Oh, the Netflix fantasy. That’s no documentary.

wishingyouwell · 17/12/2022 22:35

@Capri3 She's not damned if she does because the point is, she doesn't and never has. Using her children is an excuse that doesn't wash. Tax paying working mothers are also funding her lifestyle, she needs to remember this but entitled people tend not to.
In the years before having children the engagement stats are clear about how much she was wasn't doing also. Prior to marriage she wasn't doing anything either but as that wasn't at the taxpayer's expense that's her choice but just an indication of her attitude to work.

Coxspurplepippin · 17/12/2022 22:53

You do realise she doesn't receive anything from the sovereign grant.

Serenster · 17/12/2022 22:58

There is no early childhood centre though. She has early years meetings every so often. And there was a six-question survey.

Must have missed this…

I wasn’t aware you’d been appointed the sole arbiter of what amounts to a documentary or not. As soon as you post your official credentials to confirm your new post, I will of course fully accept your claim.

It’s an opinion. 🤷‍♀️

Nousernamesleftatall · 17/12/2022 23:04

i don't get the fawning over Kate as much as I don't get the hate for Meghan. I think the Royal family are pointless and are no different to you and me.

Talia99 · 17/12/2022 23:09

Blossomtoes · 17/12/2022 23:03

That you presented as a fact. After spending most of this thread
complaining about what you say is H & M doing the same. The word hypocrite springs to mind.

PicturesOfDogs · 17/12/2022 23:17

To be fair, it wasn’t really a ‘documentary’
A documentary tends to be based in facts, shows opposing views etc.
This was just a show where they expressed their opinion on certain events, it wasn’t balanced

antelopevalley · 17/12/2022 23:19

Documentaries usually present a certain view.

HerReputationMadeItDifficultToProceed · 17/12/2022 23:26

Kate is good at the job inasmuch as she looks neat and safe and wholesome and never really speaks. But it is a job. If you think that she and William are a genuine love-match or that he hasn't done the dirty on her (where have those rumours come from?) then you're turning as blind an eye as Kate is. She's the definition of beige, human wallpaper, and she will never complain and never explain- which is why William married her (after years of clearly not treating her that well). But I'm not sure that'a what a 21st century society want; it certainly isn't what I want. What good is a queen who never speaks unless it's scripted, is treated poorly by her clearly arrogant and entitled spouse and whose only function is as a glorified coat rack to show off British designers? Give me Meghan and Harry, warts and all, over the charade that is the Wales' and their marriage.

Blossomtoes · 17/12/2022 23:26

antelopevalley · 17/12/2022 23:19

Documentaries usually present a certain view.

They usually present both sides.

Incidentally @Talia99 I haven’t mentioned the Sussexes, you clearly have me mixed up with another poster.

Ohnonevermind · 17/12/2022 23:26

It was a propaganda piece, light entertainment.

antelopevalley · 17/12/2022 23:27

Not true. David Attenborough documentaries do not present climate denier activists as the other side. They present a certain view.

LydiaBennetsUglyBonnet · 17/12/2022 23:28

Oh for crying out loud. What was she supposed to do at an official engagement. Do a Daily Mail sad face whilst pointing at a picture of Meghan?

😂

2bazookas · 17/12/2022 23:41

Kate and William knew each other for a decade before they got engaged. They'd lived together, she'd been subjected to years of media pestering. She knew what media hysteria surrounded Diana. She had also watched decades of how Camilla rode the storm and survived.

Kate went into her marriage and the royal family with her eyes wide open, knowing the score, and she'd seen two polar opposite examples of how to handle it, from Diana and Camilla, She knew what to expect, what was expected of her, and what not to do.

   Meghan didn't and still doesn't.
wishingyouwell · 18/12/2022 00:05

Her work ethic is shocking.
She doesn't do what is expected of her. Shockingly low on engagements pre and post children. Entitled and lazy.

Ohnonevermind · 18/12/2022 00:07

@wishingyouwell

Most people disagree with your opinion. She’s very popular.

Blossomtoes · 18/12/2022 00:11

@wishingyouwell

Most people disagree with your opinion. She’s very popular.

That’s because most people understand that the work she does quietly and diligently is far more valuable than making public appearances. She’s the second most popular member of the royal family with an almost 70% approval rating so she must be getting something right.

By the way @wishingyouwell, what do you do with your exemplary work ethic?

PicturesOfDogs · 18/12/2022 00:11

antelopevalley · 17/12/2022 23:27

Not true. David Attenborough documentaries do not present climate denier activists as the other side. They present a certain view.

Yes, but they also show footage of the things he’s talking about.
Not just him and his friends discussing them.

It was a puff piece giving half a story.

Eg. The court case. Much made of JN working for W, and not needing to provide evidence, but doing it on W’s instruction.
Nothing made of the fact his evidence proved she lied to a court of law, and he submitted it once he realised she had lied

I thought they valued ‘truth’ but seems like it’s only if it’s ‘their truth’

antelopevalley · 18/12/2022 00:12

It is presenting their point of view. It is still a documentary.

antelopevalley · 18/12/2022 00:13

Or do you not think the Royal Family documentary showing the Royal Family at home was also a documentary? It was also presenting their own view point.

MaulPerton · 18/12/2022 00:14

Give me Meghan and Harry, warts and all

What good has speaking out done them? Some situations in life require speaking out while others don't. Feminism does not require women to always speak out.

Ohnonevermind · 18/12/2022 00:15

Documentaries usually contain facts with some basis in reality. This is more akin to propaganda
