Meghan & Harry Were Lying From The Start, Weren't They?

As per the thread title.

Right from the word go, Meghan and Harry were not telling the truth. About anything.

Now the Netflix series has come out it just proves it, over and over again.

I think the more cunning type of nasty person makes sure they don't overstep the mark so wouldn't come out with the more blatant stuff so on Mumsnet, you dehumanize someone by starting or joining thread after thread of pulling whoever the target is apart.

I see that you agree then that the most extreme things previously spoken about have not been written on this site then. That is a good thing that these Neo Nazi groups are not here. I'm sure they would probably never have even heard of MN.

Rockybooboo · 12/01/2024 04:55

It's not a very effective experiment though. Surely you'd need a bigger sample than just your husband who knows you well and what words you use often.

Why would she ask strangers about the language she uses? That's puzzling.

mrsmingleton · 12/01/2024 08:34

Rockybooboo · 12/01/2024 05:03

Well it's based on what your views and values are as to what you consider as vile.

or it is an indicator of the company you keep and the subjects discussed.

Because the point that vile is a very unusual word.

No sorry your point is still not making sense. She was talking about HER use of the word vile. What is the point in walking up to a stranger and saying " do I ever use the word vile?" 😆

There have been some extreme views but MN have deleted them.

There have been more subtle racism . One was about how it would be better if Harry had married a blonde Sloane girl.

My husband opened a rioja the other day. He's a bit of a wine aficionado. It was corked. If I remember correctly He said 'oh god this wine is corked, it's vile. Don't even try it Rou'

What awful company I keep and how dreadful that he talked about wine in that context 😂

She used the word experiment to see if vile was a normal word.

Roussette · 12/01/2024 08:41

P.s. I wanted to cook with it and he told me not to be ridiculous because if it is not good enough for drinking it's not good enough for cooking, just want to finish the story on 'vile'

I have more stories if anyone would like them 😅

mrsmingleton · 12/01/2024 08:42

You can keep on coming back with a word mish mash @Rockybooboo but it still doesn't make sense 😂

And to illustrate to me that I and others are a lone voice on the usage of this word

I shall use it more frequently now, I feel it needs it!

I'm sorry I don't understand. I mix with lots of people and discuss lots of subjects.

What sort of company should I keep and what subjects should i avoid

😂😂
Were H&M always honest? It seems not.
Was Harry's Dad always honest? It seems not
Was Harry's step mother always honest? It seems not
Was his brother always honest? It seems not
Was his Uncle Andrew always honest? It seems not.
The list is endless.

The only one taking up pages and pages of posts here is Harry and Meghan.

Good grief . Who would have thought a fairly lighthearted comment would have resulted in such a debate ! Thanks @mrsmingleton for understanding!
Today I am doing my volunteering stint at the local Foodbank followed by coffee with friends so a fairly mixed group - should I ask all of them if they use the word vile ??? I can I imagine the faces …..

Why some people do and some people don't. How would you describe having sex with trafficked underage girls. I would use the word vile. How would you describe Lucy Letby? It's just descriptive word?

You are very hung up on the word 'vile' !!

Who cares?! Do a bigger straw poll if it makes you happy!

This vile discussion is bloody 😂😂😂😂
Seriously who gets so hung up on a word that they then ask if they should canvass their social circle? Even it was said in jest, it's 😳 Enough to give anyone an attack of the vapours, another v word not in common use.
Chill and allow people to express themselves however they wish. This is not a dictatorship, we don't live in North Korea.

Back to lying. They've all lied or not been honest at some point. Yet not all have their own dedicated thread.

Mylovelygreendress · 11/01/2024 19:28

Vile is a word I don’t think I have ever used . I only ever see it on MN .

Really?! It's not unusual to me/colleagues or friends?!
I've no idea why this vile chat has started, I think relevance has been lost in the deleted comments

AliceOlive · 12/01/2024 12:57

Yes, people do get very caught up on words here.

AliceOlive · 12/01/2024 12:58

Great advice for all.

I undertook a wee experiment earlier … talking to DH and referred to a particular person as vile . He looked at me and said vile ? When I said yes vile , he commented that he had never heard me call anyone that before . Even exh .

Is it because it’s normally a word only used to describe smells and tastes?

Roussette · 12/01/2024 13:07

Is it? I didn't know that. A person can be vile. Chambers (sorry... had to look, we are big dictionary people here, although Merriam Webster is usually my one of choice) illustrates 'vile' with as vile a rogue as ever lived

Interestingly, it is classed as a British word. I feel as if I'm on Countdown or something

I shall continue to use it in all its Britishness!
