

@Mezmer 100% agree.
