Meghan & Harry Were Lying From The Start, Weren't They?

TheShellBeach · 15/12/2022 17:47

As per the thread title.

Right from the word go, Meghan and Harry were not telling the truth. About anything.

Now the Netflix series has come out it just proves it, over and over again.

Chill and allow people to express themselves however they wish. This is not a dictatorship, we don't live in North Korea.

Great advice for all.

Indeed it is and thank you for acknowledging. Slippery slope.
Now back to lying. They are all at it. They've lied for years. Charles when he took his marriage vows and continued his affair with Camilla. That's just one example.

😂😂
Were H&M always honest? It seems not.
Was Harry's Dad always honest? It seems not
Was Harry's step mother always honest? It seems not
Was his brother always honest? It seems not
Was his Uncle Andrew always honest? It seems not.
The list is endless.

The only one taking up pages and pages of posts here is Harry and Meghan.

Well, this is a forum, in the RF section on a thread about H&M. People want to discuss them. Whether you agree with it or not is irrelevant. If anything posted breaches MN rules then report it. It's not up to anyone here to decide what others can or cannot say, do or be interested in.

I wish more people took note of that.

FishBowlSwimmer · 12/01/2024 16:58

So do I Roussette, so do I. I do think their relationship with the truth is somewhat lacking. I also acknowledge that other RF members have been less than honest at times but I shouldn't have to justify my opinion by comparison to others on a thread about M&H.

Roussette · 12/01/2024 17:07

I'm asked to justify my opinion literally all the time! Just sayin'
Even today endlessly. Hey ho, I'm used to it!
Have a nice weekend Wine

I think what makes them a bit different is that they insisted they wanted to tell their 'truth' and had an interview, a Netflix series and a book in which to do it. Unfortunately a lot of the claims and stories seemed a bit odd or didn't stack up to many people. If you are going to put your 'truth' out there to the world, you have to expect scrutiny.

shockthemonkey · 12/01/2024 18:10

Have been amused and bemused in equal parts by the discussion around "vile". Surely it's one word amongst scores of synonyms that express deep nastiness. As to whether it is often used or is just used on MN, that will surely vary person to person, as PPs have pointed out.

As to why other Royals who have also lied do not get all this public criticism, I am sure it has to do with how widely those lies were spread and what the motivations were for the lies. People won't warm to lies that appear to be about self-aggrandisement or shit-stirring.

unbelieveable22 · 13/01/2024 13:33

@AliceOlive Glad you agree 😂

Incidentally, I have read the word 'vile' on 2 different threads on Mumsnet this morning. The threads in question are far removed from this topic. Just saying. 😜

Rockybooboo · 13/01/2024 14:02

Vile must be in fashion. I will.use different words from now on. Repugnant has a nice ring to it.

I'm not letting 'vile' go without a fight!

Repugnant, yes!
I quite fancy 'despicable' and 'contemptible'... I might rotate the three of them whilst throwing in a 'loathsome' for good measure!

Viviennemary · 13/01/2024 14:19

I think vile is quite a good descriptive word. Best substitute I can think of is monstrous.

Roussette · 13/01/2024 14:23

Like 'monstrous'. How can I remember them all, and rotate them in the right order?!

It's bad enough with my word of the day from Merriam Webster... it comes through every single day, and I try my best to use the word in normal conversation.

Today's was tricky I will admit. It's gargoyle. My DH had his hair cut this morning, I told him it was a bit short and made him look like a gargoyle. That went down well ! 😁

Do you think he might have thought that was a vile comment Roussette 😉

Roussette · 13/01/2024 14:50

Very much so! Despicable in fact!

unbelieveable22 · 13/01/2024 15:26

The lies told about Harry and Meghan had a big impact on how they have been portrayed. It started from the moment their relationship was revealed. Many have airbrushed those initial comments out of history so here's a reminder.
'Harry's girl is (almost).straight outta Compton. Gang scarred home of her mother revealed - so will he be dropping by for tea? ''

Well H&M have a truck load of their own lies now

I disagree. ‘(Almost) Straight Outta Compton’ has received disproportionate attention compared to how representative it is. It was a single article written by a US reporter for the US version of MailOnline, and it misrepresented the place she was from because it wanted to portray an LA rags to European royalty story (inconveniently Meghan was not from rags at all!). They even use “will he be dropping by for tea?” as the subheading - very American view of British people. So it’s ironic that a single article written by an American reporter, using an American cultural reference, for an American audience has come to be seen by some as the smoking gun example of the racism of British tabloids. It’s been written about in the NYT and the LA Times so far from being ignored it’s received disproportionate attention - ironically in both they were going for what the original reporter was trying and failing to go for - it’s an “our princess, look how they treated her” story as well as a “those dumb Brits don’t know American geography” story (even though it was written by someone living in LA!)

The Mail must have known it would cause upset.

unbelieveable22 · 13/01/2024 17:29

Yet another example.

Meghan's former co-star Simon Rex says he was approached and offered $70,000 to say that his friendship with her was romantic.

'“When that story broke, a couple British tabloids offered to pay me a lot of money to say a lie that we actually hooked up,” he said. I said no to a lot of money because I didn’t feel right lying and f–king up the royal f–king family.”

Who else did they offer money to? Who else accepted?

Edited

I very much doubt they expected it would. It’s for DailyMail.com - editors are all US. If you read the article itself & not just the headline taken out of context, it’s just a hack attempt at getting an “exclusive” on Harry’s new girlfriend and framing the relationship like a rags to riches story. With the full context included it’s insensitive but it’s not a smoking gun for anything.

If anything they probably can’t believe their luck - it’s a totally hack article reporting diddly squat and yet it’s still getting traffic now because of all the controversy.

Archie being compared to a.chimpanzee

Not the tabloids - that was a comedian on Twitter, he lost his job over it. He claimed he didn’t know much about them & he didn’t know Archie & Meghan were mixed race and it was a general anti-RF joke about newborn royal babies being paraded around like monkeys.
