someone as impressive as the Princess of Wales, who juggles parenthood

She has a nanny/ies. She's not dropping her kids off at breakfast club then having to rush back from an engagement to get them from a childminder on time. She's not worrying about how to cover school holidays or inset days. I'm sure she's a lovely mum but she doesn't have the logistical/financial concerns that ordinary working mums have so please don't patronise us

kc431 · 17/12/2022 21:10

I’m sorry, utter bollocks. Decade of work? She turns up to engagements and smiles. She doesn’t have to sit in an office 9-6 or do manual labour or mop up shit in a hospital for 13 hour shifts. And juggling parenthood with the odd royal engagement? Millions juggle parenthood, full time jobs, crises and financial difficulties with 0 help! She has STAFF. If you genuinely think this woman is someone to look up to then the Royal PR machine have done a number on you 😂

Blossomtoes · 17/12/2022 21:14

Yes @kc431 a decade of work. Seriously I’d be really embarrassed to be so ignorant if I were you.

antelopevalley · 17/12/2022 21:14

@Blossomtoes What work?

wishingyouwell · 17/12/2022 21:18

Ridiculous to equate hard work with Kate. William and Kate were consistently the much lower ranking Royals in terms of engagements attended despite their positions and the fact that they were much younger and of working age. Anne on the other hand well into her 70s and clearly has a strong work ethic.

Unfortunately Kate is lazy, entitled and doesn't have the compassion that would compel her to have done more with her position and privilege. Anyone remember Diana's sister sitting in the royal box at the Wimbledon finals?! Never. Grasping.

There’s loads more but obviously an entire thread would still leave you sneering.

Coxspurplepippin · 17/12/2022 21:23

wishingyouwell I'm starting to think you're a plant from the inner circles of the royal family to make anti royalists look daft. Good job. Lady Jane Spencer attended Wimbledon with her sister Diana and sat in the royal box on numerous occasions.

wishingyouwell · 17/12/2022 21:23

@Blossomtoes the stats speak for themselves.
Check royal engagements from 2011 to date. Keep scrolling down and you will find Kate's name ranking very, very low.

She’s done a lot of real work. Why would you place her value on the number of engagements she does?

wishingyouwell · 17/12/2022 21:28

Thanks @cox was that before or after Lady Jane published a classy party book?!

SallyLockheart · 17/12/2022 21:30

Wishing. Perhaps you’ve forgotten but she has had three children in those years and always had difficult pregnancies. Do you begrudge William and Kate time to establish a good family unit? For all we know, the Queen may well have approved you that - after all she had always been very supportive of family.

wishingyouwell · 17/12/2022 21:31

@Blossomtoes Because the volume of work you do indicates your work ethic or lack of as is the case with Kate.

Not sure? Not sure why it's relevant to a claim that Diana's sister never attended Wimbledon and sat in the royal box. As a modus operandi making spurious statements and ignoring all evidence to the contrary isn't going to convince anyone - the old plop and run device 😁

Blossomtoes · 17/12/2022 21:33

But she’s done a lot of nationally recognised work on really important issues. As a pp says you’re really doing the anti monarchist cause no good at all.

Why wouldn't you?

So you’re saying that since Meghan did it too, it must show class? Bearing in mind there are multiple threads effectively saying ‘Meghan has no class, Kate is better’, I’m not sure that saying Kate and Meghan do exactly the same sort of things (showing up at vigils / memorials etc. with the press in tow) is the mic drop you think it is.

I do think you are right though - most of the complaints about Meghan (courts the press, does things for publicity with no follow through, tips off paps as to where she is to get ‘good’ pictures) absolutely do apply to Kate.

I think the difference was that for Kate it was nearby in London, and she also used to (in her single days) walk home after going out at night, so it felt personal to her. Whereas for Meghan it was in a totally different state, nothing to do with her personal circumstances, and she flew to/from there in a private plane.

wishingyouwell · 17/12/2022 21:48

If the taxpayer funds your lifestyle then yes it really does matter how many engagements you do as it indicates your work ethic, your commitment, your dedication to charitable causes and respect to those funding your lifestyle. It really does matter.
Whatever is thought of Anne, no-one can question her work ethic as the stats speak for themselves. She is a consistently hard working person. No argument.

theworldhas · 17/12/2022 22:02

I don’t know why anyone would hold up Kate as a role model. Which isn’t to say Meghan is some massive star either, because she isn’t. But seriously, what is their to admire about Kate? What did you decide to do when you were 18, as a bright, wealthy and privileged young person?
Well I decided to pursue the richest and most powerful guy in the country of course - so that I could marry into super crazy wealth and privilege and then spend the following decades keeping my mouth shut and smiling for the cameras… to her credit she plays the role well, but it’s hardly an inspirational path.

There’s always a reason why Kate and Meghan doing the same thing is praiseworthy for Kate and grounds for condemning Meghan, isn’t there.

That was covered in the documentary too.

Blossomtoes · 17/12/2022 22:06

What documentary?

antelopevalley · 17/12/2022 22:08

@Blossomtoes There is no early childhood centre though. She has early years meetings every so often. And there was a six-question survey.

I think Kate thinks she has done her job by having children, keeping silent, and smiling at events. And maybe she has. But don't try and make out she works hard. The facts do not support that.

Capri3 · 17/12/2022 22:22

Kate’s damned if she does and damned if she doesn’t. The late HMTQ was/has been massively criticised for not spending enough time with her children when they were young. Kate is more hands-on, but apparently that means she is lazy?

Also, being a working royal is a life long “career”. The Queen was still working aged 96, no retiring aged 67. If you’re going to do that, there’s no way you’re going to be working the British average of 37 hours per week.

Blossomtoes · 17/12/2022 22:25

There is no early childhood centre though.

So Harvard University, the LSE and Lord Hague are all lying then? Because they all seem to think there is - or perhaps it’s a mass hallucination.
