Last thread has filled up so I thought I'd create another to chat trailers and teasers while we hang about waiting for better more truth bombs to drop in the main event.

I thought Beckham and William worked together on the world cup bids and other sporting stuff. Wasn't Harry involved too?

CathyorClaire · 16/12/2022 16:24

I guess if he's still angling for a knighthood, they probably don't want to get involved!

He's never going to get a knighthood after dipping his greedy snout so deep in the World cup trough so getting involved wouldn't hurt him any,

Seemingly another fair weather friend.

Beckham was at the wedding. The two couples have a lot in common, putting money before ethics.

Rhondaa · 16/12/2022 17:05

'I suppose I’d also need to sign up to Netflix before doing my 6 hours of Sussex homework before I’m allowed an opinion. Who made this rule? Will there be a test?'

Yes apparently we aren’t allowed an opinion unless we watch the entire 6hrs of attention seeking claptrap. Seeing the numerous clips on daytime TV or news shows does not count, although it isn't clear why.

Ohnonevermind · 16/12/2022 17:56

@Janieread

but all those posters felt qualified to discuss the Tom Bowyer book without reading it, they refused to read it in fact.

they are too funny

AFAIK the Beckhams went to both H and Ms wedding and Will and Kates.
No idea whether they have commented either way ,(I guess if he's still angling for a knighthood, they probably don't want to get involved!) I'm pretty sure they weren't in the Netflix series

Meghan accused Victoria of gossiping about her, and made Harry phone David (strong independent woman that she is) to give her a telling off. David told Harry in no uncertain terms that his wife is not a gossip, and they had it totally wrong. I think that's in the Tom Bower book (unchallenged to date).

Roussette · 16/12/2022 14:46

That's interesting. I know two couples from the Deep South, Texas. And as you say... you cannot quite get that they could be this nice (because we are soooo different) but they are! One couple in particular, I have got a lot of time for when we connect (now online), and they are the sweetest couple, everything is nice about them apart from his gun armoury which we don't talk about Grin They keep saying they are coming over to see us.. can't imagine how that will pan out, we're poles apart!

Yes I think the cultures are very different and it causes misunderstanding. I mean when I read about the chap on the plane thanking her I immediately thought he was taking the piss because that's how it sounded to me (I'm obviously not very nice) but she saw it as him being sincere. I wonder which it was?

I can't be horrible about the Beckhams. My kids did a charity things, year ago when they were actually children, and the Beckhams were lovely and gave generously. Victoria's parents also got in touch and were really nice.

I don't like football or pop music but I am team Beckhams.

Haters? Great sound bite, but actually I don't hate them. Just believe in some sort of objective truth, as well as recognising that we all have emotional triggers that make it difficult to be objective.

It seems that H&M's supporters rely on accusations of 'hate, 'obsession' and 'vitriol' to counter anyone who questions their contradictions and inconsistencies

This is a tactic out of the Alt Right / Trump playbook - use extreme shorthand slurs to shut people up when they want to silence and censor any debate, criticism or alternative views.

Sigma33 · 16/12/2022 19:42

Roussette · 16/12/2022 13:20

Sigh. You want to know about who spoke for them. Well... here you go.

Here is a list of those who spoke up for them in the doc. There's 32 of them to wade through but why you couldn't look for this yourself god alone knows. Am I getting paid for providing you with information you could find out for yourself??? 😂

people.com/royals/meghan-markle-prince-harry-netflix-show-who-is-who-guide-friends-commentators/

I do apologise for not providing the ratio of wedding guests to supporters, perhaps you could now take over the research lol

Thanks @Roussette There does seem to be a bit of a mismatch between A list wedding guests and those speaking up for them in this 'documentary'. There's Serena Williams, of course, but that seems to be it.

Unless Beyonce was at the wedding and/or is a personal friend who missed the wedding for whatever reason. Not that she appeared in person, but her supportive text was quoted it seems.

And Tyler Perry, of course, the 'friend we had never met' 😂

Oh right, so it's not like both the far left and extreme liberals don't do it just like the far right. Both are as bad of each other. That is no different than the race card played every single day and every single thread to shut down debate about Meghan. If you don't like her your rasist.

Indeed, like 'social justice warriors' 😀is wanting social justice a bad thing then? And if it's a good thing, what's wrong with 'fighting' for it?

Although it has rather been taken over by 'woke' - which again, seems to be saying you are aware of oppression on racial grounds and disapprove of it, so I can't see the problem.

But yes, the H&M supporters do see any questioning of their idols as hate and vitriol and obsession. As opposed to 'they put themselves and their version of the situation out there for public consumption, so why be shocked that people talk about it and notice any inconsistencies'?

Ohnonevermind · 16/12/2022 19:48

The Beyoncé’s thing is weird
Meghan ‘I can’t believe she knows who I am’

Reality - Beyoncé met her at the Lion king premier when Harry touted Meghan to the head of Disney for a job, in front of Beyoncé I can’t imagine Beyoncé would forget that cringfest in a hurry and Beyoncé said ‘we love you guys’ at the premiere

ArcaneWireless · 16/12/2022 19:48

I think that when a lot of the world and their maw has had something to say about something you have or haven’t done, you count on the ones that are there when everything seems bloody unfair.

I’ve been there and two colleagues, out of so very many, had my back/were prepared to to raise their heads above the parapet. (One other had me covered from hundreds of miles away)

I’ve come to admire the few who don’t let you down when the chips are as low down as they go.

I don’t care for those who want all the sunshine but won’t come out and pick you up when you are arse deep in mud in the pissing rain.

Sigma33 · 16/12/2022 19:53

In the same way many of them are 'but what about Andrew'? when it comes to them choosing to use their titles.

When he got slated in exactly the same way - he put 'his truth' out there and it was - rightly - scrutinised and inconsistencies noted.

But the H&M supporters don't have a problem with that!

No probs.

An interesting mix of people speaking up for them in the NF series.

Tyler Perry reached out, and I expect they're very grateful for that! And the connection is there with him being godfather to one of their kids.

bakalava · 16/12/2022 19:55

The psychosis of ideological mass hysteria. Authoritarian intolerance towards it's perceived opponents.

ajandjjmum · 16/12/2022 19:57

Isn't Tyler Perry also a client of Sunshine Sachs?

Presumably Lilibet, unless they asked a complete stranger to be a godparent to Archie?

Whihc would be weird

I quite agree. But then, I wouldn't invite a bunch of people who I hardly knew/didn't know to my (hypothetical!) wedding.

Don't you find that odd?

I can imagine (very unlikely to happen!) getting invited to an amazing event by people I hardly know, and thinking it sounds like fun, I'll go. Then when something hits the fan thinking 'that's not what I signed up for, I'm out'

The question is why you would invite people who aren't good friends to the wedding, unless you wanted some reflected glory (if they are famous) or charity kudos (if they are recipients of your largesse)

ArcaneWireless · 16/12/2022 20:14

No - I wouldn’t invite a bus load of strangers to my wedding (not that you’ll find me having another one unless one of my fat old crushes looks upon me favourably and I manage to be 20 years younger!) but I was of the (mistaken?) opinion that they meant something to them.

I was a sucker for the whole shebang - it looked like a bloody lovely day and I was sucker enough to think their guests personally mattered to them (and that it was reciprocated by virtue of the famous folks attendance)

Sometimes things aren’t what they seem. And sometimes I don’t see the obvious till it hoofs my arse.

But you can bet your arse most would have been singing their support from the rooftops if there hadn’t been any criticism of what was said, done, whatever in the NF thing.

As said, I’m not a fan of how things have unfolded, but take a bit of the shame faux chums.

It's a thread about Harry, Meghan and Netflix. A discussion of the documentary. Nobody is stopping anyone from having an opinion but if you haven't seen the programme, it's an uniformed opinion, which seems a bit pointless.

I still can't believe she knows who I am.

Funny how the people always accusing Meghan of lying are usually the same posters who blatantly twist whatever she says.

ArcaneWireless · 16/12/2022 20:52

Well I’ll have to back out then. I’ve only seen clips and feeds.

I don’t have Netflix.
