Last thread has filled up so I thought I'd create another to chat trailers and teasers while we hang about waiting for better more truth bombs to drop in the main event.

The pilot thing sounds like an American "thank you for your service" moment.

I can't see anyone bothering to buy Harry's book after this.

I was on a work call recently with all British people and one American woman. A guy in the team is ex forces (British RAF) and was saying something relevant to our project which involved him talking about his work in the RAF. The American woman's turn came to comment and she started by saying in very reverential tones "Dave, first, thank you for your service". Dave clearly didn't know where to look, he sort of mumbled "cheers, anyway if we look at column 4 of the spreadsheet..."

It was a real cultural differences moment.

saffronrabbit · 15/12/2022 15:31

Brothers shouting at each other during family conflict...par for the course I'd say.
Poor Harry being scared though....he does sound delicate and vulnerable.

I don't think he's ever dealt with the trauma of losing his mum, he needed a good therapist not a manipulative wife.

When he describes the RF surprise at him (a dumb ginger?) being able to date such a beautiful and intelligent woman....I think he was describing his own surprise.

GrouchyKiwi · 15/12/2022 15:31

Also the choice of films when talking about Tyler Perry (again from the BBC live text):

Perry is a well-known film director, particularly in the US, with movie credits including A Fall From Grace and Why Did I Get Married?

I'd quite like to have a coffee with Steven McIntosh, tbh.

Chelsea Davy was pretty hot.

Ohnonevermind · 15/12/2022 15:34

Harry was clearly told no for the first time in his life at the meeting. Imagine that spoilt man child as King.

Glindara · 15/12/2022 15:35

Exhausteddog · 15/12/2022 15:06

Yeah, I was intrigued by that

And is he essentially saying they did leave because of (or one of the reasons) was because of William bullying them out? As in over a period of time or the shouting and screaming at the meeting? I wasn't sure. And yes who put out the original story? (Assuming it wasn't H himself)

As an aside I was surprised by her her incredulity about the Royal wedding, and people lining the route. Why would you not expect that? (I do think it would be completely overwhelming, I admit ) A Royal wedding is kind of a big deal to a lot of people.

Does anyone else keep thinking of H from Line of Duty?

Its not clear who’s agenda this would serve?

I sense that there is a lot of “acting” as well as “faux surprises” and “humble bragging” in this instance about the streets being lined with well wishers - and these little anecdotes come across as having been dined out on and told over and over each time with the same disingenuous tone.

Ohnonevermind · 15/12/2022 15:36

the one thing is - they’ve made it too easy. It’s like shooting fish in a barrel. Is it another Cut interview ?

i read the CNN review - the last comments are funny.

OutwiththeOutCrowd · 15/12/2022 15:38

Chelsea Davy was pretty hot.

Ditto Cressida Bonas. I think Harry and his family must have realised a while ago that he can attract such women!

Ohnonevermind · 15/12/2022 15:40

@Glindara

Rather like Mr Collins in Pride and Prejudice you can imagine she practises them to give them ‘an unstudied air as possible’

Peasepuddingbloodycold · 15/12/2022 15:41

I wonder what Chelsea and Cressida are making of the series(!).

i read the CNN review - the last comments are funny.

I think that might be the lasting outcome of the Netflix documentaries - that H&M are a laughing stock. I hope they made lots of money from it.

Glindara · 15/12/2022 15:42

Fizbosshoes · 15/12/2022 15:16

@OutwiththeOutCrowd
🤣🤣🤣
The doof doofers! (Or maybe the sad, more sedate doof doofs when someone dies or leaves the square)

For some reason one of my kids has put subtitles on for everything on Netflix.and I don't know how to turn them off
I'm actually finding it quite amusing how the background music is described
Melancholy music/emotional music/upbeat music (it's mostly melancholy)

Yes the piano music is all deep drama like the score from a classic film or even Downtown - deliberately to edge you into a specific emotional space so that the content is received in this context.

I would be interesting to watch it with the music and the fleeting visuals - maybe a podcast - what are their actual words saying as opposed to the “packaging”

fartichoke · 15/12/2022 15:42

I've seen a video from the ochestrated reality show factual documentary where Meghan is crying on the sofa and a single tear trembles on the cusp, then rolls her left eye. Reminded me an awful lot of her crying for acting roles tactic. 'one tear, left eye, go!' Makes it hard to take seriously.

fartichoke · 15/12/2022 15:43

I'd like to watch it with the Benny Hill theme tune

Pearl664 · 15/12/2022 15:44

I'm just reading a summary on the BBC. Harry says that when they left hospital with baby Archie the media published a picture of them with a chimp. That was Danny Baker wasn't it, and he was sacked for it? It's a bit disingenuous for Harry to say 'the media' as if it was in the papers or something.

diddl · 15/12/2022 15:45

I always thought those black page boy outfits were an unusual choice though.

Are they not just representative of what Harry is wearing?

Glindara · 15/12/2022 15:46

That’s so funny

Peasepuddingbloodycold · 15/12/2022 15:46

Are they not just representative of what Harry is wearing? I presume so. The 'Blues and Royals' looks great on grown men, but little boys all in black for a wedding just looked a bit wrong to me.

Panama2 · 15/12/2022 15:47

And he goes, "we appreciate everything you did for our country.

I'm not sure what she thinks she did do for the country

she left

Glindara · 15/12/2022 15:48

Ohnonevermind · 15/12/2022 15:40

@Glindara

Agree - and fails. It’s just jarring and patronising to her audience.

I agree. It was a disgusting picture, and it was instantly roundly condemned and he was sacked. I find it really frustrating when the vile responses of isolated creeps are extrapolated in such a way as to represent huge generalisations.

Unfortunately, Netflix are out of Ofsted's remit in the UK - there is no way a UK channel could have made this documentary and several aspects of it gone unchallenged

Glindara · 15/12/2022 15:49

Maybe that’s what he meant - some people light up the room when they leave…….

Phew…!

Peasepuddingbloodycold · 15/12/2022 15:55

Danny Baker's tweet was gross and despicable and I don't buy the "I didn't realise" shit.

Think how much more impactful a BBC or Ch4 documentary by Harry on the press and/or social media would have been? I'm sure Hacked Off would have welcomed him.

Ohnonevermind · 15/12/2022 15:58

Perhaps her sacrifice was taking Harry with her ?

Roussette · 15/12/2022 16:01

bakalava · 15/12/2022 14:20

Lilibet looks a lot more like Auntie Samantha.

Have you seen her face more than the one picture they released?

What a strange thing to say, that the little girl looks like her mother's half sister
