Last thread has filled up so I thought I'd create another to chat trailers and teasers while we hang about waiting for better more truth bombs to drop in the main event.

The point about miscarriage is that people try to find a reason when quite often there is none. When I had my first I thought it was because I had broken into a trot to catch a bus. Clearly it had nothing to do with that. After the third I was advised that it was because I had PCOS. Sometimes there is nothing that can be proved. In their case I think that they want to blame someone because they feel that ordinary problems are caused by others and that extends to miscarriage too.

So it turns out that two ladies in Liverpool told her that she was treating her dad badly while doing a walkabout and M couldn't handle it. Other royals are not immune to this (see Charles being egged, Andrew booed).

Imagine telling someone they’re treating their father badly when you know next to nothing about the situation though. There’s some seriously crazy fuckers out there. People that will throw eggs at Charles, what are they actually thinking. These are not stable people.

Andrew being booed, well tough shit, he’s disgusting and deserves it.

JemimaTiggywinkles · 15/12/2022 14:51

Given the netflix cameras were around when they were doing the Oprah interview, it seems it was a very good thing that the royal family didn't rise to the bait.

Blip · 15/12/2022 14:54

The pilot thing sounds like an American "thank you for your service" moment.

I can't see anyone bothering to buy Harry's book after this.

I really should stop reading this since I'm not watching it until later and it's spoiling the surprises, but had to howl at the "we appreciate everything you did for our country"

Not because of whether or not it was said - like the Mandela remark it's probably unverifiable and amyway we know Meghan lies - but the mindset which would choose to repeat it

The Beyoncé text is even more hilarious though
"she says I was selected to break generational curses that need to be healed"

Harry's response is not to piss himself but to nod sagely and remark "Well said". He's well and truly lost any British sense of humour he may once have had.

Bless them.

I agree. Bonkers.

It's clear to me that if the Queen had wanted to find time in her week to speak with her grandson then she would have.

If palace bureaucrats had advised otherwise she could certainly have ignored their advice if she wanted to.

Well, people are going to very much feel that they have a take on Meghan's relationship with her father - and Meghan herself talks about it quite a lot to Netflix - because it has been heavily publicised.

Point being that being a royal means near constant exposure to shaking hands and meeting thousands of people that you have no control at all over how they are going to act, or what they are going to say to you, and these kind of instances are only going to become more frequent as certain members of society feel more emboldened to speak out and the royal family mystique comes under hard scrutiny- and M, in particular, was very afraid and felt very vulnerable in that, without the comfort blanket of a script and a presenter.

Peasepuddingbloodycold · 15/12/2022 15:05

At this point in time I'm of the opinion that by this point the Queen, Charles and William were all pretty wise to H&M's shenanigans. I'm starting to believe the rumours of things like Meghan taking photos of the Wales children.

Mumsnut · 15/12/2022 12:55

Going back to the beginning:

"He explains: "A story came out saying part of the reason Meghan and I were leaving was because William had bullied us out.
"Once I got in the car after the meeting [at Sandringham with other royals], I was told about a joint statement that had been put out in my name and my brother's name, squashing the story about him bullying us out of the family.
"I couldn't believe it. No one had asked me. No one had asked me permission to put out a statement like that." "

I wonder ... who 'placed' the original story? Unlikely to be William, or his team, I would have thought. A mystery.

Yeah, I was intrigued by that

And is he essentially saying they did leave because of (or one of the reasons) was because of William bullying them out? As in over a period of time or the shouting and screaming at the meeting? I wasn't sure. And yes who put out the original story? (Assuming it wasn't H himself)

As an aside I was surprised by her her incredulity about the Royal wedding, and people lining the route. Why would you not expect that? (I do think it would be completely overwhelming, I admit ) A Royal wedding is kind of a big deal to a lot of people.

Does anyone else keep thinking of H from Line of Duty?

Peasepuddingbloodycold · 15/12/2022 15:10

They just showed this photo (as an example of Meghan, a black woman, being married in to an institution and becoming a figure of hope).

Anyway, it strikes me as quite significant now that the Queen and Prince Phillip have passed. It also includes, probably, three royal monarchs and their consorts. I always thought those black page boy outfits were an unusual choice though.

Harry, Meghan and Netflix too
Blip · 15/12/2022 15:10

I'm sure Meghan had watched other Royal Weddings on TV and was fully aware that crowds would line the streets.

I can only think that she said that she wasn't aware thisi would happen in order to try to get the public to view her in a different way.

Peasepuddingbloodycold · 15/12/2022 14:49

Episode 5 guided meditation scene. I'm speechless.

Who films themselves doing guided meditation?

Blip · 15/12/2022 15:11

Or being intimate on their kitchen counter

mnenomic · 15/12/2022 15:13

One bit that really tickled me was when they both gushed over Prince Philip multiple times, Harry really singling him out as a man of honour.

At the same time, if you're going after people that have said racist things in the royal family (Harry himself and blackamoor broach aside), Philip is pretty much the ultimate go-to for absolute pages of terrible quotes, yet here they are bigging him up and not acknowledging any charater flaws.

If calling out racism in the royals is their duty, isn't that...disingenuous?

AutumnCrow · 15/12/2022 15:14

Andrew's a racist shit as well.

@OutwiththeOutCrowd
🤣🤣🤣
The doof doofers! (Or maybe the sad, more sedate doof doofs when someone dies or leaves the square)

For some reason one of my kids has put subtitles on for everything on Netflix.and I don't know how to turn them off
I'm actually finding it quite amusing how the background music is described
Melancholy music/emotional music/upbeat music (it's mostly melancholy)

And if she hadn't why not.

Her lack of awareness of what would happen was staggering.

When she first met the queen and Harry told her a couple of minutes before that the queen would be there and says do you know how to curtsy? He then says how can you explain all this to an American? He sounds like a small child trying to get out of trouble.

Utterly hilarious. It's one of these 'Everyone stood up and clapped and cheered on the bus' moments

Regarding the emerald tiara - queen did not want it worn because there was some doubt and scandal about it - having come out of Russia at time of revolution and person who owned it and how it was acquired.

Ohnonevermind · 15/12/2022 15:18

It’s really insulting our intelligence to feed us all this conflicting nonsense. Do they think we’re stupid ?

where is the fact checker ?

fartichoke · 15/12/2022 15:22

There's a really unpleasant bit where they moan that the cottage they were originally given was too small for them (it's what William and Kate were also given), which Oprah couldn't believe the size of it when she went for tea.

Gross snobbery.

Ohnonevermind · 15/12/2022 15:27

I’ve seen Meghan’s house in Canada during her suits days, hilarious

GrouchyKiwi · 15/12/2022 15:29

This bit in the BBC Live text (which is a nonsensical use of resources, btw, but here we are):

Unfortunately the BBC first aid kit on our floor has run out of sick bags, so we won't reproduce the speech in its entirety here. But ends with the words: "Above all, love wins."
