She has some seriously good tailoring.

antelopevalley · 18/12/2022 00:13

Or do you not think the Royal Family documentary showing the Royal Family at home was also a documentary? It was also presenting their own view point.

It was an embarrassing puff piece, widely regarded as one of the Duke of Edinburgh’s loopiest ideas and regretted almost the moment it was shown. Definitely not a documentary.

antelopevalley · 18/12/2022 00:17

@Blossomtoes At least you are consistent. It is called a documentary even now.

PicturesOfDogs · 18/12/2022 00:18

antelopevalley · 17/12/2022 23:19

Documentaries usually present a certain view.

Documentaries are factual.

This constructed reality show was their opinion.

antelopevalley · 18/12/2022 00:20

Nothing is totally factual. Everything comes with its own viewpoint.
That really is 101 of documentary making. No documentary maker would deny that.

wishingyouwell · 18/12/2022 00:23

Popularity doesn't equate to being good or having a good work ethic. Hitler was popular, what was he getting right?
She is getting the PR right via the Daily Mail to brainwash people who have less ability to question and think.
Princess Anne works quietly and diligently and clocks in consistently as one of the hardest working royals.

Kate is lazy, she has a very poor work ethic. There are lots of people who can't respect that and find it disrepectful and entitled.

My example about the court case shows this was not at all factual.
Its PR spin for them.
A shame you can’t see it, but there we go

Coxspurplepippin · 18/12/2022 00:24

I'm invoking Godwin.

antelopevalley · 18/12/2022 00:24

Kate always gets attacked for her work ethic but William is pretty much the same. Why is it always the women who are attacked?

wishingyouwell · 18/12/2022 00:25

William is very lazy also but this thread is about Kate.

LydiaBennetsUglyBonnet · 18/12/2022 00:25

Kate is lazy, she has a very poor work ethic.

Can you expand on this?

She had 119 engagements last year. That’s about 2.5 working days a week if you take into account a month’s holiday. Which is about the same as most mothers of 3 who work part time.

antelopevalley · 18/12/2022 00:27

@LydiaBennetsUglyBonnet She does not work 2.5 days a week. You must know that.

LydiaBennetsUglyBonnet · 18/12/2022 00:29

antelopevalley · 18/12/2022 00:27

The equivalent of.

Ive worked in the media covering royal engagements before and they are all day events by the time the Royals set off, travel, are briefed, met every man and his dog then go home.

What do you expect her to do? How many engagements a year is a good amount for a mother of 3?

antelopevalley · 18/12/2022 00:37

Latest engagements - they have had a busy time with 20 engagements. That does not translate into 20 days of work though. Generously it translates into seven days. Maximum she works is about 1 day a week.

I'm sure both William and Kate do plenty behind the scenes - the work isn't just public facing. William especially will have spent years learning the constitutional stuff, about the Commonwealth, parliament, church.

I think the Queen will have been very aware that they needed to establish themselves, their relationship, family and household, offices, staff, patronages, relationships with their chosen charities and areas of particular interest. Giving them time and space to grow into their roles following the drama surrounding Charles and Diana's very public difficulties seems like a good plan. Considering they will probably still be the public face of the monarchy into old age, a solid grounding must be a good thing, surely.

We've seen very recently what happens when people don't understand what the monarchy's all about....

antelopevalley · 18/12/2022 00:39

Every bit of work is logged including a phone call.

LydiaBennetsUglyBonnet · 18/12/2022 00:40

TBH @antelopevalley thats about the right amount of engagements I’d expect of them. How many do you think she should be doing?

antelopevalley · 18/12/2022 00:40

How long do Kate and William need to learn the role before they start to work like say Princess Anne does? How many decades?

Coxspurplepippin · 18/12/2022 00:41

Do you honestly think they just turn up as directed for an occasional banquet and the odd half hour engagement and that's it?

Yes good point their work does not begin and end at public engagements. They have a whole centuries old institution to keep alive and modernise, and like HMQ they do have a hand in the decisions and planning

antelopevalley · 18/12/2022 00:41

@LydiaBennetsUglyBonnet More than working one day a week if you want to call them hard working.
Personally I don't care how many engagements they do, I just want the monarchy abolished. But don't insult our intelligence by calling them hard working.

Princess Anne doesn’t have small children at home. She’s also not close enough in line to the throne to warrant being around for the more important discussions

antelopevalley · 18/12/2022 00:42

@LydiaBennetsUglyBonnet It is Charles job to do things like lead the Royal Family and meet with the Prime Minster. Not William's and not Kate's. And William and Kate are quite clear they are not modernisers.

Well that’s your opinion, I do think they work hard 🤷‍♀️ I suppose it depends on what your definition of ‘hard work’ is. I’d find kissing babies and burning at people all day hard, followed by meetings about how the hell to stay relevant and ward off accusations wielded by your own brother across the pond

Blossomtoes · 18/12/2022 00:44

And William and Kate are quite clear they are not modernisers.

Are they? They look like modernisers to me.
