Am shocked Meghan said this…

Ndd135632 · 08/12/2022 09:58

She said: 'Even when Will and Kate came over and I was meeting her for the first time I remember I was in ripped jeans, I was bare foot, like I was a hugger, I have always been a hugger I didn't realise that is really jarring for a lot of Brits.'

'I started to understand that the formality on the outside carried through on the inside, that there is a forward facing way of being and then you close the door and thing OK we can relax now, but that formality carries over on both sides and that was surprising to me.'

What an utterly horrible thing to say about your sister and brother-in-law. I am done with her now. People are DIFFERENT Meghan. We are not all like you you you you.

It’s ok for people to sing songs about white people in songs? Na it’s not cool

I actually think you’re the first person I’ve met with an incomprehensible writing style that actually benefits you.

I’m clearly making a point of how is it ok for a white person to be talked about in such a manner? Can you answer that

The funny thing about the whole thing is that Netflix and other organisations that work with Meghan and Harry know they're going to make a killing because of all the utterly bonkers people who really hate them and are massively over invested in their lives.

I know people shout about how publicity hungry they are but the vast majority of people only come across their antics because of people like the OP ranting about them (again and again). I knew they had a documentary coming out as I saw the adverts on Netflix but have no intention to watch. No idea why people who hate them so much care enough to watch- but I imagine it's going to be number 1 on Netflix for some time.

The irony is that Meghan and Harry need the hate, because if people were just completely disinterested in them then their livelihood would be cut off completely.

Betting with strangers whether another stranger will have another baby.
Even if she did, you realise you don't have to watch her clutch her belly, follow what she's doing or not doing, right?!
But that's too easy, isn't it.
You love it really. 😁

Insert even bigger eyeroll

Wind your neck in racism happens to white people too

Choconut · 08/12/2022 15:48

What Meghan is doing here is letting everyone know that Kate is an uptight cold fish and she is the cuddly, down to earth, warm one - and golly gosh what an enormous surprise it all was to her.
She's very clever and she's very manipulative - not up to Diana's standards by a country mile - but she's working on it.

LaMarschallin · 08/12/2022 15:51

Using an apostrophe massively changes your meaning, can take a guess at the latter though and your white feelings are hurt?

"Apostrophe"? Shouldn't it be "comma"?
This is why I'm trying to give up being pedantic.
It always seems to backfire on me too.

Being so oppressed that you are able to drum up a whole Netflix series to showcase your oppression must be hard😥.

I reckon Harry is completely happy with the status and privileges that being a royal gives to him, he just hated that the woman he loves wasn't loved by everyone else. I suppose William and Kate did not take to Meghan and Harry is unable to forgive this. Welcoming the future King and Queen with no socks on probably didn't help matters 😂

Harry did rather marry her head over heels, which was not a clever move, seeing we are where we are. I hope they will have their happy ever after, they should be able to with being wealthy and so in love, 2 gorgeous kids and a mansion in California.

But with Meghan having fallen out with her side of the family and now they have fallen out with his family too, that's really sad for all involved. Luckily W&K's kids have cousins they can grow up with and be close to, the Sussex children don't have this.

Meghan has always wanted a cause to fight for or rather something to fight against, so they will fight on. They are both deeply troubled and I hope they will find their peace.

Bugger 😭🤣
I've been up since 5am and that's my excuse, what a nob ( me, not you lol) you are indeed correct and I meant comma 🙄😁

@Kanaloa Yes, the obsession (and hatred) is truly a strange, strange phenomenon!

I agree, H&M’s obsession with and hatred for Harry’s family is truly a strange, strange phenomenon.

RiverSkater · 08/12/2022 16:06

She could have said this without naming names. Seems to me away of signalling that she's all warm and huggy and Kate is uptight and unapproachable. 🤷‍♀️

OldReliable · 08/12/2022 16:07

Ndd135632 · 08/12/2022 09:59

Clearly William and Catherine are wise and very good judges of character to not jump to fake embrace.

Blimey. How odd to hero worship those two.

Yes, the killer for their ‘career’ will be indifference. The lovers will watch and the haters will watch but the truly indifferent won’t. When there’s enough genuine indifference then they will struggle.

healthadvice123 · 08/12/2022 16:11

@Doubtmyself that is true but they could of had a more peaceful life especially as years go on and media fixate on george , charlotte etc and yes the queen was def the last of the royal family as we know it I think.
The media are awful in the uk , paparazzi whatever , its shocking what they get away with and they can be pretty vile and meghan def got a bad deal from them , like holding her baby bump, I know loads of women who did this , and so what if she did ?
Its a shame as I really thought at first they would be a change the royal family needed, a normal person marrying in.
I also feel the only winners her will be netflix and media etc longterm

bibbiddybobbidyboo · 08/12/2022 16:13

Oh yes, so jarring. We Brits don't have ripped jeans in the UK, we wear our top hats and tail coats to wash the dishes and expect nothing less.

And Cuddles? Ew no, one must not be touched, a curtesy and "how do you do?" whilst doffing thy hat will only suffice.

She is an absolute ignorant moron to think she would be judged for either of those. Were comments made to her to make her believe they were disapproval? Or is it all just in her mind as usual?

BigBamBoom · 08/12/2022 16:14

I'm becoming more inclined to let the media off the hook with how they treated Meghan. She courted publicity from the off and the media played right into her hands with her narrative of victimhood. I do feel sorry for Harry because I don't think he knew what the game was. He quite rightly thinks it's appalling.

cyclamenqueen · 08/12/2022 16:25

I think this is multi faceted. As someone who lives in a mixed US /UK family there are a lot more differences in cultural expectations that people don't expect. My SIL reckons that the British talk in riddles most of the time and she's right. I don't think my very old fashioned stepfather ever got over her taking him at his word when she first came to dinner and he told her to help herself to top ups of wine and she just opened the fridge. In his book it was just a social nicety, like saying lets do lunch or asking how people are, he didn't mean it.

Of course the more important fact in this case is that the royals have to be super careful about people they let in to their lives , they never know whether that person is genuine or not ; are they going to sell their story to the press, are they trustworthy are they secretly recording. Will they break up with someone and then sell a story .They have a very close group of tight knit friends, most of whom they have known since childhood, they are not going to publicly emote to a person they hardly know, imagine the headlines, they guard their privacy fiercely . And lets face it they were right , she may love Harry she may not intend to be a danger, at least at first, but however unintentionally she has proved to be an incendiary device.

bakalava · 08/12/2022 16:29

BigBamBoom · 08/12/2022 15:34

@bakalava I don't think you can say "race card" because that makes you automatically racist, even if you're absolutely sure you're not. Especially then.

But I am ethnically Jewish so sit back down. I did (and still do) find the Nazi dressing up really offensive.

ImJustMadAboutSaffron · 08/12/2022 16:32

I absolutely HATE this. Saying stuff you don't mean isn't a social nicety, it's gaslighting and social incompetence.

Ndd135632 · 08/12/2022 11:25

She’s a prize bitch throwing another woman under the bus who cannot speak for herself. I find it incredible so many cannot see that.

My thoughts precisely. It’s disgusting behaviour from anyone and to actually get money to do so shows that there’s nothing she and Harry won stoop to where money’s involved.
They’re doing irreparable damage to everyone and they don’t give a toss.

bakalava · 08/12/2022 16:34

Another one of the curiosities of Mumsnet - somebody who has openly racist on many occasions is now an anti-racist beacon of hope to many because he married a mixed race woman.
