Lovely picture of them both too. Seems so rare to see a positive news story these days so this was good to see! Peace, reconciliation and understanding. 😊

That Twitter man does like the sound of his own ramblings, doesn’t he? Eight tweets before he even starts to approach getting to the point.

Was the man bit important to you?

musingsinmidlife · 16/12/2022 23:39

Here are the direct links to the twitter pages. The guy is pretty much just rambling as he looks into their documents and grants. It is his own opinion and nothing official but he is passing it on to be properly investigated as he saw what to him looks like fraud, nepotism, and lots of sketchy actions. If all is above board, then it is just the ramblings of a random man. If the commission finds what he thinks he has found, then he has identified a business that should be shut down.

Welllllll not really just ' a business that should be shut down' its a bit more than that. Have you seen the grant amounts? If true then thats fraud... Its also far from ramblings- he makes a perfectly good audit case across several key areas. Dont discredit his work maybe given that he did a lot of research. Seems to be a family propensity for changing names too which is erm...quirky...

TooBigForMyBoots · 17/12/2022 00:42

The Palace asked Lady SH what happened and she admitted it. That's why yhe investigation was so quick snd the initial Palace statement so strong.

I can't believe that people are still denying that this happened.🤯

Man writes Twitter thread; Mumsnetter comments on man’s Twitter thread. Would you prefer all references to it be gender-neutral? Because that’s… weird.

They both look really uncomfortable in that photo. Their knees are crossed away from each other and they're sitting slightly inclined away from each other.

"next time it could be you."

It wouldn't be though because I'd have no reason to ask that question and more importantly I know better. As should a working public servant who meets people from a variety of backgrounds on a regular basis as a representative.

It isn't race baiting to call someone out on bad behaviour publicly if they are a public figure and the behaviour happens in a public forum. It's that life lesson where if you behave badly and hurt someone you don't get to then demand how that person calls you out, who they tell or if they decide to forgive you - suggesting otherwise is dangerous, damaging and allows things to be swept under the rug when they shouldn't be. It's not an unfair trial to state that she was made feel uncomfortable by factually relayed comments made in front of others which Hussy has to be fair accepted and apologised for.

Being overtly racist at a work function?

hasn’t been me so far, no.

The ‘camp’ that you’re in is a racist one. I understand why you feel concerned about the possibility of racist behaviour having consequences.

Coyoacan · 17/12/2022 03:24

I’m on Gransnet more than I’m on here, and the original incident of Lady SH’s behaviour towards NF didn’t half bring out the racists over there. Some absolutely appalling attitudes and comments.

A fair bit of racism on here too. A woman was invited to the Palace, was repeatedly desbelieved when asked where she was from, the person who desbelieved it acknowledged that that was what happened, and people are still convinced that the victim was a bad 'un.

And if there is something wrong with the charity she represents, what on earth is happening at the Charity Commission and Buckingham Palace that they didn't identify that before inviting her.

charities apply for and receive grants, so what? there are literally jobs out there for people to quite grant applications because it's how all charities survive.

As for your comment about names. If you don't understand why people with African heritage across the world sometimes feel the need to change their name then you lack empathy and a compassion.

Besides which, NF has changed her name once. Most of the issues that twitter thread are on about are moaning about the equivalent of someone calling themselves Elizabeth, Eliza, Liz on different bits of paperwork

When I worked in financial services we had to write code to fuzzy match peoples names aka find details that were similar to pull out and assess if it was the same person, because of the amount of times people would phone up and give a different variation of their name. One person I remember had given us 16 variations of their name. Not because they were suspicious or fraudulent but just because their name had lots of potential variations. Its totally normal

Imagine the amount of effort involved in investigating the full details of every single person and every organisation they are connected to who is invited to a Royal event. That's a ridiculous suggestion.

World has gone crazy ! I am speaking as a person whose father originated from another country, he did not get offended when someone asked him his heritage even though he was a British citizen.

Ohtheweatheroutsideistoocold · 17/12/2022 09:03

All it would take is to make a slip up or a badly timed joke and you’ve lost your job, your dignity and friends.

If you find yourself constantly on the edge of making racist comments or jokes I'm not sure how much dignity you can be said to have

Me I've never been close to losing my job, my friends or my dignity through racist remarks. I find then surprisingly easy to avoid funnily enough

How on god’s good earth is this whole thread “disgusting”? My OP is not “disgusting” (and if you think it is then maybe you need to look up what the word means).

And I looked up the word @Mezmer used that you took offence to. I wasn’t sure about it either, but I am also a believer in fair trial. The word “lynched”, according to the dictionary:

lynch
/lɪn(t)ʃ/

verb
past tense: lynched; past participle: lynched
1.
(of a group of people) kill (someone) for an alleged offence without a legal trial, especially by hanging.
"her father had been lynched for a crime he didn't commit"
INFORMAL
severely criticize or condemn (someone).

If someone can please explain why it’s not racist for someone born and bred in south London to culturally appropriate by dressing up in African clothing and changing her name then please crack on.

You need someone to explain to you how someone with African heritage isn't being culturally appropriative by wearing 'African clothing' ? Really?

(oh please do explain what african clothing is, does the entire continent wear the same clothes!)

You should be embarrassed to ask such a question. Have you heard of the Atlantic slave trade? Maybe go and read a book, and educate yourself. Or crack on, sounding so ignorant.

I agree with this. I hate this trend for social media 'shaming' before or instead of actually raising it with the organisation or business concerned to address an issue/request an outcome

Of course the public shaming has now turned on her, again inappropriate.

Rather than stick her gripes on twitter she should have raised it with the people organising the event or the woman herself and said 'is anyone aware of how this presented to me and what that means in terms of people's identity ', did she give them the chance to learn and grow and put it right?

She has African heritage. But Ngozi is a British woman, born and raised here. Just as much as any white British woman, or any British Asian woman. We are all British. A privileged old lady who doesn’t understand this has no place representing the crown with members of the public. Her clear implication was that black people, even if born here, aren’t really British. Which is racist, ignorant and demeaning. I’m not sure what part of that some people still aren’t getting.
