The royal family

Am shocked Meghan said this…

Ndd135632 · 08/12/2022 09:58

She said: 'Even when Will and Kate came over and I was meeting her for the first time I remember I was in ripped jeans, I was bare foot, like I was a hugger, I have always been a hugger I didn't realise that is really jarring for a lot of Brits.'

'I started to understand that the formality on the outside carried through on the inside, that there is a forward facing way of being and then you close the door and thing OK we can relax now, but that formality carries over on both sides and that was surprising to me.'

What an utterly horrible thing to say about your sister and brother-in-law. I am done with her now. People are DIFFERENT Meghan. We are not all like you you you you.

@Doubtmyself your the one who put up about the racism at first , you never called out a particular post , which is what people should do
You just spouted the general most are racist posts people always use

It is sad the way people grab anything that MM says and twist it to her detriment. If it had been anyone else saying this there would have been some sympathy and understanding for her predicament.

Seeing it in real time on here is so bizarre. Something seemingly innocuous and an observation of how out of her comfort zone she was is apparently a massive slur against the royals.

GoingOnce · 08/12/2022 14:32

It’s such a needlessly bitchy thing to say.

How awful and hurtful. Can you imagine her reaction if Kate said anything so personal about her?

RLScott · 08/12/2022 14:33

Doubtmyself · 08/12/2022 13:17

Rishi Sunak the first British Asian PM...no-one in the U.K. batted an eyelid, an equivalent of this in race based America it would be headline new

He was voted in by a handful of his own party MP's in a desperate act after Liz Truss was booted out ( the winner of the leadership race) FFS.

America voted in a black president. Can you honestly see that happening anytime soon in the UK for fucks sake? As you said, race is ignored in the UK, as a black woman I agree with you, blatant racism is ignored and denied in this country, which has been a slave trading nation longer than the United States existed!

Look at the Windrush scandal, black people who had lived here for 50+ years, from former British colonies deported. Look at the reaction of the England team taking the knee against racism - dismissed as woke , virtue signalling .

You seem to make the suggestion a black British woman wouldn't register racism in the UK , FUCK ME.....

Don't misunderstand me. Of course there is racism everywhere (we seen it only last week from that “lady” Hussy bigot who asked the black woman “where are your people from”). That’s not my point. The point is Harry is now with someone who grew up in a race based country where everything is about race (he hadn’t given it much thought, until he “educated” her about it).

Three nations banned interracial marriage: America (who created the concept), Nazi Germany (implemented US laws in the Nuremberg race laws), and Apartheid South Africa. California (home of the couple in question) it only became legal post WWII.

All countries have racism issues (including my own, Ireland), but for America to stop being racist, it would need to stop being America. It’s in all it’s documents, it’s anthem, it’s government buildings: White House, built by slaves, US Capitol, built by slaves. America is a whole other beast when it comes to racism, and unfortunately as a by product of that everything is about race.

GoingOnce · 08/12/2022 14:34

It may be true but why are they giving a running commentary on every interaction they’ve ever had? Utterly classless. Harry is a jerk to have married this bitter, vengeful woman.

Anything less than Kate is a Saint and William is amazing is a slur. Once you understand that some fans do not see Kate and William as real people then their reactions make sense.

She’s a prize bitch throwing another woman under the bus who cannot speak for herself. I find it incredible so many cannot see that.

ffs
Kate can speak, she just chooses not to. this poor Kate the victim stuff is weird. they have been throwing Meghan under the bus for years.
I remember when he crying at the bridesmaid fitting thing started. it was supposed to be kate crying, so Meghan got bashed. turns out it might have been Meghan crying, so excuse made for why Kate would do it. never a chance missed.

healthadvice123 · 08/12/2022 14:35

@antelopevalley well surely they won't want to go ?
They could of gone and lived their quiet life , they chose not to
You can't be half in half out like they wanted though, simply doesn't work when taxpayers foot some of them bill
Harry doesn't seem to like his family so don't visit like many in real life don't
They could of been a breath of breath of fresh air to the royal family but chose a different path
Charles has always wanted to slim down the RF anyway so probably changes to still come

Zoopsey · 08/12/2022 14:35

Well, Meghan for Queen, that's what I think...

beAsensible1 · 08/12/2022 14:35

Ponderingwindow · 08/12/2022 13:29

I don’t think it’s a horrible thing to say.

I think it illustrates what a poor job Harry did at preparing her for the situation.

how many of us have had to do the prep for introducing our new partners to our families? There is always an explanation of the quirks of the family that we recognize and know they are about to encounter. You would tell your partner in advance that the family has certain habits for clothing, etc. there would be quirks you don’t realize and your partner might dissect with you later, but you warn them of what you know.

it’s the same with the story about not teaching her how to curtsy. If she is going to have too curtsy to meet members of your family, take 10 minutes and teach her how. Also explain to whom and when. Do it in advance and prepare.

this is so typical of guys, they never bloody say anything until the last minute about meeting their family!

I dated a minor african royal once, went to kings private residence luckily his mum called me in the car and told me what i needed to do beforehand!

but after all the formal greetings (yes small curtsy) it was all very informal.

RLScott · 08/12/2022 14:36

*she educated him about it

healthadvice123 · 08/12/2022 14:36

@Samcro Kate can't just speak though she has to follow the never explain rule , unless Charles changes that etc
The crying thing was the papers , chances are both of them

MichaelAndEagle · 08/12/2022 14:37

Her husband should really have intervened and explained this to her before she met her prospective in laws.

This comment from page one is pretty much what I keep coming back to thinking.

MintyFreshOne · 08/12/2022 14:37

ThatEdgyFeeling · 08/12/2022 10:02

Would you have met them for the first time in ripped jeans and barefoot?

ffs why should anyone care about this? Meet them in a bathrobe if you like, why not?

HeddaGarbled · 08/12/2022 14:37

She was definitely having a pop at Catherine, and not for the first time. She’s got a real bee in her bonnet there.

Justasec321 · 08/12/2022 14:37

healthadvice123 · 08/12/2022 14:26

@Justasec321 why because you say so
I hate all this closing down of calling people racist who are not being and this crap line not all who voted brexit etc
People can like or dislike meghan for many reasons
Call out a racist post there and then , call out racist people 100% but not make accusations that all of a certain people are racist

Not because I say so Health - but because you are twisting the posters words, misquoting her, and it is begining to look like harrassement.

healthadvice123 · 08/12/2022 14:40

@Justasec321 harrassment ?
They tagged me also?
I can have an opinion and the poster is more than capable of answering
Tarring anyone who disagrees as racist is not right in my opinion and doesn't help combat racism , which is what we all want

RedAndBlueStripedGolfingUmbrella · 08/12/2022 14:40

Blimey, people really do get wound up over the most stupid things, don't they?! 🤣
You're done with her?
For saying she's a hugger a and she's surprised a lot aren't?!
I bet she's devastated, can hear her crossing you off her Christmas card list from here 😂
Sorry, but find the nearest shop that sells grips and go buy yourself a big one lol.

Its made it so clear that no matter what they do or say there's no winning so who cares!
its not even about sides at this point, but if something so simple can be twisted in to this massive thing with apparently six thousand layers of bitchness then my goodness no wonder the press and everyone is frothing at the mouth.

starfro · 08/12/2022 14:41

I can't believe that someone wouldn't do a bit of research when dating a Royal, and wouldn't bother dressing up a bit when meeting the future King of England for the first time.

It's clearly all lies, and straight out of the cheesy plot lines you see on those awful American meets Brit Christmas Romcoms.

The real story is that she married for fame, it turned out to not be much fun being a minor Royal and didn't advance her career, so she went back home. Now they need to sell a sickly-sweet story full of drama and oppression to an American audience.

sunnyminds76 · 08/12/2022 14:41

Re Harry not educating Meghan about protocol. She's bright enough to know that perhaps meeting your RF husband's family for the first time you make more of an effort to find out. And why name them. It's just not very nice, is it?
And just as there are probably RF fans who see no wrong with K&W, the opposite is true as well.

when they popped by to her house? why would you think that unless told? Ive met a king in jeans a leather jacket!

it's not at a formal event its at the house!

I wouldn't research i'd expect my partner to tell me if i needed to, if he didnt i'd assume it was fine.

Just can't help yourself can you!

My first post was in response to @RLScott who claimed the UK was a perfect non-racist country , forwarding the idea we had an British Asian PM as somehow proof. There post was all about race, and I responded. There, 'I called out a particular post'

I refuted @RLScott post. Its on p19 if you want to have a look!

So once again, and I'll put it in capitals this time, because, well I just feel like it,

YOU ARE MAKING THINGS UP @healthadvice123 😆

We have had several versions of their truth now as well, is this the actual truth truth?
