The royal family

Am shocked Meghan said this…

Ndd135632 · 08/12/2022 09:58

She said: 'Even when Will and Kate came over and I was meeting her for the first time I remember I was in ripped jeans, I was bare foot, like I was a hugger, I have always been a hugger I didn't realise that is really jarring for a lot of Brits.'

'I started to understand that the formality on the outside carried through on the inside, that there is a forward facing way of being and then you close the door and thing OK we can relax now, but that formality carries over on both sides and that was surprising to me.'

What an utterly horrible thing to say about your sister and brother-in-law. I am done with her now. People are DIFFERENT Meghan. We are not all like you you you you.

OP posts:

shes very manipulative and that’s my opinion

I wonder if everyone complaining about how MM complains would be feeling same about Dianna then, I guess not

Well quite.

Fergie on the other hand was fair game.

The press love to set two women against one another. If it appeals to prejudices too even better. I'm sure things would have been different if Fergie had been thinner than Diana and didn't have ginger hair and freckles. Likewise, I'm sure Megan would be treated differently if she was blond 🙄

@Doubtmyself i agree with you on this and was my thinking , was just replying to the poster too
When meghan and harry became an item it was in papers about her race( i doubt for right reasons)
Many people hadn't probably realised
And it appears from friends that almost the more black you are the more racism sometimes

I actually find Meghan and Harry nauseating most of the time, I liked the late Queen, couldn't help myself, maybe because I've seen her in person and she's been a constant in my life since birth, but don't really care for the rest of the Royal family. When she died, something died about the whole Royal family for me.

So I perfectly understand if some people dislike M+H, but a portion, probably a minority granted, do have racial undertones and I'll always call that out. But I completely accept many dislike her for non racial reasons, myself included! My sympathy for her comes from criticism for things she cannot help, her non-white status and her gender.

Same with Harry, he didn't choose to be a Royal and he lost his mother in horrific circumstances, even if they gave up titles and tried to live like Monks, the world will forever be interested in him and her (even if she divorces him, she's still the mother of the 7th in line to the throne and godson to the King, Harry will be the only sibling of the King one day and remains the Kings son. They will never have peace whatever they do. People seem to forget that.

But once this series is over and the book is out - what then ?

My bet is another child so we can watch M go around clutching her belly for another 9 months. (insert eyeroll)

*I didn't realise that is really jarring for a lot of Brits.

Jarring is a bit of an extreme word to use and it's clear she doesn't like Brits. What's ridiculous is that with this statement she is actually being racist herself as she is most likely referring to white English people but says all Brits are like that.*

She hasn’t said all Brits are like that at all you dumpling. She’s said ‘it would be jarring for a lot of Brits.’ Why would you quote her directly then lie about what she’s said in the same post?? Make it hard work to point out that you’re wrong.

Dumpling 🤣
I've just finished reading that post, and it got a massive eye roll because I'm done with dingbats on here with their racism denting bollocks, but yes.... dumpling.
Total total ones on these threads 😁
I say this as a white Brit myself, if you see yourself in what someone says, maybe step back, reflect and own it. Then deal with it

I suppose the sad part of it is that for the fiction to work it requires the participation of those ‘plebs.’ Those people buying into the fiction that they are less than are the ones holding it up. That’s why I find it quite sad. Why would you think an incredibly wealthy person born into the royal family is somehow better (in any way) than a social worker from Cardiff? Or a nursery teacher from Manchester, or a doctor from Glasgow? How do you think people justify raising these people up to this god like status when there’s no reason? They don’t seem any more intelligent, any wiser, any more morally upstanding than anyone else. So what is it that makes them ‘better?’

It doesn't. They're not better. If I was to write about the scandals, faux pas, shenanigans of the royal family, I would be here until a week next Tuesday. They are flawed human beings like the rest of us, with their share of scandal within the family.
Every family has something, they've had buckets of stuff going on. Look at Andrew, Princess Margaret, H&M, nazi loving Duke of Windsor, even Anne (who is held up as the best of the bunch) her ex husband fathering a child whilst still married to her. Why are they special?

BigBamBoom · 08/12/2022 15:34

@bakalava I don't think you can say "race card" because that makes you automatically racist, even if you're absolutely sure you're not. Especially then.

Nancienoo · 08/12/2022 15:35

If we are talking about racism white people suffer from racism too! Have to heard half of stupid rap music digging into white women!

Awayawayohohohawayfromhere · 08/12/2022 15:35

I just took this comment as Meghan highlighting situations where her expectations didn’t meet reality. She is trying to explain why she found it difficult going from her old life to one where she was in a relationship with Harry. I don’t see anything hateful in the comments. She’s just trying to articulate what things were different for her and why she found them difficult?

Betting with strangers whether another stranger will have another baby.
Even if she did, you realise you don't have to watch her clutch her belly, follow what she's doing or not doing, right?!
But that's too easy, isn't it.
You love it really. 😁

If you think that’s offensive, OP, you should read what people write about their in laws on HERE! 😱

As someone who recalls the Diana hysteria I felt at the time that Diana was extremely manipulative with public opinion making sure that the press were kept up to date when she wanted to be photographed, a number of journalists have confirmed this. She wasn't as admired before her death as many seem to believe, it was her untimely death that led to sainthood.

I know, I was responding to a poster who referred to them as better. I just wanted to hear how they’re better… or why.

The funny thing about the whole thing is that Netflix and other organisations that work with Meghan and Harry know they're going to make a killing because of all the utterly bonkers people who really hate them and are massively over invested in their lives.

I know people shout about how publicity hungry they are but the vast majority of people only come across their antics because of people like the OP ranting about them (again and again). I knew they had a documentary coming out as I saw the adverts on Netflix but have no intention to watch. No idea why people who hate them so much care enough to watch- but I imagine it's going to be number 1 on Netflix for some time.

Until the Crown I did not realise the Royal Family were so formal in private. I assumed in private they were ordinary. So did Meghan.

You believe everything you watch in the Crown?

What about the other thread in which Lady SH was demeaning the visitor by moving her hair - are you allowed to touch others if you are from one race but not allowed if you are from another? The comments here and on the Kanye thread suggest this kind of thinking among contributors.

Great point.

Would you have met them for the first time in ripped jeans and barefoot?

That was my thought. So she couldn't be bothered to get out of her ripped jeans, yet complained when Kate didn't want to give her a hug? I'm also surprised that Harry didn't give her a heads-up on what to expect. Or maybe he did, and she didn't care?
