Meghan & Harry Were Lying From The Start, Weren't They?

TheShellBeach · 15/12/2022 17:47

As per the thread title.

Right from the word go, Meghan and Harry were not telling the truth. About anything.

Now the Netflix series has come out it just proves it, over and over again.

Just revisiting this thread after a year. Wondering if any other 'fibs' have come out.

Then I remembered Spare had been released in the interim and H claimed Willy pushed him into a dog bowl and snapped his necklace.

And the 'car chase'!

Lol.

You must be bored?

winniebeen · 30/12/2023 09:46

I was bored a bit- that's why I was on Mumsnet. Aren't we all?

I do wonder why they as a couple have a strange effect on people where they think they need to swoop in and push back on any criticism of them, it's odd. They are literal royalty, they are in a hugely privileged position. It's fine to laugh at their ridiculous behaviour.

On reflection of the year we could be also chatting about Britney with her knives, Kim K and her flogging of medical scans, Gwyneths Ski trial etc but I've commented on this.

Objectively speaking the 'car chase' and subsequent exaggerated claims ARE funny and on brand for the two of them. And PH wanging on about his penis in his book.

I still think they are a pair of prize turnips, and will continue to do so.

Mega turnips indeed!

In all honesty, I don't believe anything that either of them say... they've been proven liars time after time ... they both lie

SparklingBubbly · 31/12/2023 21:45

I did not rtwt but yes, yes they were. Only question is whether they are deluded enough to believe their own lies or not!

Circlingthesun · 31/12/2023 22:51

I don't like either of them but I do feel sorry for her. She wasn't prepared by Harry for being in the royal family or how awful the press can be. I do hold Harry accountable for that and hold him more responsible for the actions taken by them both.

I wish them well and wish they could settle and be happy, or at least happier than they appear to be- a happy family in California or wherever they choose to live.

RosettaStormer · 01/01/2024 01:12

She was quite capable of doing some research herself. Anyone in the street could have told her what would be expected of her. Why did she need Harry to point it out? She made it quite clear in her initial interviews that she didn’t want to listen to advice or guidance. She thought she knew it all.

AuroraCake · 01/01/2024 01:17

My opinion is Harry has been controlled…rescued by his family his whole life. We heard it time and again. Had to be told the way to do things. Talked round from his ideas. Met Meghan and she agreed with all his ideas and reinforced them. Unfortunately she didn’t know they were wack. He swaps one master for another really because the family thought they were rescuing him for his own good. Maybe his wife things the same thing. I think it’s all a disaster.

Theunamedcat · 01/01/2024 08:11

While I have sympathy for her not being prepared for royal life she did sort of know what she was in for she was a fan of the royal family and Diana she knew how she died how can she think it would be ok? She refused their guidance Harry didn't prepare her enough either and the family did try to protect her appealing for privacy something which they didn't do for Diana Kate nor camilla the whole situation is just weird sometimes I feel like I'm watching a slomo car crash in the cinema

Viviennemary · 01/01/2024 22:25

They are a really silly pair who have made a complete mess of things. That's my opinion.

What do you know that the rest of us don't know, which makes you think they are unhappy? How can you glean by looking at social media posts of people or new articles from tabloids that someone is unhappy?

Sagharbor · 02/01/2024 11:20

RosettaStormer · 01/01/2024 23:17

Mine too.

How so? What have they done that other members of that family have not done?

Alalain · 02/01/2024 12:00

In Harry's interviews, videos and photos of him, in a lot of them his demeanour and does not present as a very happy chappy. We all have different perspectives from his public appearances, some of them clearly are different to your perspective Sagharbor.

Alalain · 02/01/2024 12:03

What have they done that other members of that family have not done?

Slagged off their family in a sometimes petty and oftentimes nasty vengeful manner. Some will think that's okay if thats how they want to make money, others think differently about their money making efforts.

Alalain · 02/01/2024 12:07

Of course, others in the family have done similar (Fergie and Andrew for example) and people rightly call them out for that too, they have now joined the Fergie and Andrew category of shysters.

If Meghan Markle meant exactly this, she'd have used the word "rehearsal" at the very least. She didn't.

Her words:

Meghan: “[But] you know, three days before our wedding, we got married. No-one knows that.

“We called the Archbishop and we just said, ‘Look, this thing, this spectacle is for the world but we want our union between us.’ So, the vows that we have framed in our room are just the two of us in our backyard with the Archbishop of Canterbury.”

TThe plain meaning of these words is very clear - Meghan was NOT referring to a rehearsal of any description whatsoever, but an actual private marriage ceremony. "Three days before our wedding, we got married" is very obviously NOT a rehearsal.

You can try mental gymnastics all you like, but it's clear it wasn't referring to rehearsals. 🙄

This was the one that I found shocking. She was clearly saying that they got married 3 days before the wedding, and the wedding was therefore just for show, a sham. Oprah believed it. The Archbishop had to refute this claim. It would have been illegal for the Archbishop to marry them like that.
This was a barefaced lie designed to make it look like they were getting one over on the RF.
There are other stories that are pretty unbelievable but can’t be firmly refuted. But this story is without doubt untrue, showing that she is willing to come out with outrageous stories and present them as truth.
The story of her meeting the Queen for the first time, doing a ridiculous deep bow with outspread arms and saying “it’s a pleasure to meet you, your Majesty” is absurd. Look at Harry in the video when she says that. He gives her a weird sideways look and then looks at someone off camera. He certainly doesn’t look like someone hearing something he know to be true.
Then there’s Harry’s story of a “high speed car chase” in a taxi in New York which didn’t happen.
The two of them have a serious problem with a weird mix of paranoia and the need to be the centre of attention.

Not being funny but she would have seen soooo much press about the RF her whole life so she knew - IMO she thought she'd be someone to buck the trend, except people didn't warm enough to her and from what I've heard, they're both arseholes to people, so she didn't get her 'role' of the bigger better Diana, and is trying to do something over the pond ... and failing ... badly

I certainly agree that life in the RF was not what she expected the main issue ( in my opinion) was that she couldn’t cope with deferring to Catherine . Meghan would always have second choice of tiara , walk behind and in due course curtsy to her.
But Meghan’s supporters insist she is clever . She was an avid user of SM.
She was not an innocent teenager like Diana , she was a woman in her late 30s who had been out in the big world for years .
I simply don’t believe she did no research.

JSMill · 02/01/2024 13:30

They do seem to have told so many stories that just don't make sense or have been exaggerated or twisted. The most comical was the story of the pilot on the flight from the UK who took off his hat and said thank you for your service ma'am. The car chase thing was so bizarre, especially when they moved into a taxi cab and just sat there. I can't think of any other celebrity couple like them.

I can’t understand the consternation around the wedding story.

To me it was obvious what they were saying, that they had a blessing the day before as the actual wedding was going to be so big and impersonal.

It was never a deliberate lie! (IMO)

Meghan said that got MARRIED.

FloofCloud · 02/01/2024 17:11

@garlicandsapphires ... of course it was a deliberate lie ... why, I don't know, but she knew they weren't married because she's not stupid, she's done it before - nobody is THAT stupid! She's very manipulative and narcissistic, but she's not an idiot

Lockupyourbiscuits · 02/01/2024 17:47

The wedding story was almost a haha moment

You dumb suckers all thought u were watching a wedding
but we were already married !

It was weird as she obviously wanted the wedding otherwise she wouldn’t have invited all her A list friends

It’s almost as if she lumped the Brits in with any negative press and wanted to get one over on the whole country

But the one thing I can’t get over is why none of the Ragland relatives were invited and nobody has bothered pulling her up on this ?
weird
