Meghan & Harry Were Lying From The Start, Weren't They?

As per the thread title.

Right from the word go, Meghan and Harry were not telling the truth. About anything.

Now the Netflix series has come out it just proves it, over and over again.

Hello, all. This is a reminder that personal attacks break our Talk Guidelines. Please do avoid getting personal as if we have to delete too many posts, the thread will need to come down. Thank you.

Regularly? I’ll believe that when you point it out specifically. You cannot credibly paint everyone with one brush. So much hyperbolic language here. I “regularly” see posters use the word vile to describe anything at all said about H&M, even the most mild of observations.

You can deny and that is your right. I haven't 'painted everyone with one brush' Those are your words not mine. Very good example of hyperbolic language though 😀.

Minimising and dismissing happens ''regularly'' too.

Perhaps we could change vile to extremely unpleasant. That may be more appropriate.

Samcro · 11/01/2024 18:56

I often use the word vile. It’s the word I think best describes some of the things I see written about Meghan.

AliceOlive · 11/01/2024 19:00

I can’t take any of this seriously.

Mylovelygreendress · 11/01/2024 19:28

Vile is a word I don’t think I have ever used . I only ever see it on MN .

Roussette · 11/01/2024 20:16

How strange. I see and hear the world vile in real life. Unpleasant isn't quite strong enough AFAiC

unbelieveable22 · 11/01/2024 17:17

Do you think minimising real experiences of issues like racism, death threats, and yes other nasty and vile statements are acceptable? All of which happens regularly on here.
Nothing to do with not liking someone's opinion but those opinions are sometimes accompanied by dehumanising and denigrating language.

You are indeed getting confused with other sites.

How strange. I never hear or see the word vile IRL. What on earth do people do or talk about that is vile? Maybe I am lucky.

I undertook a wee experiment earlier … talking to DH and referred to a particular person as vile . He looked at me and said vile ? When I said yes vile , he commented that he had never heard me call anyone that before . Even exh .

AliceOlive · 11/01/2024 22:32

I remember all the puffing and excitement and delight over that. I don’t recall the flouncing but I prob wouldn’t notice anyway. I remember feeling very glad she didn’t say it about the um, other people.

Who are you talking about?

It's not a very effective experiment though. Surely you'd need a bigger sample than just your husband who knows you well and what words you use often.

Well it's based on what your views and values are as to what you consider as vile.

Thank you. You, having carried out this experiment with your DH, quite obviously illustrates that I am making up the fact I have heard the word 'vile' in the area I live and with the people I know.
Your research has put the lid on this, I'm lying quite obviously, such valuable research, please thank your DH for his participation in sorting this once and for all

I think the more cunning type of nasty person makes sure they don't overstep the mark so wouldn't come out with the more blatant stuff so on Mumsnet, you dehumanize someone by starting or joining thread after thread of pulling whoever the target is apart.

RosettaStormer · 12/01/2024 08:07

For Gods sake. Not everyone who finds M and H pretty appalling in their behaviour is a ‘nasty person’. Though I agree there are plenty of really unpleasant posters on other sites which I have dipped into and hurriedly backed away from. Like everything, there are nut cases out there who fixate on all sorts of subjects. It is possible to have a considered opinion without being a troll or a spiteful person.

No need for the sarcasm @Roussette . I didn’t say it was ground breaking research ! I was merely commenting that vile is not a word I come across other than on here . DH said he only ever heard it in court ( retired lawyer).
Different people different views .
God some people are touchy !

Roussette · 12/01/2024 08:28

I'm not the slightest bit touchy, I found your testing out the word 'vile' with your DH to try and prove a point with me, really funny and it made me laugh out loud. I have no idea how I was supposed to respond to what appeared to be a serious testing out of a word, to correct a poster on a forum 😂

I have to thank you actually, having a laugh at 6:30 in the morning has set my day up really nicely. 👍

Ok

There are some unpleasant posters on this site as well. If the focus was on appalling behaviour, I could understand but is the constant trivial things they're pulled apart on. Are these appalling behaviours?

  • Getting awards
  • Being mentioned in the Golden globes
  • Getting papped
-naming their child Lillibet
  • Touching her baby bump
  • Not standing on the steps with a newborn
  • Their Christmas card of Archie
  • Having Post Natal depression

These are just examples the many, many threads that attack them. When you add all these threads together and it's the same people who join in , it starts to look petty and spiteful.
